Hi! Since the pandemic severely cut attendance, Takarazuka has been broadcasting online livestreams of almost every show. You need a VPN to purchase and watch these livestreams, but it’s possible from overseas.
Here’s the list of upcoming shows: https://www.tca-pictures.net/vod/live2020/
And here’s a VPN guide: https://t4ngyuan.tumblr.com/post/634571915945738240/rakuten-tv-livestream-guide

Takarazuka Roundup 2.15.21
While MANY things have UNDOUBTEDLY transpired since the last roundup, here are the ones that transpired this past week-ish:
Yukgumi’s fff / Silk Road closed in Takarazuka, in a bittersweet sendoff sans-guard, gallery, and farewell parties for Nozomi Fuuto, Maaya Kiho, and the numerous other retirees.
Hoshigumi’s Romeo & Juliette opened in Takarazuka at half capacity, and two livestreams were announced for 3/7 and 3/29 covering both A and B casts.
Rehearsals for Hanagumi’s Augustus/Cool Beast!! started, and in addition to Hana Yuuki, retirees for this show will include Seto Kazuya, Seazuki Runa, Mihana Rino, Sarasa Nachi, and Sumizuki Naoto. Seto Kazuya will have a dinner show in May.
Soragumi’s fukukumichou Mikaze Maira will be transferring to Hanagumi on May 11, and will be assuming the post of fukukumichou at the conclusion of Augustus/Cool Beast!! Soragumi’s next fukukumichou has not been announced.
Soragumi’s Hoshikaze Madoka, who is scheduled to move to Senka at the conclusion of Anastasia, will then move to Hanagumi on July 5 and become the next top musumeyaku.
The subtitle “The Game is Afoot!” has been affixed to Soragumi’s Sherlock Holmes
Misono Sakura’s music salon has gotten a very Alice-in-Wonderland-looking poster (kageki.hankyu.co.jp/news/20200316_002.html)
Hoshigumi’s next small theaters include a concert for Coto entitled VERDAD!! at Maihama Amphitheater, and Manon starring Aizuki Hikaru in Bow Hall and KAAT (but not the kanji Manon, the katakana Manon).

Takarazuka stream alert: Phantom (2004) w/English translation
Hello everyone! Me and faithful subber @leecifrawr have finally finished our latest project for @zukalations so I’m excited to share it with you!

I will be streaming the 2004 Cosmos Troupe production of Phantom, starring Wao Youka, Hanafusa Mari, and Aran Kei, with full English subtitles on Monday, Sept 14! I am not entirely sure of the time currently but it should be mid to late afternoon in the PST time zone. I will update when the time is settled.
As it’s a subtitled showing, and I want to protect this recording in particular, I’m going to be taking more precautions when streaming. Please message me or reply to the post if you want to ask for access.

Takarazuka news roundup 6.29.20
They’re coming more frequently now! Let’s hope all these performances can move forward as planned without any health consequences.
Several small theater productions that were scheduled for this past Spring and cancelled due to the coronavirus have been rescheduled at different theaters. The schedule and locations are as follows:
Soragumi’s Flying Sapa: 8/1-8/11 at Umeda Arts Theater Main Hall (previously planned for Akasaka ACT)
Soragumi’s Magnificent Emperor: 8/14-8/18 at Drama City only (previously planned for Drama City and Nippon Seinenkan)
Yukigumi’s Fiery Bolero / Music Revolution -New Spirit-: 8/17-8/25 at Umeda Arts Theater Main Hall only (previously planned for national tour)
Todoroki Yuu’s dinner show: 8/26 and 27 at Hotel Hankyu International
Nozomi Fuuto’s NOW! ZOOM ME!!: 9/11-19 at the Takarazuka Grand Theater, 9/26-10/3 at the Tokyo Theater (previously planned for Kobe International Hall and Bunka Civic Hall)
Maaya Kiho’s Music Salon: 9/6-8 at the Takarazuka Hotel, 9/13 & 14 at the Daiichi Hotel Tokyo
The measures in place for shows at Umeda are largely the same, adding that the one ticket per show per customer rule also applies to Umeda Arts members as well as Tomo no Kai. Measures for the hotel performances will be announced at a later date.
Additionally, the company’s instagram messages will be coming to an end with Todoroki Yuu as the 106th participant, representing the 106th year of Takarazuka.

Takarazuka news & schedule update: Tokyo edition
Following last week’s announcement that the Takarazuka Grand Theater will be resuming performances with Hanagumi’s Haikarasan, the company has announced that Tokyo Theater performances will resume on 7/31 with Hoshigumi’s Dazzling Valley/Ray. The show will run through 9/20 and the shinko performance will be on 8/20.
The coronavirus measures used in reopening will be largely the same as those announced for Haikarasan in Takarazuka, which I’ve listed here. A few changes: in Tokyo, the one performance a day rule extends through August 15. They will also be using a split cast to control the number of people on stage/backstage at once. In summary: all upperclassmen (99th class and above), plus Sakuraba Mai, Kiwami Shin, Aomi Sario, Amato Kanon, and Mizuno Yuri will be performing every day. The remainder (100th-105th) have been evenly split into A and B casts.
The new announcement says they are planning to run Haikarasan and Tsukigumi’s Welcome to Takarazuka/Pigalle in Tokyo within the year as well, though a schedule has not been decided.

“Once Upon a Time in America” subs
download here: wtheckzukasubs.tumblr.com/shows
It’s here!
It’s not the best story, but the songs are amazing and I don’t think Daimon needs any marketing, right? You either like her or not. And if you do, go ahead and feast yourselves! :-D
Some notes, though. The Le Cinq didn’t bring any script and of course the Sky Stage viewing didn’t contain closed captions either. Thus, these subs were done solely by ear, except for the songs (thank God the lyrics were made available!). I’d like to thank a loooot my friends for helping me through this one. They always come to my rescue, but I feel that they basically did half of the transcription. Any mistakes you find, they were surely a part I was sure I got right and never showed them.
The subs were timed to the Bluray and won’t work on the Sky Stage version, because the girls aren’t machines to say the lines with the same speed every day, lol. At the same time, the lines themselves are 99.5% the same, so you can use it as a script to follow the show or something…
Have a great weekend, everyone!

“TOP HAT” subs
download here: wtheckzukasubs.tumblr.com/shows
And this is released! I hope you enjoy it!
Note that this was an aural translation, save for a few of the songs I could find lyrics for. This musical isn’t directly from the movie but from a western musical, so there were many differences from the script too (though the story and order of events are the very same).
It was a lot of work but it was also a lot of fun. I was very depressed at all things Takarazuka through 2014 and I remember it was around the time of this release that I was pulled back (not that I had left the fandom but it would happen). I think it’s too long but it’s the only fault I can find in it. ;-)
Kai is amazing and so is Ai-chan, Junya Chitose will forever have my heart so I don’t need to say anything. Kotobuki’s character is also so funny! Don’t miss this play.
One last note, I had many problems with my rip, I had to rip it again and then it was still glitchy and I ripped it another time. I’d like to say it went smoothly then but it didn’t. I think the subs should be okay, but let me know if they don’t time right with your DVD. It does now with mine, but I’m very suspicious…
And… have fun!
