Dream started, hands falling away from him. “What?” he exhaled. “Why?”

“It’s-” he dropped his gaze. “It’s just kinda freaking me out. That you’re wearing it here. With me.”

Aaaayyyy I’ve been traveling and then caught a cold, but the next chapter is a slow work in progress ;D

Here’s the first little bit to sate you!

Tommy's stomach was in knots. Tensing and lurching with every step closer they took towards Snowchester. That feeling was causing a strange conflict however with the new warmth that surrounded him like a blanket.

It was cold outside. The damp, frosty air prickled sharply against what little skin was exposed, but he still felt warm somewhere in his core. The red hoodie and the heavy black cloak kept him safe from the semi-melted snow that fell between branches- just as the boots and the mask did.

His fists tightened as he absently followed Dream through the forest. Everything he had was because of Dream. But everything he had lost was also because of him. And yet, that was all such a distant memory now, he couldn't bring himself to miss it, besides a deep ache that was more like a scar. There was no helping that, he knew.

Tommy just hoped it wouldn't get worse by whatever was about to happen.

They were moving along the peak of a mountain that bordered the small town, looking down on the distant lights of lanterns and torches. Dream didn't seem too interested in it, however. He was looking out towards the ocean, shifting impatiently.

“Do we need to go over the plan again?” the admin asked quietly.

Another drop in Tommy's stomach as the details of what he would need to do came rushing back. “No.”

“You're sure you can do this?” he asked, finally turning to face the blond. “It's okay if you can't.”

Somehow, Tommy was certain there wasn't really any alternative. He swallowed thickly and nodded.

They lapsed into silence.
