One of my more radical beliefs is that everyone, regardless of occupation, should be required to take a first aid course at some point in their adult life so that, even if you don’t keep up the cert, if someone says to you “My chest has been really hurting and I’ve been having trouble breathing I think I’m gonna lay down for a bit” your hindbrain kicks in and you say “That’s a bad idea. So last month I got hit by a car and died right. Which I didn't initially realize until I watched some guy haul my body into his pickup and drive off. Which, being that it's deep in rural Michigan, I assume means my body will make some venison jerky and maybe some wall decoration, and I'll be resigned to being one of hundreds of deer ghosts floating around Saginaw, which is w/e. But then I find out the guy works at a taxidermy shop or something, and he's actually pretty good at stuffing and mounting deer carcasses, which I come to find out when I find myself face to face with my old body in the shop window. So naturally, I figure since ghosts need to possess something to interact with the living world and etc etc etc the most logical thing to do is to possess my own body, since it's basically a statue of myself. And a little surprisingly, it actually fits like a glove. Like, since it's my body, it feels like stepping right back into place. So I get out of town and back to my herd, eventually. And that's where the trouble starts coming into it, because after I get settled again, I don't know how to explain to everyone else what feels so weird. Like since I can move my body and do everything I used to do, it's functionally the same, like nothing happened. Or it SHOULD be, so I don't know how to explain how it's NOT. But it's just hard to explain it to someone who's never been hit by a truck I guess

I think to make sense of this assassination in Minnesota, you need to be aware that the state legislature has been in this back-and-forth since the election. The house was deadlocked with 67-67 blue-to-red. In the senate, the Democrats had a majority of one. There were a series of spats about this. One Democrat was booted because they lied about their residence in their district. Justin Eichorn got nabbed for being a pedophile. There's been a death. The state has been back and forth for months. What feels very strange is that on election night, this exact situation stuck out to me like a fire. It was so, so, so close. If the dems just had one less, the legislature would be completely jammed. If they had two or three less, the republicans would be able to do what they want. If one were willing, this would be the perfect moment for a political assassination. And it happened, seemingly. There was a recovered "kill list" that allegedly had the names of a ton of democrats on it.

Another strange thing is that the suspect is the CEO of "Red Lions Group," a private security company apparently based in Congo, as well as working with a Minnesota-based company called "Praetorian Guard Security Services." The suspect's bio on the PGSS website reads:

Finding out that Frances Dana Barker Gage, a white woman, rewrote Sojourner Truth’s famous speech to be more stereotypically “Southern slave” (complete with slurs and misspellings like dat, dere, dey) when Sojourner Truth was actually from New York and spoke only Dutch until she was almost ten and wouldn’t have actually sounded that way linguistically and decidedly did not use the phrase “Ain’t I A Woman?” at all is…whew. And on top of everything, she embellished details about Sojourner Truth’s life (like the number of children she had/how many of them were sold into slavery), wrote that ST said that she could take beatings like a man, and the reception of the speech in the room (she claims ST was called a n*gg*r, earlier accounts say the room was welcoming).
