Maybe you need a man in your life, eh?
Tsunade felt like joining him in the wall, her cheeks had turned a rosy pink colour that matched the drunken glow she kept regularly on her face. It was ludicrous! How quickly she had turned from s strong woman to this embarrassed state that mirrored a schoolgirl. She fidgeted with her sleeve as she looked back up at him, her tone reluctant.
"About that... Well.. I met this guy, I think you'll know him, Dan. I-I met him at a meeting and we had so much in common and yeah."
It was almost painful to keep going. She wasn't ashamed by her new relationship, but rather proud. It just didn't seem like the right time to bring it up, nor with the right person. Tsunade let her bangs fall forward to cover her blushing expression. A change of subject, that is what she needed. Why? Because she knew how much Jiraiya liked her, she wasn't an idiot. Maybe a bit misunderstanding, but not an idiot.
She never knew how heart-breaking it would be.
So she offered a small, warm smile. Keen to start a new topic, she perked up with a glance towards the orphans' room.
"How are they doing? .. Do you plan on bringing them to Konoha at any time, eh?"
Prologue (Jiraiya and Tsunade)
As soon as the question left his lips, he instantly regretted it. Seeing her expression turn downcast before his eyes was bad enough, but knowing he was the reason for it made watching near unbearable.
“Well! Can’t I visit my teammate and his students sometime? Tch, I felt I had to check up on you, baka. Besides, it’s no fun without you.”
Damn. Hearing those words made him want to laugh and groan at the same time. It was just so typical of Tsunade to put up a brave front like that, even when confid— talking to him. He wanted to tell her how it was okay, she didn’t need to pretend… not anymore, because she could trust him. She could always trust him. And yet, in the same situation, he knew that he would have said exactly the same to her.
”.. I couldn’t just leave you alone out in this war-filled place, Jiraiya. Unfortunately, I have a bitch of a conscience.”
That made him feel guilty; even more so than before. They both knew that it was essentially him that had left her, not the other way round. Even though he didn’t regret his decision — he still stood by what he’d said before, the orphans came first — he knew that their previous parting had been much too abrupt for comfort. She had never approved of his journeying ways, and this was no exception. Especially as he had essentially made camp in the middle of a war zone. Compared to this place, Konoha was almost peaceful.
That didn’t mean life over there was easy. For Tsunade to want — maybe need — to come all the way over here, something had to be breaking her down. The notion worried him, because she was one of the strongest people he knew, and he didn’t just mean physically.
This was his chance to comfort her. His opportunity to give her both the moral and the emotional support she needed.
“So you just needed a man in your life, eh?”
He nearly buried his head in the wall.

There always was a warm feeling around whenever he was nearby. Though she never admitted it, it always comforted her in the worst of situations. He was not only her comrade, but closest friend. Even if she never tended to show it, she always appreciated it.
But the casual air simmered away, oh so quickly.
And he was right. This was wasn't just a trip to check up him and his students ever since he had left to train the Ame orphans, things were getting worse. The conflict within the council rooms was getting worse everyday. They always wanted the same thing from her; her secrets to chakra-induced mitosis, to create stronger shinobi regardless of the consequences.
Things.. Are going to Hell.. But, I can't let you worry about that, you have enough to deal with..
Her smile faded, an almost blank look taking over her warm features. She glanced down, shifting slightly in her spot awkwardly.
"Well! Can't I visit my teammate and his students sometime? Tch, I felt I had to check up on you, baka. Besides, it's no fun without you."
Tsunade bit her lip lightly for the latter, her tone soft to allow the orphans a comfortable slumber
".. I couldn't just leave you alone out in this war-filled place, Jiraiya. Unfortunately, I have a bitch of a conscience."
Prologue (Jiraiya and Tsunade)
Such stealth. How he had cornered her so easily in the darkness and grasped her arm had thrown her off for a moment, allowing Jiraiya a good chance to drag her to the kitchen without much of a struggle. Her hazel eyes widened immediately as the room was suddenly illuminated. And without any hesitation after recognising her “attacker”, she punched him harshly on his arms, though not bone-breaking material, it meant to hurt.
“What the fuc- Jiraiya! You bloody scared me!”
Though she kept her voice quiet to prevent from disturbing the orphans from their sleep, the surprise and rough nature was evident. She simply glared up at him in the warm light for the space of a few moments before softening and heaving a sigh. She couldn’t stay mad at him. After all, it wasn’t exactly his fault. As she calmed, her voice return to its usual gentle tone. “Well… Hello, baka.”

Prologue (Jiraiya and Tsunade)
The dreary rain beat down on the cloaked figure as it arrived at the small hideout. It had been raining considerably more in Amegakure lately, maybe it was a good thing, it washed away the blood. The hood fell to reveal a golden blonde, her young features soft and delicate. Yet this was no “delicate” woman, this was Tsunade - One of the three legendary Sannin.
She slid in the door with lithe movements that rivaled a graceful wildcat, dropping her cloak gently on the ground without any noise. Soft breathing was heard from one room that held the three Âme orphans, Yahiko, Konan, and Nagato, snugly inside. She smiled slightly to herself, looking forward to greeting them in the morning. As she padded gently across the floorboards, she rubbed the top of her arms with a slight shiver. Having a heightened female sensitivity to the cold and being soaked by the heavy rain did nothing to make her comfortable.
Kami, I why did I even come out here?
The answer was rather clear; her teammate. He had been out here alone with these orphans, she couldn’t help but get worried from time to time. Besides, Konoha seemed more like a Hell-hole without his comedic relief. So there she was, creeping through the corridor with the only noise of the rain drumming down on the roof.
