Hey y'all got uhhh ‘big oh energy’??¿?

Our little man is growing up, Stan. He’s growing up.

[forlarnion]

[ Stan ]:

The physical gap between them narrowed. If he so wished he could reach out. He could touch Kyle. It was strange that a simple action taken to get them closer could alleviate some of his doubts. His shoulders seemed to relax, his hands stopped fretting with the sheets although they didn’t relinquish his grasp on them. He seemed more at ease overall. Yet the worry that his memories would not return did not fade. 

Could Kyle really be content with someone that had his friend’s face but might never be anything like him? What if he was someone Kyle grew to dislike? And why was he so worried about what Kyle, who was virtually a stranger, thought?

It would be nice to remember, the sooner the better yet he couldn’t help but hold on to what he was being told. That they could be best friends no matter what. It almost felt like there was no rush to remember, no pressing need to return to who he was. It was a brief instance because he knows the truth. It may not come from this red-haired teen but he’s sure other people expect him to be who he was before. It’s strange that in the person calling himself his best friend he found more reassurance than those who were supposed to be his family.

It’s the phone and the images on it that finally gets Stan to drop the sheet in order to edge himself closer to Kyle. It’s to the point he could practically fall off the bed if he’s not careful. He looks at the different images shown and he’s appreciating them for what they are. It’s then he realizes he never really did doubt Kyle’s claim of being best friends.

“People do that? It seems like a lot of work just to fool someone…”

     Kyle couldn’t help but feel a flood of happiness overcome him when Stan showed interest in his photo album. Part of him felt a spark of hope that they’d help him remember, but he knew better than to let the idea of miracles fog his judgment. He’d prepared himself for the real possibility that his best friend would never remember all the times they’d spent together.

     He turned his phone back to close his applications and turn the screen off. He made doubly sure that it was on silent and put it aside. He didn’t realize it initially, but he’d put his hand out to catch Stan if he did tumble from the bed. Kyle pulled his hand back and grinned.

           “You’d be surprised what people                 would be willing to do, especially around here.”

     He didn’t think anyone would tell Stan about the weird things that happened in this place, but that was a lot to take in at once. Maybe later he’d explain it. For now, he’d put it aside.

          “I’m really glad you’re okay, though.                I thought you were going to, like, die, dude.”

     Was it best to say this now? He didn’t know. It’d be weird not to at least mention it. Kyle couldn’t even recreate how freaked out he’d been at the time, and he didn’t want to somehow upset Stan. He just wanted to show that he’d been concerned.
