I’m surprised no one has bottled up the emotion you feel when you think you’ve worked out a plan to move out and get your own apartment, only to put together a budget and find that you cannot, in fact, afford to move out of your grandparents basement

I am sorry to everyone who tagged me in some tag game and I never responded. I saw it and thought “aww they thought of me” and proceeded to forget about it right after

On one hand I am deeply moved by the notion of being benevolent to small insects and spiders we find in our homes, to take care to remove them rather than kill them because they are small and we are big…however it is so incredibly difficult not to succumb to the deep, gut wrenching fear and paranoia I feel when I see a bug in my room. A daddy long legs? Fine. I have several of them living rent free in the corners of my home. They’re practically invisible from a distance. I don’t mind. But those thicker spiders? No. I’m sorry, you have to go, and I am not going to wait for you to leave. A bee? Oh, sweetie, let me escort you to the door. You must be lost. Here, let me give you a sip of honey and water before you go. A house centipede? Excuse me, sir, have you been acquainted to the bottom of my adidas slide? No? Well, let me introduce you.

I already wasn’t a fan of Taylor Swift….but now I live in the city in the US that probably has had the largest surge in Taylor Swift fans over the past year and this weekend is torture. Get me out.

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

Buying one houseplant is more dangerous than any gateway drug your middle school teachers could ever warn you about. One day you’re buying an innocent little Fittonia, and two months later your a single mother of 8 plants, trying to propagate three others, thinking about how you can best spend your money on your next houseplant to make your room look more and more like a jungle every day

not to be controversial bc I know this is like…not in line with shifting opinions on fanfic comment culture but if there’s a glaring typo in my work I will NOT be offended by pointing it out. if ao3 fucks up the formatting…I will also not be offended by having this pointed out…
‘looking forward to the next update’ and ‘I hope you update soon!’ are different vibes than a demand, and should be read in good faith because a reader is finding their way to tell you how much they love it. I will not be mad at this.
‘I don’t usually like this ship but this fic made me feel something’ is also incredibly high praise. I’m not going to get mad at this.
even ‘I love this fic but I’m curious about why you made [x] choice’ is just another way a reader is engaging in and putting thought into your work.
I just feel like a lot of authors take any comment that’s not perfectly articulated glowing praise in the exact manner they’re hoping to receive it in bad faith.
fic engagement has been dropping across the board over the last several years, and yes it’s frustrating but it isn’t as though I can’t see how it happens. comment anxiety can be a real thing. the last thing anyone wants to do is offend an author they love, and that means sometimes people default to silence.
idk where I’m going with this I guess aside from saying unless a comment is outright attacking me I’m never going to get mad at it, and I think a lot of authors should feel the same way. ESPECIALLY TYPOS PLZ GOD POINT OUT MY TYPOS.

Any bookworms in the chat?
I’m looking for more recommendations. Specifically, I’d like to read more enemies to lovers romances, but I’m picky about when the books are written. I would so very greatly appreciate any recommendations on this post.
(Specifically, I prefer to read stories published prior to 1940-ish. There are definitely some exceptions out there, but I typically don’t read romances that have been published in the last 30 years)
Or if you have any life changing short stories or poems, please send them my way! 🫶🏻
If anyone in return is looking for a recommendation for some enemies to lovers, I HIGHLY recommend the book North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell (don’t worry, it’s not Union vs Confederacy, it takes place in England during the Industrial Revolution)
