Even as she struggled, there was no use. Even as she had tried to converse. To gain some footing, it was not possible. She was not a stranger to pacts with mortals. But Zenos was no mortal. He was a beast she could not break free of. There was nothing in it for her, and yet she was chained to him. Forced to do his bidding. To do as he said, no matter what. Even as she cut down another person for him, she felt.... fire. anger. something she hardly remembered. something she hardly recognized. She had no choice but to help and protect him. Yet... she wanted nothing more than to see him die. To see their pact torn to shreds.

There was no room for questions. There was no way she could reach herself. She was as much a weapon, a tool, for him as the blood-covered scythe.

Like a wounded dog, Zero backs away. Even as hurt as she is, such weakness was only to be met with one thing in her world. Death. Worse than death. There was no death in her world. Only being devoured. Utterly lost in someone else. With a shaking arm, she raises her scythe. It is challenging to stay upright, but she would deal with this on her own.

"I know. Leave."

She fights this unfamiliar mortal. As wounded as she is, she would not be brought into another unfavorable pact. She had nothing to offer this person and thus she could not understand why he would help her. Perhaps he could sense what she was. He could fathom there was a way for him to bend her to his will just as Zenos had. She would rather die. Despite the pain and injuries, she tries to crawl away and put some distance between them. If she could drain some of his aether... perhaps she could flee or end his life, even in her current state.

"Thoughts have no meaning to others. I do not understand." Zero hid her gaze beneath her hat. She truly could not understand mortals. The meaning of the phrase is utterly lost on her.

"...." She lowers the scythe slowly. It was foolish to trust anyone, mortal or not. She had long ago thought that mortals were easier to deal with until she met Zenos. Now she distrusts them more than other voidsent.

"Why?" Zero asked, looking at the food. Though it was true that she needed aether, she could not understand why it would be offered for no reason. Especially if the other was still eating. "You would get nothing out of it."

"I am unharmed." Zero confirms. Though the enemy had caught her off guard, she had managed to evade their attack. Such an ability was important. Had she been fatally injured in her own world, she would have been devoured. She had to be sure to avoid such a fate. Though she had barely managed to dodge the attack, Y'shtola was the one that finished the beast off. Had she been on her own... She pulls her hat down to hide her face.

" I am not causing trouble, so why worry?" the voidsent speaks quietly. In truth, the concept of 'worry' was a strange one. There had been a time, long ago, in which she lived in fear. Even now, she sometimes felt it like hands around her throat. Worrying FOR someone was something she had forgotten long ago. There was no reason for her to do so. She had no care for any other creatures, after all. Y'shtola was right to worry. She was a voidsent and they do not have a good reputation in this world. It was rational for her to worry about Zero taking aether from mortals as they often did. Even if she rather liked only taking from food given. As to not lose more pieces of herself.
