Though Patroclus is an average soldier at best, it is important to note that who he measures himself against is Achilles. As children he had been able to keep up, more or less, with his demigod companion. Patroclus is not in the same league as popular Greek heroes like Achilles, Odysseus, or Ajax, but he’s not entirely incompetent either.

During their joint training under Chiron, Patroclus and Achilles learned how to hunt, heal sick animals, set splints, clean wounds, recognize herbs, plants, fungi and their healing properties, and whether or not they were edible. They also learned carpentry, blade-forging, the art of surgery, reading constellations, plus the myths that go along with them. 

In the war with Troy, Patroclus is able to utilize what he learned on Mount Pelion. He worked to treat the wounded in battle alongside the Greek’s camp physician, Podelarius, and his brother Machaon. . 

NOTES ON THE PORTRAYAL

My portrayal will be based on Madeline Miller’s book, The Song of Achilles, with influences from The Iliad. Patroclus was once the Prince of Opus, Son of King Menoetius and Queen Philomela. At age five, he first caught sight of golden Achilles when his father hosted the games (quite possibly an Olympic-like collection of sports) where Achilles won and was awarded the victor’s garland. 

At age nine, Patroclus set forth a proposal for Helen of Sparta’s hand, which was then rejected as Helen chose to wed Menelaus. This disappointed Menoetius so thoroughly that he angrily pulled his son off a bench so they could leave instead of join the consequent celebration. It was never brought up again. Shortly after, he accidentally murdered a nobleman’s eldest son named Clysonymus, who was harassing Patroclus into surrendering his dice. 

As punishment, Patroclus was exiled to Phthia, after King Peleus paid for him in his weight in gold. He was stripped of his title and disowned. He felt a significant amount of guilt and shame over his circumstances and it made him aloof around Peleus’ other wards. Achilles earned his friendship over time and Patroclus started to spend a lot of time with him.  

Key events from this point onward include their training at Mount Pelion, Thetis’ disapproval of Patroclus’ friendship with her son, Achilles’ hiding in the island of Scyros and his tryst with Princess Daidemaia which resulted in a pregnancy. Patroclus also slept with Daidemaia because the princess seemed desperately lonely. Important to note that Patroclus seemed to have physically enjoyed his time with Daidemaia even though his romantic feelings are exclusively for Achilles. 

Afterwards, when Odysseus found them in Scyros, Achilles and Patroclus are forced to join Menelaus’ war. Princess Iphigenia is brutally sacrificed to the goddess Artemis who Agamemnon has offended. At some point after a raid, Patroclus urged Achilles to rescue a prisoner named Briseis from Agamemon’s grasp. Patroclus and Briseis form an easy friendship and camaraderie. (Later on, Briseis came to harbor romantic feelings for Patroclus, which he said he wanted to return if only his heart wasn’t already tied to another.)

When Achilles’ pride was slighted, he refused to fight against Troy. He held back his forces from the war efforts which caused the Greeks to sustain significant damages. To prevent further deaths, Patroclus donned on the armor of Achilles so he could rouse the Myrmidons into joining the fight. He put himself at the center of it, which caught the attention of Hector. Patroclus ended up being slain by the Prince of Troy.

AS THE FIRST WOODWIFE -- According to Germanic mythology, wood-wives are female guardians of the forest who are known to be altruistic and benevolent towards humans. They usually ask favors from travelers in exchange for a handful of woodchips, which turn to gold the moment the traveler has left the forest. Wood-wives are also known to be adept at using herbs and plants to cure illnesses and ward off evil. Zisa is the first of the wood-wives and all the legends can be traced back to her. She has since shared this vocation with other wood-wives, usually mortal women who are then elevated by Zisa to become forest spirits to continuously guard the forest and those who reside or venture inside it.  

AS A FOREST-BORN -- Zisa was chosen to become a forest-born while Tyr was chosen to become the human vessel for the primordial evil known as The Devourer. Forest-borns are abominations, humans who succumbed to the power of The Great Forest, which is The Devourer’s domain. They have a bond with each other and with the Devourer, and some of his magic and malice are woven into their body, tainting their humanity. Zisa trained to become a forest-born under Old Mother Hunger, the first and most powerful of The Devourer’s forest-born. This taint in her humanity is what allowed her to confront The Devourer in his own realm and save her brother Tyr from possession, by containing the primordial evil in her no-longer-mortal form, until she found a way to defeat him. 

AS THE WIELDER OF DURENDAL -- While searching for a way to free her brother Tyr from the magical trance he was placed under by Old Mother Hunger, Zisa searches a field of bones to ask the dead for help. A pair of bones -- belonging to a brother and sister -- answered her plea, and she took them to the crippled smith, Volund, to be fashioned into swords in exchange for “the delights of her proud body, twice”. Thinking the swords would help slay the Devourer, Zisa agreed, and after the swords are made, she ended up wielding Durendal, which means endurance. Both Joyeuse and Durendal are capable of shrinking into bone needles, and Zisa usually has her bone-sword pinned on her somewhere. 

AS THE GODDESS OF THE DEEP, DARK FOREST -- Zisa eventually saved Tyr and contained the Devourer within her body. She hoped to expel him by sewing charms with red string using Joyeuse and Durendal in their needle forms. The charms were supposed to trick The Devourer to devour itself, and Zisa swallowed them so they can be transported to the Devourer’s realm. After succeeding to vanquish the devourer, Zisa held on to her immortality, and the power of the Great Forest remained inside her. Parts of the deep, dark forest still contain remnants of the primordial evil made of the same fabric as The Devourer, and it is Zisa’s responsibility to stand guard against those forces for the safety of humankind. 

NOTES ON THE PORTRAYAL

Zisa the Goddess barely appears on Germanic lore and her existence is often debated upon by scholars. This portrayal is largely based on the book Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge, and it’s fair to say she’s taken some liberty in explaining Zisa’s myth. For one, Zisa and Tyr’s story is supposed to be a Hansel and Gretel retelling (with Old Mother Hunger as the witch). She also portrays Zisa and Tyr as siblings, while some sources cite Zisa as Tyr’s consort. For this portrayal, I will adhere to them being brother and sister, a prince and a princess of a tribe that resided in what is now Augsburg, Germany.

The sequence of events are as follows ( tw: cannibalism, murder ):

A primordial evil called The Devourer threatened Zisa’s community. He was told to have “swallowed the sun and moon” and plunged the world in darkness. In his service were forest-borns who tormented mortals.

Zisa and Tyr’s father, a tribal leader, believed that this was the way of the world, the weak succumbed to the strong. He eventually offers up her children in the service of the Devourer and the forest-born.

During the ritual to denote the sacrifice, Zisa and Tyr were told by the forest-borns that the first to cut the other’s hand will become a forest-born, the one maimed will become the Devourer’s new vessel. Knowing that Tyr would never harm her, Zisa picked up the sword and cut off Tyr’s hand.

Tyr was then placed under a trance, his body and mind prepared to be possessed by the Devourer. Meanwhile, Zisa was training to become forest-born. While Old Mother Hunger slept, she would descend the basement of her house to speak to her brother, imploring him to remember her and his name, which the forest-born wanted him to forget. One day, from his trance, Tyr told Zisa “Only the leavings of the wolf can kill the wolf” which gave her the idea to search the field of bones of the Devourer’s previous victims.

Zisa brought the bones of the unnamed brother and sister to Volund, and the crippled smith fashioned them into swords that shrink down to needles, in exchange for the delights of Zisa’s proud body, twice. 

Zisa returned to Old Mother Hunger’s hut to find out that Tyr had been transported to prepare him for the possession. Old Mother Hunger told Zisa that if she wanted to be there for her brother, she had to kill her mother and father and bring their hearts back to the hut. She did as she was asked, and Old Mother Hunger asked Zisa to cook the hearts and eat them with her.

Afterwards, Zisa was eventually allowed to go where Tyr was. Before The Devourer possessed Tyr, Zisa danced for him, and so enchanted he was by her that she granted her one wish. Zisa asked to see the devourer face to face, and he breathed on her to transport her to his domain. From there, instead of seeking out the devourer, Zisa fetched the orbs that represented the sun and moon and released them back into the sky. The light from the moon immediately killed Old Mother Hunger.

Tyr woke up from his trance and Zisa was spat back out by The Devourer. The plan was that they each wield Joyeuse and Durendal to end the Devourer once and for all, but The Devourer informed Tyr of what happened to their parents, and told them that he had hold of their souls. In exchange for saving their souls, The Devourer wanted Zisa to go back to his realm to search for them, but it was a trick, and he ended up possessing her. 

Upon realizing what happened, Tyr stabbed Zisa with Joyeuse, incapacitating The Devourer and plunging Zisa into a trance. Zisa’s forest-born body was just barely enough to keep the power of The Devourer at bay, and his primordial evil continued to spill into the lands, despite the sun and moon being back in the sky.

Zisa dreamed and dreamed, and eventually realized how to defeat the Devourer. Instructing Tyr through writing, Zisa sew charms with red strings, using the needle forms of Joyeuse and Durendal. She defeated by the Devourer by swallowing the charms and tricking the Devourer to devour itself. The ordeal left Zisa her tainted humanity, the consequence of becoming forest-born, and the power of The Great Forest still contained inside her. 

Now Zisa is the Goddess that guards man-kind against the darkness of the deep forest. She continues to perform her duty as a wood-wife. 

Tyr, whose body was once prepared to become The Devourer’s vessel, is now also immortal, and his godhood has its own myths related to it.

It is important to note that in Crimson Bound, Zisa was not the one to kill The Devourer. This is something I am adapting in my own interpretation based on my own headcanons. 

REGARDING NORSE MYTHOLOGY: Tyr is more well-known as a Norse deity than a German one, and he is known to be the god whose hand was bitten off by Fenrir, a son of Loki. In a Norse Mythology setting, Zisa is still the sister of Tyr, which means that yes, she is an aesir (and a child of Odin), and Zisa still cut off his hand once to prevent him from making a decision she knew would weigh heavily on him. But Zisa mended him using her own godly powers after their ordeal was done. However, the second time Tyr loses his hand, she deemed it to be his fault (all of the aesir’s fault, actually) for binding Fenrir in a needless show of cruelty and superiority, and if he asks, she will refuse to heal him. It is important to know that Zisa resides in Midgard and has no interest in the politics of Asgard. Because the source material I have been exposed regarding Norse Mythology has a more sympathetic view of Loki and their children, so Zisa will adapt the same mentality. She is patiently awaiting Ragnarok, but she has no interest in taking a side in it.

EDIT: will incorporate this properly soon, but in a Norse myth setting, I will HC that “The Devourer” is a darkness that once resided in Niðavellir. It pit Zisa and Tyr against each other, saying that they have to cut off the other’s hand to decide who will became its new vessel and who will be its new lieutenant of sorts. Since Tyr hesitated, Zisa cut off his hand. The Devourer then sought to possess Tyr and make Zisa his foremost soldier, but not before Zisa defeated it by trickery. Tyr is released, but Zisa had to contain the Devourer in her own body, until she managed to weave the red yarns and swallow them, to compel The Devourer to devour itself. Afterwards, Zisa healed Tyr with her yarn. It is said that The Devourer’s power left remnants of itself in Zisa, and that she has become “tainted” by this eldritch horror. 

(If any of the Norse stuff is questionable, please let me know. I am still learning about it and has just recently finished three podcast episodes regarding Loki from Parcast Network’s Mythology.)

REGARDING MARVEL: The main points of the story are kept the same. Zisa is an aesir or in Marvel terms, is an Asgardian. She is the sister of Tyr, the one-handed and dual-natured god of bloodshed and order. They are Odin’s offspring of unknown maternal heritage, and are therefore, Thor’s half-siblings. Unlike other Asgardians however, Zisa resides in Midgard. This came after she and Tyr battled and defeated a primordial evil in Nilfheim (Niðavellir), the coldest and darkest region in the Nine Realms. Zisa contained an evil inside herself called The Devourer and then tricked it to devour itself. As a result, Zisa carries some of The Devourer’s power inside her which somehow made the rest of the gods suspicious of her. The goddess then decided to move to Midgard and reside in the deepest, darkest parts of its forests, protecting humanity from the evil that also lurked there using her powers as a divine entity and the residual power of the primordial evil she once captured inside her. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: The rest of the Asgardians have no idea where Zisa fucked off to when she left Asgard. All they know is that she has exiled herself and has kept herself hidden even from Heimdall. Only Odin (if he so chooses) can find Zisa whenever he is atop his throne, which makes him all-seeing.

Her degrees in criminal psychology enable her to empathize with her mark, to know what makes them tick and anticipate their course of action. Thus it also allows her to play her role better, no matter the cover she has to assume.

TRAINING: Sharon underwent S.H.I.E.L.D. special agent training in hand-to-hand combat and weapons’ handling. She also took additional martial arts lessons as a child and well into adulthood, specializing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muai-Thai, and Pekiti Tirsia Kali. 

STRENGTH: Sharon possesses the normal human strength for a woman her age, height and build who engages in regular intensive exercise. Keep in mind that canonically, she is able to keep up with powered humans and non-humans in terms of skill if not stamina, including Steve Rogers, The Winter Soldier, and Valkyrie. 

OTHERS: Sharon is an expert driver (both stick and automatic) and can also fly quinjets, helicarriers, and similar aircraft. 

NOTES ON THE PORTRAYAL

This portrayal will be a mix of Earth-616 and Marvel Cinematic Universe influences. I will rely heavily on my own headcanons based on the mixed canon material. Sharon is, of course, known as Peggy Carter’s niece and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Agent Thirteen. In my main verse, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been dissolved and Sharon is either working for the CIA or with Captain America as a Secret Avenger. In MCU-based threads, she is on the run from the US Government after the events of Captain America: Civil War. 

At the moment, I am in the process of rereading the comics (I’ve read them when I was way younger and I have forgotten a lot) so please bear with me! I will most likely focus on MCU-based threads at least until I catch up with Ed Brubaker’s run of Captain America. I have mentioned this before and I will say it again: I absolutely adore the dynamic between Sharon and Peggy in the comics. I believe they unreservedly loved and supported each other and no man can come between that, which is why Hayley Atwell’s comment about Staron, Sharon, and EVC is so disheartening. That said, I will not write with Peggy Carter interpretations who use Hayley as her play-by.

AIR PRESSURE MANIPULATION. Zoya is a Grisha belonging to the Etherealki or the Order of Summoners. She is an immensely powerful Squaller, able to manipulate air pressure to a great degree, enough to use it in hurling objects at enemies or inflating a ship’s sails to move it forward. Her power is further enhanced by her amplifier, which she acquired at age thirteen, a silver cuff made of tiger’s teeth meant to magnify her abilities. As one of the most accomplished Grishas of her time, Zoya is amongst the Darkling’s most favored soldiers.

LIGHTNING AND STORM MANIPULATION. Perhaps due to her tremendous powers as a squaller, Zoya was eventually able to summon lightning and thunder and cause thunderstorms. This earned her the moniker Storm Witch, possibly bestowed to her by Ravka’s enemies. 

ARE WE NOT ALL THINGS? In the events of King of Scars, Sankt Juris shatters Zoya’s amplifier and she feels the loss of it like the loss of a limb. However, Juris also teaches Zoya that the heart of Grisha power is the heart of all things, and therefore she should not be confined by her amplifier or by one Grisha order alone. When Zoya is forced to kill an already dying Juris, she merges with him and the dragon he has slain many years ago, giving her all their memories and their abilities. She then proceeds to scrape the scales from Juris’ back, who has transformed into the dragon in his death, and used her newfound Fabrikator abilities to create a new amplifier for herself. After the events of King of Scars, Zoya now has power over all elements, no longer limited by only one Grisha order.

NOTES ON THE PORTRAYAL

Zoya’s background pre-trilogy is laid down neatly in her wikia page. I will adhere to the canonical history of Zoya — from her childhood in Pachina to her mother Sabina’s disproportionate love for herself compared to her love for her daughter and her husband, to her capitalizing on Zoya’s beauty to get ahead in life, going so far as to arrange a marriage between a nine year old Zoya and a significantly older man, to her father’s refusal to immerse Zoya in his own culture, a culture that his wife looked down upon and that he in turn tried to bury. 

Liliyana is a defining figure in Zoya’s life, and she is eternally grateful for what her aunt did for her. Zoya’s power was stirred by her desperate need to save Liliyana, the only person in her life who showed her love without an agenda, from the violence of Valentin Grankin, her supposed groom. Safe to say that she was also angry at her mother, for using her as a means to an end instead of taking care of her, and at her father, who allowed himself to broken down so thoroughly he had forgotten how to stand up for his child and himself. 

Even before her Grisha powers manifested, Zoya had always been a hard-worker. She worked for her mother’s affection tirelessly, not hesitating to endanger herself to ensure it, and she also dreamed of being drafted into the first army. When she came into the little palace, Zoya wanted a place of belonging. A place where she wouldn’t be valued solely for her physical beauty, but for her talents and abilities. She worked hard to be a distinguished squaller. She worked hard for her amplifier. Zoya climbed the ladder from the bottom up.

Zoya valued her place among the Darkling’s favored because she earned it. She spent literal blood, sweat, and tears to achieve her rank. It hit her especially hard when she realized it mattered very little in the grand scheme of the Darkling’s ambitions. When he turned his power to Novokribirsk and killed Zoya’s aunt and niece, it was more than enough reason for her to turn her back on him. He thoughtlessly murdered her family to achieve his goals. Zoya couldn’t allow him to ruin the Second Army, too. With Liliyana and Lana dead, they’re the only family she has left.

BACKGROUND OVERVIEW

Abigail Hobbs is the daughter of the cannibalistic serial killer Garret Jacob Hobbs, also known as the Minnesota Shrike. He abducted and killed eight young women from eight different Minnesota campuses who had the same hair color, eye color, and age. All these women looked like his daughter Abigail, who he was very close to and was secretly obsessed with. To prevent himself from murdering Abigail, he resorted to murdering women who looked like her while using her as a bait.

Garret and Abigail had a very tight father-daughter relationship. He taught her how to hunt which she skillfully excelled at, and he seemed like the average father outside of his serial killing tendencies. However, Abigail constantly feared for her life around Garret, and acted as a lure for his victims reluctantly. She knew that if she didn’t entice the girls into her father’s grasp, she would be the one her father would kill. 

When FBI Special Agent Will Graham finally figured out the Minnesota Shrike’s identity, Hannibal Lecter (his psychiatrist, who was keeping a close eye on Will due to his unique mental disposition) called Garret’s house to inform them that the authorities were coming. Abigail answered the call before giving the phone to her father, initially hearing Hannibal’s voice. Garret panicked and killed his wife, attempting to kill Abigail as well before Will Graham shot him dead. She was left with a slash on the side of her neck but survived the ordeal thanks to Will Graham, who tried his best to subdue the bleeding.

Abigail wound up in a coma for a few days, and woke up thoroughly traumatized by her experiences. She was sent to Port Haven Psychiatric Facility in Baltimore, Maryland, to recover from her psychological scars. Special Agent Jack Crawford, Will Graham’s superior and head of the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit, was convinced that Abigail was more than just a victim, but a willing accessory to her father’s crime. He was determined to convict her despite the fact that she was only seventeen years old. 

Will and Hannibal bonded with Abigail after witnessing her near-death at the hands of her own father. They became attached to her and started treating her as their surrogate daughter. At some point, Abigail expressed a desire to become an FBI agent and demonstrated impressive aptitude for the psychological aspect of the job. However, Abigail fell prey to Hannibal’s manipulations, and he took advantage of her naivete and mental instability. Hannibal took on the mantle of the Minnesota Shrike, becoming a copycat killer and murdering Abigail’s close (and at that point, only) friend, Marissa Schurr. He then convinced Abigail that a man named Nicholas Boyle killed her, the brother of one of her father’s victims. Abigail is confronted by Nicholas and ends up stabbing him in self defense. His murder served to further destabilize her already fragile mental capacity.  

NOTES ON THE PORTRAYAL

Abigail is said to have a “soft and a naïve personality that inspired protective feelings in most people she met”. According to her psychiatrist Dr. Alana Bloom, she also had a “knack for manipulation”. This is Abigail’s trauma response to an entire lifetime’s experience of fearing for her own safety. She was also said to be “highly intelligent but unaware of her own manipulative tendencies” which means that her manipulation does not come from a place of malice, but from a keen sense of self preservation.

However, Abigail was also young and for the entirety of her life (yes, even after her father’s death) afraid, which made her “highly suggestible” as exhibited by how she was coerced by her father into helping him kill his victims, and how she was brainwashed by Hannibal into believing him, even after finding out that he was the copycat killer, and a hundred times worse than the Minnesota Shrike could ever be.

BACKGROUND OVERVIEW

Shiera was a known seductress who took many lovers to her bed, including her half-brothers Brynden and Aegor Rivers. Though she never saw it fit to wed, she never ran out of offers, and men often fought for the honor of her favor. It was said that the Lord Bloodraven asked for Shiera’s hand in marriage a hundred times, and she turned him down a hundred times as well. However, she seemed to enjoy his company a great deal, just as much as she liked making him jealous.

A voracious reader, Shiera was learned and accomplished at an early age. She spoke many languages aside from the Common Tongue including High and low Valyrian, the Lysene dialect, Lhazareen, and the Summer Tongue. Her collection of books grew so much over the years that she had to build and maintain an arcane library, which compounded the gossip that she’s a sorceress. 

Rumors flew left and right about lovely Shiera Seastar. Not only was she the most beautiful face in all the realm, she was also one of the most feared. They said she took after her mother and practiced the arcane arts of Lys, and that she aided Lord Bloodraven with sorcery as he performed his obligations as Hand of the King.

The necklace she wore around her neck, a heavy silver chain alternating with sapphires and emeralds to compliment her most unusual eyes, were said to possess some kind of unnatural power. Lady Shiera’s mother was told to be much older than she looked but maintained her beauty through sorcery, and there was no shortage of similar talk surrounding the Star of the Sea herself.

Shiera never discouraged the rumors and by all means, seemed to thrive off of them. She was a woman and a bastard born. She would take all the lavish praises she could get, and if her fame brought along whispers and fear, then she would take them, too.

BACKGROUND OVERVIEW

Ashara attended the tourney at Harrenhal in 281 AC, the year she turned 18 years old. At the tourney, she shared dances with many ardent admirers, most notable of whom was Eddard stark, the second son of the Lord of Winterfell. 

Gentlemanly though the Quiet Wolf may be, Ashara’s eyes were set on his brother, the Wild Wolf. At the tourney, she and Brandon Stark shared a few nights together, and before she knew it, the Lady of Starfall was in-love. It was unwise, to say the least. Lord Rickard’s heir was promised to another, though that did not stop Ashara and Brandon from meeting a few more times after the tourney had concluded. 

Their forbidden trysts eventually resulted in a pregnancy, and by 282 AC, Ashara had to be escorted back to Starfall before her belly began protruding in earnest. Parted from the princess Elia, whom Ashara considered her dearest friend, her pregnancy became a bleak affair, punctuated only by moments of joy shared between her and her sister, Allyria.

When Lyanna Stark was pronounced missing and Brandon and his father murdered by the Mad King, grief overcame the Lady of Starfall. Her hours of excruciating labor resulted in a stillbirth, and a yawning abyss of emptiness opened up where her heart used to be.

Nevertheless, when Arthur sent for a midwife to help Lyanna Stark on the birthing bed, Ashara secretly journeyed with her to the Tower of Joy. There, she would reunite with her brother for the last time, though both of them were unaware of it. The she-wolf’s labor was long and hard and bloody, and when Ashara left to return to Starfall, she was under the impression that she would soon die. 

Grief after grief followed after. Elia and her children mercilessly murdered, her brother killed by a man she considered a friend. Not even a day after meeting again with Eddard stark, when he returned Arthur’s sword to his family, Ashara jumped off of Palestone Sword and into the sea, never to be seen again. Or so the story goes.

TALENTS AND ABILITIES

INTELLIGENCE: High. A naturally sharp girl, Lyanna was privileged enough to be educated by a septa. She was taught the practical arts of sewing, knitting, and embroidery, producing passable results. She was also taught painting, singing, dancing, and poetry, though she preferred to listen to poems, stories, and songs rather than perform them herself, and her artistic skills were mediocre at best. Additionally, Lyanna was educated in arithmetic, geography, and traditional medicine, which she excelled at, and of course, etiquette befitting that of a lady in her position, which she learned thoroughly despite finding it tedious. 

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Lyanna took naturally to horse-riding as though she was “half a horse herself”, as observed by Roose Bolton. Though forbidden by her father, Lyanna was encouraged to pick up a sword and shield by her brother Brandon, who did not want her to be helpless. He trained her to block and parry,  attack and defend. As her skills progressed, she went on to beg him to teach her how to use a bow and arrow and a knife. As a result, Lyanna grew to become an accomplished fighter, and by 281 ac, she was competent enough to defeat three squires on her own during the tourney of Harrenhal while masquerading as the Knight of the Laughing Tree.

SUPERNATURAL GIFTS: All Stark children were Wargs, and Lyanna was no different. Not only did she possess the same ability as so many Starks before and after her, she was also a Greenseer, albeit one who was untrained in the arts. Lyanna had green dreams after catching a fever on her way back to Winterfell from the tourney at Harrenhal, and they would persist all her life afterwards. During her self-imposed exile in the free cities, she met a Warg who taught her how to become a proper one, but she left the green dreams alone and did not pursue the path of becoming a trained Greenseer. It took a considerable amount of time, but she eventually managed the art of Warging. She was careful to slip into another being’s skin, But she did so frequently as she returned to Westeros to help her family and find her son.

NOTES ON THE PORTRAYAL

FOR FURTHER UNDERSTANDING OF HOW I PORTRAY LYANNA,  PLEASE READ THROUGH HER HEADCANON TAG. This characterization will not follow popular fanon interpretations of her character. You can come to me for questions if you have them! As it stands, here are some NON-NEGOTIABLE aspects of my portrayal: 

LYANNA IS THE KNIGHT OF THE LAUGHING TREE. At this point, this is as good as canon, and I will claim it as canon on this blog.   

LYANNA WAS FOUND OUT BY BOTH RHAEGAR, AND ULTIMATELY HIS FATHER. It’s the reason behind Rhaegar crowning Lyanna the Queen of Love and Beauty by the end of the tourney. As for the Mad King, he was not happy about the appearance of the KOTLT  (as we were told in The World of Ice and Fire ) and per my headcanon, eventually ordered for Lyanna’s arrest when he realized it was her who masqueraded as the knight.

RHAEGAR HELPED LYANNA AVOID THE KING’S JUSTICE. It’s one of the two reasons she went with him from the Riverlands to the Tower of Joy in dorne. Both Lyanna and Rhaegar were unaware of Brandon and Rickard Stark’s murder at the hands of the Mad King as a result of this “escape”,  until Gerold Hightower found them in Dorne post-Battle of the Bells. 

LYANNA STARK IS A GREENSEER. This is another reason why she went with Rhaegar willingly. Initially, she was made aware of the prophecy by a wildling who possessed the Green Sight during The Year of False Spring. She attended the tourney at Harrenhal shortly after, and on the way home to Winterfell after the festivities, she contracted a fever which triggered her Green Dreams. More on this headcanon here. 

LYANNA DISLIKED HER ENGAGEMENT WITH ROBERT,  BUT NOT ENOUGH TO RUN AWAY WITH A MARRIED PRINCE FOR “LOVE”. This was the same 14-year old girl who voiced her discomfort at being married to a womanizer, so quite frankly i don’t think Lyanna Stark would purposely disrespect Elia Martell in this way. Yes, she went with Rhaegar on her own accord, but not because they were “in love”.

LYANNA STARK IS ALIVE. Situations vary from verse to  verse, but the default verse is her self-imposed exile to the Free Cities so she can keep her son safe. Ned promised to raise Jon as his own, and Lyanna promised to bid her time until it was safe to come back home.
