❛   yeah  ?  well  ,  no  one's  forcing  you  to  .   ❜   lips  furl  into  a  frown  of  agitation  as  she  rolls  her  eyes  ,  turning  as  she  shrugs  a  single  shoulder  in  a  passive  act  of  pretend  nonchalance  .  her  attitude  reads  that  wouldn't  give  less  of  a  fuck  if  caitlyn  walked  away  right  now  ,  but  her  heart  is  pleading  for  her  to  stay  in  silence  .  she  continues  onward  with  a  frustrated  confidence  ,  the  way  she  walks  clearly  less  relaxed  and  honed  in  on  focus  ,  speed  ,  and  destination  .  suddenly  ,  this  trek  is  less  about  the  journey  ,  and  entirely  about  getting  it  over  with   .   .   .   despite  the  fact  that  she  wouldn't  trade  cait's  company  for  anything  .

allowing  enough  space  to  gather  between  them  ,  she  turns  ,  locking  eyes  with  the  woman  whose  grip  on  her  heart  is  unrelenting  ,  and  sighs  .  even  her  silence  is  so  clearly  telling  .   ❛   look  ,  let's  just  get  to  your  place  and  we  can  sort  out  the  details  later  .   ❜   she  yearns  for  that  warm  and  homely  comfort  too  ,  she  always  has  .  but  it's  something  she's  never  had  the  privilege  to  admit  .  there's  comfort  in  chaos  after  all  ,  when  that's  all  one's  ever  known  .

❛   and let's make it snappy  ?   ❜ the cold and dreary weather's coming in with the sunfall , but she'll not disclose it as the reason for her command - like request .

❛   so  ,  don't  .   ❜   she  speaks  in  a  manner  so  matter  -  of  -  fact  ,  like  the  answer's  obvious  ,  like  she  lacks  the  ability  to  feel  it  too  .  but  she  does  .  more  than  anything  .  because  these  memories  she  refuses  to  give  up  on  are  people  that  she  loves  and  she  cannot  help  but  to  hold  onto  who  they  used  to  be  so  that  they  might  not  slip  away  from  her  .  she  can't  bear  the  thought  of  losing  someone  she  loves  .  not  when  they  still  walk  this  earth  and  breathe  this  air  .

she  shifts  her  leg  closer  to  her  ,  the  top  of  her  thigh  pressed  against  her  abdomen  ,  and  she  frowns  for  a  moment  .  disappointment  is  clear  on  her  features  ,  but  only  briefly  ,  before  she  realizes  the  possession  of  this  vulnerability  .

there's  a  half  -  hearted  smirk  that  toys  at  her  quirked  upper  lip  and  she  nudges  tifa  teasingly  ,  ❛   giving  up's  the  easy  way  out  .   ❜  soft  blue  eyes  drift  to  the  sky  and  the  vast  fullness  of  nostalgic  longing  permeates  the  outside  air  .  she  leans  back  to  get  a  better  look  ,  then  closes  her  eyes  .  ❛   and  you're  no  quitter  .  not  that  i  can  tell  anyway  .   ❜
