"like  you  will  ever  let  me,"  sydney  rolled  her  eyes,  a  smirk  cracking  through  her  (pretend)  hard  exterior.  there  was  such  an  ease  around  elena  that  sydney  felt  grateful  for.  through  her  many  turbulent  relations,  she  was  happy  to  have  one  where  things  felt  comfortable.  even,  safe.  "oh,  as  if  you  need  me  to  tell  you  how  amazing  you  are, it's stupidly unfair for everyone else really,"  she  shrugged  her  shoulders,  throwing  her  own  mat  down  next  to  elena.  "but i  thought  that  was  what  your  morning  mirror  affirmations  time  was  for?"  she  teased,  attempting  to  diffuse  her  previous  compliment  as  if  leaving  it  hanging  for  too  long  was  dangerous.

elena  rolled  her  eyes  but  couldn’t  help  a  smirk  as  she  straightened  up,  crossing  her  arms  with  a  mock  look  of  offense.  "and  here  I  was,  thinking  maybe  you  missed  me,"  she  sighed  dramatically,  lifting  a  hand  to  wipe  away  an  imaginary  tear.  "all  those  years  of  friendship,  and  yet  not  a  single  early  morning  visit  to  shower  me  with  compliments?  honestly,  syd,  i’m  heartbroken."  she  shot  sydney  a  quick,  teasing  glance,  her  usual  reserved  demeanor  softening.

" oh,  spare  me,  lane !"  sydney  hadn't  meant  to  wake  up  so  early,  though  she  had  to  admit  she  could  appreciate  the  ambiance  at  the  avalon  in  the  early  hours.  sleep  was  no  longer  an  option  and  so,  the  next  best  thing  for  her  to  do  was  to  head  to  the  gym and get an early start on her day.  she  figured  it  would  be  empty  but  really,  knowing  elena  as  long  as  she  has,  she  should've  expected  her  there.  "if  i'm  ever  willingly  up  at  this  hour,  it  is  definitely  not  to  come  watch  you  flail  around  at  the  gym."

elena  moved  through  her  morning  yoga  routine,  savoring  the  rare  stillness  of  the  early  hours  around  the  avalon.  she’d  come  here  to  be  alone,  to  quiet  her  thoughts  after  another  sleepless  night.  but,  that  only  lasted  so  long  before,  she  caught  a  faint  movement  out  of  the  corner  of  her  eye.  without  breaking  her  pose,  she  let  out  a  slow,  annoyed  sigh,  "can  i  help  you?"  she  questioned,  her  tone  as  flat  as  her  facial  expression.  "or  is  creeping  around  in  the  early  hours  just  …  your  thing?"

" a  bit  forward  there,  aren't  we ?"  sydney  spins,  coming  face  to  face  directly  with  loren  and  offers  a  little  wave  to  the  camera  behind  attempting  to  film  their  interaction.  " you  could  at  least  get  me  a  drink,  or  you  know,  three  —  most  definitely  three  —  before  i  go  spilling  my  guts  to  you."

"oh look! there's another one!" he stares right into the lens of a camera, despite having been warned not to. "apparently they can't use the scenes if we look at them. quick, tell me your deepest darkest secret."

hand  frozen  mid-air,  hot  sauce  hovering  over  a  salad  bowl  as  she  watched  it  seep  out  of  the  bottle.  " this ? "  she  gestured  as  she  continued  pouring.  " believe  me  when  i  tell  you,  this  is  not  the  worst  thing  i've  had. "  sydney  had  a  high  tolerance  for  spice  but  looking  at  how  much  she'd  put  into  her  meal,  even  she  knew  she  was  pushing  it  a  little.  "  hot  ones,  if  you're  watching,  i  am  available !"
