the doctor always has a huge phobia of the thing that killed them in their previous life. five fucking hates heights. four doesn't like spiders. ten is the exception because he is weirdly fond of kissing girls

the thing about regeneration is it turns you into a total fucking idiot. doesn't matter who you are, if you regenerate off gallifrey, outside of a zero room, You Are Fucked. you are going to do a bunch of stupid shit that you barely remember and then crash out for a week. besides the doctor, whose regenerations are always disastrous, there are two time lords we know fairly well who regenerate onscreen. romana's bright idea? start cycling through bodies to annoy the doctor. the master's bright idea? become prime minister of the uk. try as hard as you like, but without a zero room, you're going to fuck up horribly.

two and three may fucking hate each other but if they met literally any other post-three doctor they'd immediately band together to start tearing their future self to shreds like an old gay married couple

clara oswald is maybe one of the most unhinged dw companions of all time: she was prepared to lock the doctor out of the tardis

Finding out they had to fake Tennant and Gatwa catching the ball in The Giggle feels a bit like learning they also had to fake Smith kicking those football goals in The Lodger.
A proud Doctor Who tradition: making the Doctor suspiciously competent at sportsball, even when the actors are anything but.

doctor who is crazy because when you're watching as a child it's a fairytale with monsters and heroes but when you're an adult it's suddenly about melancholy, the passage of time, obsession, guilt, faith & worship. but at the same time that's exactly what a fairytale is.

the silurians are such a fucked up concept like imagine if you went to sleep and when you woke up ants had invented nuclear weapons and they've renamed the earth to antworld and they keep trying to kill you and when you try to kill them back a god shows up and is like can't you guys just get along :( and you're like i was literally here first and also they're ants. what the fuck man

Hello good pollster.
Here is my next poll suggestion, if that is okay:
Do you often rewatch episodes of Doctor Who you've seen before?
•Yes
•Rarely
•No
•Nuanse?
Definitely okay! I love poll suggestions, it means less work for me :) And also questions I’d never have thought of.

How do you tend to prefer to number doctor who seasons/series?
•Classic (Season 1 in 1963, most recent series Season 41)
•NuWho... (Series 1 in 2005, most recent series Series 15)
•Disney-associated era [also NuWho] (Season 1 in 2023/2024, most recent series Season 2)
•None of these / I refuse to number the series / other

I love fandoms that my mutuals are in where I can enjoy some good art by proxy, and I know I wouldn’t enjoy the canon material but hearing about pushing your blorbos down the stairs is fun anyway

Does anyone else really miss three part doctor who episodes?
To my knowledge, the only formal three part episodes in the revived series have been Utopia-Last of the Time Lords, and Extremis-The Lie of the Land (though I could see an argument for Face the Raven-Hell Bent or The Haunting of Villa Diodati-The Timeless Children)
Both formal examples (and even the pseudo examples) followed the same story but over multiple different settings, character groups, and time periods, which set them apart from two parters which tended to follow the exact same setting and characters between parts (for example, S3E111-S3E12 took place at the end of the universe w/ futurekind, in the present day w/ governments, and in a dystopian near future w/ survivors).
Interestingly, no episode really felt oddly paced to me either - they were just stories that needed three parts to grow, and I am so grateful there was a time where those could happen (Last of the Time Lords ending notwithstanding)
After the last two seasons, I think I just miss when stories could take up however much time the writers felt they needed. I miss when stories were flexible in their length - it gave each season its own kind of rhythm.
