It wasn't a storm that drove the vessel aground on the Cape Peninsula at Sandy Bay near Llandudno on the 18th January 1986. It simply came too close to the shore at low tide, and the crew ended up being closer to the nudist beach than they'd perhaps anticipated. Beach-goers, several wearing just their birthday suits, rallied to assist by holding the yacht steady while a towline was attached.
