One of the funniest superpowers would be super speed but no sped-up perception of time. You just take off running at the speed of light, can't see shit because you're faster than light around you, and slam dunk straight into a wall at lethal speed and die.

Gotta be honest, demanding to know someone's AGAB is a huge break of privacy and it is not dramatic to say that it constitutes harassment.

Strange but common phenomenon on the internet where someone goes “literally everyone from the moon is a child murderer” and someone is like “hey im from the moon and literally nobody i know is a child murderer most of us are nice people” and then people are like “shut up moon dweller nobody said that literally everyone from the moon kills children”

a while ago i attended this lecture on autism. guy in the audience said he had many of the symptoms that were presented and asked what should he do to get treatment and possibly a diagnosis. instead of answering his question the psychologist went on a tangent about how “the clinic reigns all powerful over guesswork”, and how actually it has become a trend amongst little children on the internet to claim that they are autistic for cool points, and that this hurts real autistic people. no she didn’t tell him how to get his symptoms looked into, she just made it very clear that to her, aknowledging your own symptoms is bad and evil and hurts the poor real mentally ill people.
an ex-friend of mine, then a psychology major and by now probably a full psychologist, once lectured me on how horrible and bad it was that i told her “i probably have some sort of neurodivergency”, and that if i were her patient she would never give me a diagnosis because “you aren’t like this now, but i know that if you get a diagnosis you’ll use it as an excuse to start treating people badly. that’s just how mentally ill people are.”
same ex-friend was extremely disgusted when she found out that fans sometimes make neurodivergency headcanons for characters that have the same symptoms as they do, and that authors sometimes write books with neurodivergent protagonists in stories that don’t focus on that (ex: she seemed horrified that percy jackson has adhd?)
multiple psychologists i’ve seen on facebook agree that they should refuse to treat patients that say “i’m here because i have symptoms of a disorder and wonder if i have it”, and that a patient should arrive to a psychologist as a blank slate.
school psychologist asked me how i was feeling about my trauma situation and i told him i thought my friends would leave me. instead of addressing the issue he said that that no i didn’t, that i was lying, that i had searched “bpd symptoms” online and now i was faking symptoms because i wanted to have bpd, that he shouldn’t have told me he suspected i had a personality disorder because now look what was happening. no, i didn’t search bpd symptoms online. yes, my friends left me, it was a completely founded belief and not a symptom, let alone a faked symptom.
so the next time you hear someone saying they’re “anti self-diagnosis” i want you to understand what they’re saying. what they’re saying is:
- i don’t want people to be aware of their own symptoms
- i don’t think my patients should have access to any information that doesn’t come from me
- i don’t think neurodivergent people should learn how to cope with their symptoms and live “normal” lives
- i think neurodivergent people should be denied a diagnosis because the moment they get one they will become evil and dangerous
- i don’t think people who don’t look like a stereotype could possibly be neurodivergent, even if they have all the symptoms, so i think they are faking it for attention and should be denied treatment

you know when you’re eating a sandwich and you go to take a bite and like a huge chunk of your favorite part just slips out (like say your eating a blt and you accidentally pull out a whole piece of bacon) and you’re torn because on the one hand that bite is going to be the best bite ever but on the other hand the rest of your sandwich just lost a valuable team player 3 minutes into the game and no one’s sure how it’s going to be able to cover that loss.

Again, this is older theory at this point, but basically:
Just like how there is a difference between racism, which all POC experience, and anti-blackness, which specifically describes the racism black people must combat in their everyday lives, "transphobia" is the catch-all for prejudice against transgender people.
Transphobia is the negative reaction parents have when their children say they are transgender. Transphobia is the refusal to respect pronouns. Transphobia is marking gravestones as their legal/birth name.
But when a trans woman is killed after a night with her lover because someone became enraged at the idea that this woman could be happy in herself? That's transmisogyny. It's disgust at her transgender status- transphobia. It's disgust that she is an 'incorrect' woman- transphobia and misogyny. It's a judgement on her womanhood itself- misogyny. That specific intersection, is transmisogyny.
A trans man was brutally raped by a cis man, beaten, abused. When he went to the police, he was brushed off and considered hysterical, crazy, a woman who was asking for it, an 'incorrect' woman deluded into thinking 'she' was a man. When his rapist discovered the report, he and a friend returned to the trans man's house and stabbed him multiple times before shooting him dead execution style. They also killed two of his friends sleeping in the same room. Is this... not an example of misogyny and transphobia? This is a true story, and this trans man's corpse lies still with an unmarked gravestone because his mother was afraid of vandalism. The news report of his death used his birth name and called him a 'female cross dresser' and a 'female tranny'. There is an SNL bit where they make fun of him and say he deserved his death.
So if we are to say that 'transmisogyny' as a word is the intersection of transphobia and misogyny, then we need to acknowledge that it is more than trans women who experience this.
And if we are to say that 'transmisogyny' is specifically only for what trans fems experience, then we cannot be surprised that trans mascs have created a different word to talk about their own experiences with that intersection. Especially considering there are fringe groups who believe trans mascs experience neither transphobia nor misogyny.
Again, this is theory that was taught to me, a decade ago, by a trans woman who is my parents' age. I'm sure some parts of theory has evolved since then, but it's shocking to me how quickly we forget our own history.

As someone in and around their 30’s it has been INSANE to see feminism in popular media descend through
Women can wear pants and play sports and that’s equality. Women don’t just belong inside the house. This woman has a career
This woman can be a mechanic just like a man could. She’s probably still a lesbian, though, which is basically the closest to a man a woman can *be*, and explains everything. But she’s still a person!
If a woman superhero CHOOSES to wear stilettos to fight crime, that’s girl power! This comic character written and designed by men wears a bikini and has a waist size of 12 inches because it makes her FEEL POWERFUL! Girls don’t HAVE to dress boyish to be strong! She can make you a sandwich AND be a feminist! Girl power!
What, are you saying women HAVE to do boy things to be taken seriously? Who are you to tell a woman what to do? Maybe some women NEED to get their hair and nails done twice a month to feel powerful! Maybe a lot of women WANT to be stay-at-home moms!
What I don’t think you understand is that women have an inherent feminine spirituality which guides them towards maternal and nurturing paths. Women need to honour their divine female aura to keep their. Their fuckin. Their chakras together or some shit. You should put quartz up your hooha and huff wheatgrass. Leaving manual labour and science and technology to men is natural and good for you spiritually
Uh she can’t do that, that’s a blue job, she’s a pink job girly. Food? Yeah, she’s having #girl dinner, which is a handful of almonds. Time for our 15 step skincare routine, which is empowering. Hashtag #girlboss. Ew no, touching dirt? She’s just a girl. You can’t expect a girl to do that. Haha #girl logic

I made a bat comic and now you have to look at it
Edit: Apparently it's "not bad" so I changed the phrasing. Um hello thousands of people. You, uh, you really don't need to follow me over this one, uhh, it's not representative of my normal posting habits.
Edit 2: Ok that's enough, my poor inbox is dying. You can have the post back when people stop randomly following me. Maybe.
Edit 3: Notes seem to have died down and random new followers are back to like 3 per day, so reblogs are back on. Behave.

Look.
This is a super easy litmus test.
If you are ever talking about someone in the context of human health and nutrition and they make a recommendation for fluoride-free toothpaste, you can dismiss their perspective on all other subjects relating to human health and nutrition.
If someone wants to improve human health but they're willing to profit off of fluoride-free toothpaste, they're either totally unaware of what they're talking about and are therefore not worth listening to, or they're a scammer and are therefore not worth listening to.
Lead Safe Mama sells a bunch of bullshit through Amazon affiliate links, but the easiest one to see right away as the sign of someone who cares more about their money than your health is fluoride-free toothpaste.
"Lead Safe Mama Says" is not a good reason to do anything except ignore whatever instructions follow.
There is definitely reason to be concerned about the lead concentrations in cassava flour, there are a few products that, if consumed daily, would put you at risk of having higher lead levels than recommended by the FDA.
But Lead Safe Mama doesn't bother with the FDA, the difference between the presence of lead and exposure risk, or the way that lead is actually tracked by people who are looking to prevent heavy metal poisoning.
Lead Safe Mama says "there is no safe level of lead according to the WHO." What the WHO means when they say that is is that there is no known safe level of lead in your bloodstream. What LFM means when she says that is "all lead is scary and coming to turn your children into autism zombies."
Lead Safe Mama was also the one who raised a huge stink about lead in Stanley cups and other thermoses a couple of years ago. There is lead in some of those products - it's present in the solder used to seal things and isn't bioavailable. Lead Safe Mama was also the one who was scaremongering about vintage plates. She tests for lead in paint using dubious techniques then over-states the risk of exposure and possible outcomes from exposure. There was a whole tumblr shitpost that went viral about it.
So this post (descriptions in alt):
Tumblr media
Is entirely based on reporting by a lady who believes that childhood lead exposure is being misdiagnosed as autism, and claims that explains the current high rate of autism diagnosis. A lady WHO RECOMMENDS NATURAL CHELATION for autistic children when they are too frail for CHEMICAL FUCKING CHELATION.
There's a similar post by the same blogger circulating about this Consumer Report's survey of lead in cassava flour that says that Bob's Red Mill is showing lead levels that is 2343% higher than the Consumer Reports recommended .5 micrograms per adult per day (that .5 microgram number is itself modeled on California Prop 65 standards).
So that's got to be a ton, right, like a crazy amount of lead, right?
Tumblr media
Nope. It's 11.715 micrograms.
That is below the 12.5 microgram per day reference value set by the FDA for people who are pregnant or could become pregnant, but definitely higher than the 3microgram per day value set for children. Probably your child should not consume a cup of cassava flour from Bob's Red Mill per day.
One point I'm making here is that actually Bob's Red Mill and Pamela's are actually probably fine with their CA65 warning labels - there's not an absurd risk of high blood lead levels from eating their cassava products.
The other point I'm making here is get this fucking autism mom and her bullshit bad science and her child chelation recommendations and her fluoride free toothpaste off my dash.
