Trained chemist who used to teach physics and chemistry, but now just teaches chemistry (for now) at a local university. Originally from New England, went to college in Upstate NY, realized the error of my ways and came back to New England for grad school. Just left Boston after being back for 4 years. Now a stranger in a strange land (the Midwest's capital).

If you see something, leak something
Several news sites have set up ways for whistleblowers to contact them securely. Some have very good instructions and guidance on which method you might want to use. Spread it around.
How to leak information to the New York Times
How to leak information to the Washington Post
How to leak information to ProPublica
How to leak information to the Intercept

Nothing says “Let’s go back to a manufacturing economy based on coal” like not allowing federal agencies to award grants for basic science.

Good morning everyone. Yesterday I made a cute little comic about feeling relieved that this nasty election cycle is over. However, given the result, I decided to scrap it and repost this comic instead.
In summer 2015, my little brother came out to me. A few weeks later, the United States legalized gay marriage. It was an amazing feeling. I was so proud that my country was becoming a more equal and safe place for my loved ones.
Obviously, the tide has changed. Because of the light hearted nature of my comic, I’ve often tried to tip-toe around politics. But today I feel free to state that I’m devastated by our decision to elect Donald Trump. There are so many issues I care deeply about—LGBTQ rights, women’s rights, racial equality, climate change, healthcare—that are now in jeopardy.
With my reposting of this comic, I’d at least like to share my love and support towards the LGBTQ community. You are strong, enduring, wonderful, and you deserve better. Furthermore, I want America to be a place where people of all genders, sexualities, races, religions, and backgrounds can feel embraced and welcome.
We have some tough years ahead of us. But let’s at least work on spreading love and acceptance in our own hearts. My brother, parents (both of whom are immigrants), and friends should be able to feel like their community is a safe and supportive one.
Don’t bother with your #draintheswamp comments. You elected a dangerous, unqualified bigot. I’ve been seeing your poison everywhere for the last few months and I’m not letting it happen on my page today. For today I’m not afraid to block people.
Stay safe everyone, I love you.

Wow.
As someone in an interracial relationship, I am scared for my boyfriend (who is Mexican) and his next four years (hopefully no more) in America.
As a non-visible minority, I am scared for my next four (hopefully no more) years in America.
As a white, cis-gendered male, I know I have the privilege of evading some of the fallout by just keeping my mouth shut.  I also know that I have the privilege of having my voice be louder than others.
The main emotions I’m feeling are disbelief, sadness, anxiety, and anger.  I don’t want to move to Canada.  I already live in a deep blue city in this country.  I want to stay and fight and not let the Trumpists get away with this.  Trump is just the figurehead for all of the people in our country who are frightened of progress and globalization.  His rise to power gives them carte blanche to increase the overt racism, sexism, homophobia that has been rampant in america (a) forever but (b) crazy over the Obama terms.  Fight so we don't lose all of the rights we got over the last 8 years.  All of the progress, be it safety, the bettering of the economy, or the safety of the world.
Liberals are always the ones who have to be the bigger people and compromise and acquiesce.  No more, especially against something like Trumpism and the last 8 years of the legislative branch.  George W was bad enough.  We acquiesced and lost some freedoms, gave into fear, especially fear of the other.  Obama carried us out of it as best he could.  But Bush wasn't dangerous, per se.  I didn't agree with him on really anything.  I thought he was a puppet of the neocons.  The Iraq war destabilized the region more so than eons of infighting already had.  All of those led to the increase of fundamental religious terrorism in the world.  But America itself, what we believe in, our structures, our way of life, were not in danger.  It is now.  All of those things are in danger.
We will be the bigger people and not give into fear.  We can’t because we love this country although 50% of its citizens think otherwise of us.  We can’t, and we won’t.

When Donald Trump repeals Obamacare, people are going to die. When Donald Trump defunds Planned Parenthood, people are going to die. When Donald Trump refuses to pass gun control laws, people are going to die. When Donald Trump implements crazy border control policies, people are going to die.
If you didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton because she’s “still bad,” fuck you. There are no other words to say: FUCK. YOU.
