the made brave talk-
in the talk there was interesting things that was said as Andrew Dobbie was a self employed photographer that was once in a spot in college trying to figure out what he wants to do. But he did say that he is now more focused on the business side of the company. Mr Dobbie was telling us a lot about how he began and how far it has come. in his company he has employed one person but then as his company started to grow even more he has many employees working for his successful business. within this talk you can tell that he is very humble and is determined for success.

This is an image that I have used to do a Kodalith 35mm, the way it came out was very successful as in Kodalith the black are very dominant and well shown but it still shows detail slightly. modality also shows the contrast between 2 colours which are black & white. There is some tones of grey but they are not clearly shown. this whole process was done in photoshop as it was a fairly challenging task.

I plan to look around Glasgow and see what architecture that I find fascinating and unique. in Glasgow there is a lot of different types of buildings as there is older architecture and modern ones. I will always look around as I know for a fact that there is loads more than that I have mentioned below.
There is many building that I already know in mind for shapes such as;

the image on the left- in this image there is a building that is seen in the background and there is two piles of sand on either side of the image which makes it clear that the photographer wants the viewer to look at the building as it is the main subject. usually for this image it would be taken landscape so you can get more of the environment shown, the photographer has made it so the it is horizontal so that the subject is the main focus as he is wanting to show the building has its own colours compare to the buildings in the background as they look modern and really tall buildings. the composition is really fascinating because the two piles has formed a 'v' shape to either side of the image so that makes it clear that the photographer wants the viewer to look at the building. this image is definitely taken in natural lighting as it is clearly shown that it was in daylight that this photo was taken. it also looks like it was hand held, this is because it isn't properly straight. if this image was taken in black and white this would tell a completely different story to the image. the coloured image has shown all the natural things that we have on this planet such as the dull sky, the colour of the sand. the colour of the building is a nice to lo0ok at as it isn't too loud or too dull, its a nice feel. the texture of the sand looks very rough and the texture of the building looks smooth which gives an ironic feel to the image as there is loads of different texture and tones. also it gives a feel that the building isolated as there isn't a single person around in the image its like its in a completely dead area no one visits. This makes the viewer want to go over there and see what's around as its shown a little part of the area this was taken in. This an image is a successful shot as the viewer will want to go visit this building and see what's around. The photographer done a good job in terms of the surroundings, the environment, which encourage people to travel and see different things in this world.

In class we learned how to do put layers on top of each other in photoshop to create something different and unique, within this task I have learned a new skill that I would love to continue in my career of photography. to get those images I used some photos from the internet. I searched up textures and ten had a look through to see what caught my eye and the one that caught my eye had a lot of different shapes and colours. I choose that one and it turned out a lot better than I thought. I didn't use any borders because I felt as if there wasn't any to fit in within this theme.

Emulate & create
Today in class we have researched what we have picked out out of ‘hat’. The one I got is the Gum bichromate prints.I researched for what I can to get as much information about this kind of process to develop a photo out of. While I was researching I was looking around to see what it is and how the process works. I have learned a lot through this research task in class today and excited to do more research for next week.

within this task, I was the editor. I gave the photographers some time to get some images for the task. The editing side was interesting as I was working with another person for editing and trying to put it all together was interesting. Within this task the photographers were given images with lines and patterns on it. They got sent out to try and find those lines and patterns around the campus. they did a really good job. Then we imported the images into the Mac and loaded up Lightroom. for putting the images together wasn't done so well but thats something to work on for the next time.

Photo safari.
In our photo safari task, me and Diana were the photographers and Andrew and Fraser did they edits.
I captured my image using a Nikon D3300 using a standard kit lens. We found most of the patterns in and around the college and using proper angles it was easy to make similar patterns in my photos. We then selected our best images and imported these images to a USB and delivered it to our editors to touch up and put into a collage. I believe they used light room to optimise our photos and then put them (very poorly) into a collage on word. We then printed this collage and stuck it to the wall.

optimising continued 4
The image with the The Great Wall of China- In this image I have re adjusted most all the setting for editing to make this image look a lot better. I wanted to show the colour of the sky because the camera doesn't pick it up when this image was shot. the sky looked dull. whereas in the editing I made the sky have a colour. I ensured that the wall itself and the trees still had its purpose which was to show a bit of colour within the image.
The image with the crowd- In this image I wanted to try and not make it I was using the camera flash, I put the exposure as far down as I could so that there is one section of the image is purely bright, I wanted to make the building lights stand out more which it does a little. I tried to ensure that you can see the people in the image as well as the building because there is a lot going on in this image.

Optimising task continued 3
The image with the mountains- I just made it darker slightly and tried to get all the detail in, I mostly done a lot re adjustment with this image. the first image is too exposed so I got edited to that I can see the detail with the mountain especially the colours of green and darker green I want to get the colours to stand out more than they should.
The image with the statue- I made the colours to brightening u[ so that the statue can look like it completely blacked out, but the stone is still seen a little so you ca see the detail the stone. within this editing side I mainly done small touches to the image but the clarity is really high up as I wanted show the detail of everything that is around within the image.

optimising task continued 2
The image with the sun set- this image I cropped it to make it as if the sun is more up the top of the image, I edited to make it darker and make the sun a bit brighter so that the sun stands out more than It should. Within the optimising task I focused on shadows and colouring.
the one with a mountains- this image was mainly focused on exposure because the first image I felt as if it was too plain and simple, I decided to sort the colouring in terms of the surrounding especially the sky, I felt as if there wasn't anything good to see. dos I decided to make the image darker and add more colour to it and it looks way much better. the ensured that there was detail still there so I put the clarity to full so you can see the whole idea of the detail I was trying to imply within the image. there image itself I like the mood it has created.

Optimising task continued
The image with the colourful architecture. within this image I ensured that I get the colours of the art to stand out but I didn't want to make it too exposed as the image is a little bit over exposed. this image was a little bit of a challenge but I like a wee challenge in my work/ images. within the editing of this image I mainly focused on the clarity, exposure, vibrance and saturation, they have helped to make the image to be what I wanted it to be and it was really successful.
The image with the black building. I really enjoyed editing this because it was something really different. in this image I mainly focused on the colour black, I tried to get the exposure lower than usual. for that what I done was put he shadow down and black down as well, which will help the image to stand out better. I put the clarity down a little because you can see too much detail in my opinion, I wanted the building to be less detailed and more colour.

Those are the images I have for the optimising task, those are the final work.
The one with the CCTV- Within this I have re-adjusted the exposure, highlights, shadows etc. I have made the image less exposed but the image looks really good and clear. it makes it obvious to me that the exposure is important within every image because it can make the image so much better. within this optimising task I tried to use every setting I can to get the perfect image I had in mind.
The image with the red gel- within this image I used different settings, I tried to brush out the wee marks that was created within this image ensured that it is a smooth background with no marks in it. This task for optimising has improved me for editing images for my future work and I have learned how to brush ‘the bad marks’ out of the image. This tactic has made the image so much better than it was. within the image I have re-adjusted certain things such as exposure, shadows highlights and clarity.

Comparison between Lightroom & Bridge.
in my personal opinion I like bridge better because I think it so much easier to understand and more options to edit. I like how the way it is laid out in bridge everything is self explanatory in terms of little images of what I need within my editing. Lightroom in my personal opinion is a little complicated in terms of the editing process.  There is too much going on the screen in terms of the tabs which don't really make sense to me. Whereas bridge is so much more simple and easier to understand.
