it’s more likely for a schizophrenic to fall victim to violent crimes than commit one. we aren’t dangerous, nor are we inherently violent because of our disorder. there is no known strong correlation between schizophrenia and aggression.

Stop saying…

“Psychotic/Schizophrenic” when you mean: unpredictable, unhinged, unreal, etc.

“Bipolar” when you mean: polarized, scattered, fickle, unstable, etc.

“Delusional” when you mean: unrealistic, unreasonable, close-minded, stubborn, etc.

“[insert “R” slur in relation to intellectual disabilities]” when you mean: unreasonable, unintelligent/ridiculous, immature, etc.

“OCD” when you mean: particular, neat, overbearing, etc.

“Narcissistic” when you mean selfish, abusive, manipulative, etc.

Note: I’m NOT saying that these are synonymous. This is also not an exhaustive list.

'Cause people tend to not get the memo: People acting strangely in public is not a danger to you. Pacing, talking to themselves or something you can't see, laughing to themselves, stimming, twitching, ticcing, making "weird" noises--it doesn't fucking matter. They're not your personal freak show, they're not broken, they're not a murderer and they're definitely not going to be fucking helped by you calling the authorities or anyone else on em. These actions alone are not indicative of danger to you, as a random person on the street. Shut the fuck up and move on, leave disabled people alone.

rly wish people would stop with this "do you want this big beefy trans man in the women's bathroom??" as some kind of gotcha to transphobes.

a) trans men and trans mascs get harassed in women's bathrooms - i have seen it irl.

b) more trans men and trans mascs will be using women's bathrooms as states enact bathroom bills. in those states they'll have to choose between violating the law or potentially being harassed. so reinforcing "they don't belong there" isn't helpful

c) it reinforces a ton of other harmful things too, like the idea that gender = how you look (how does that play out for a trans woman who doesn't pass or looks "too masc?") and the whole "men in women's bathrooms scary" which then impacts trans women because that's the excuse terfs use, and then of course wrapping back around to point a, telling cis people to fear transmascs in bathrooms is also not good.

if conservatives believe gender is stored in the chromosomes and nothing else matters (not genitals, not secondary sex characteristics, not clothing, not anything), then why do they insist on gender conformity? why does it matter?

if they look at a trans woman and go "the hrt and surgery and everything don't matter, he'll always be a man cause he's got xy chromosomes"

then why do they believe that in order to Be A Man you need to wear masculine clothes and get muscular and drive a Big Giant Truck and work outside the home and not be gay and pay for dates and neglect housework and not paint your nails and drink beer and watch the game and punch other dudes and not let your boy child paint a butterfly on his cheek

i thought all you needed was xy chromosomes? none of that other shit should matter right? 🤔
