Look, I'm gonna get on my soapbox a bit here. Watch that video and watch how they hang onto one another. They are good friends and are each other's touchstones. Looking back to promo for Season 1, you could tell that Norman was nervous without her being there. He took a lot of crap from people (a lot of whom were supposed to be his fans) over the spinoff changing and all the while he knew what was to come and he could not say anything. I think a lot of it was done to GIVE MELISSA A BREAK. Melissa looks radiant tonight and I am glad that she got the break she deserved. I am so happy for both of them now, that they were able to do things the way they wanted to do it and from the sound of things, for at least 3 seasons and hopefully more. SPINOFFS FOREVER! CARYL ON EVERYBODY!

A lot of people thought Carol sounded sad or upset about something when she talked to Daryl on the radio. She said something like, "it just takes getting used to." What if Richonne have returned (a likely scenario based on TOWL finale) and the kids are with their parents as they should be. Carol is alone. Ezekiel and Carol had resolved to stay friends after they split up, but maybe Ezekiel has moved into another relationship. Carol tends to get in her head a lot. Melissa mentioned in a BTS clip that Carol is holding something back. Then we hear in the teaser..."He's the only family I have left." I am just spitballing here but I think that Carol has finally come to the realization that Daryl means much more to her than she ever realized. Maybe Rick or Michonne give her just the nudge she needs to go find her soulmate.

As far as who said, "Tell me a story" I am at an impasse. I am leaning that it's Carol, but I am not sure. I agree with the idea that it definitely could be Daryl calming her if they are in the tunnel and she is dealing with claustrophobia.

At any rate, I am very excited with the teasers we got and I am looking forward to learning more in the coming months. It's nice to see the Caryl tag come alive with lots of positivity.

Discussing the new TBOC teaser and sneak peek

This was going to be more eloquent but 4.5 hours of sleep, only 1 cup of coffee, and tumblr eating my other 30 min creation of meta has left me with a scotch taped remnant. I apologize for the word vomit but I had too many thoughts about the promos, and after lengthy-late-into-the-night discussions with like-minded people (SHOCKER, yes other positive shippers) I needed to get them out.

Thank you to the wonderful people of the OG discord server (CR) for the discussion and glee last night, and all the time. Special thanks to @zehiiro for talking me off the ledge after Tumblr was a meta-cookie monster.

Teaser trailer

The entire voiceovers time were just Daryl and Carol. “Tell me a story” is Carol’s voice, albeit a little hushed and drowned in emotion but it’s her even if the screen wasn’t. TWD is famous for their misdirects in trailers w/ voiceovers from conversations not shown on screen. (Plus there is the film tracking of Caryl in a tunnel + the script notes about her claustrophobia … that’s all I’m gonna say).

“Daryl Dixon. He’s the only family I have left” This is super interesting to me on multiple fronts because 1) the many possibilities of when this is taking place timeline wise in TWDU since we have the ending of TOWL. Is this before or after? 2) either way whenever it is in the timeline, Carol sounds lonely and disconnected from the rest of those at home while/because she’s missing Daryl which is evident in her tone and word choice. Caryl are family…R!chonne are family. IMO the word doesn’t negate anything.

Carol’s fingers slowly grazing the map of Europe/France is just 😘. A subtle way without any words needed to show her longing for Daryl after finding out where he probably was taken without needing words.

Later we see her by the beached boat and on a rolling mountainside with Ash and 2 other newbies (most likely locals as the plane can only carry 2) and from tracking it appears they land closer to the Italy/France Alps border — I suspect for larger landing space for the plane. (Who knows if the newbs will last long or if the universe jinx will get them)

ALL THE BONUS POINTS FOR GIVING US CAROL ON HIS BIKE ANS WITH HIS CROSSBOW

I do wonder if Daryl’s line “where were you going?” is directed at Carol when we might get a final lengthy, overdue discussion of things between the 2 and find out what Mel meant by Carol holding something back?

Daryl’s whole aura and energy in this reminds me of how he was in “Find Me”. Uneasy, jumpy, unable to do the normally easy things for him bc he’s been apart from Carol for so long. Couple that with the story lines from Daryl in the other promo and imo it’s clear he’s still stuck in the same place he was in s1; trying to get home but constantly stopped by circumstance and/or people and it’s causing him mental unrest.

Not to mention now he apparently had to save Fallou, Emile, and some other guy in the back of Genet’s truck. (Looks like they could have used better bomb planning from someone like Nat😄)

After leaving Mick occupied in the trunk, Carol rides triumphantly into the gas station with quick glimpses of her innocent Nancy from Montclair mask. You just know someone in that group of guys is getting a bolt in some limb, and I can’t wait.

Expanding on the whole Carol in the gas station runs super close to a head cannon I have about how Carol finds out where Daryl went/how she meets Ash/how they pair up so I’m gonna leave it for now, but it makes me super happy if that’s the direction they appear to be going.

Excellent theories from @zehiiro

I over analysed the new TBOC Teaser and Sneak Peek

There's so much to cover here, and I'm so happy right now because of all the content we've gotten today! I'm going to focus the analysis on the new things we see in the teaser and trailer since many of the things shown today have already been discussed on here many times.

So please grab yourself a cup of tea or your morning coffee and bear with me through this post. It might be a little long, but I'd love to hear your takes on my timeline theory at the end. ♡

The Teaser

I'm starting with the teaser because that's what I got to see first.

Firstly, we see in the below photo that Daryl has finally gotten himself some arrows, which means we're finally going to see him with a bow (excluding that one time he used a crossbow in twd:dd 01x02). These definitely don't look like crossbow bolts, which implies that this shot is pre-reunion.

I also want to break down the dialog here:

Isabell: Tell me a story Daryl: There was this guy, he left home looking for something, and he couldn't get back.

I'm focusing on the part where he said "he couldn't get back" because he didn't say "he didn't go back" or "he didn't want to go back"; he said he couldn't; he's not there by choice.

Secondly, we have this shot of Carol and her crew on a mountaintop. What stands out here is that it's not just her (on the right) and Ash (on the left); there are two other people there with them (middle).

Making notes of who these people are, here's a breakdown of what we can see about them.

There are two people.

First one: seems shorter with longer brown/black hair and wearing a beige coat.

Second one: seems taller, shorter auburn hair and wearing a black coat with a faux fur collar.

Unlike Carol and Ash, neither of them is visibly holding a weapon.

Also unlike Carol and Ash, they both seem to have bags/supplies.

They must trust each other at this moment because Carol and Ash don't seem to have their weapons drawn or their guards up.

The last three points make me think that the two in the middle might be locals from wherever they've landed in France and are helping them find their way. Additionally, to the local's guess, there's no way that the plane (image/model below) C/A flew in could have fit more than 2 people.

Next, we see Carol (looking amazing as always) holding/shooting the crossbow, killing the walker we see below.

What's interesting here is that this walker is covered in moss and what looks like fungus growing out of it, which would happen to walkers who have been around water and/or in humid environments. The walker is also wearing winter clothing, which aligns with the snowy mountains in the background.

The only other place I remember seeing a walker like this, in France, was on the way to Normandy Beach, where Daryl looked over at the walker that had similar moss on it with trees growing through it; however, if I had to guess I'd say that's not relevant to the location of this new scene.

If the filming location accurately reflects the actual location of Carol/Crew, based on the surroundings and lake in the above shots, my best guess is that they are near the French Alps, somewhere around the area highlighted in red, OR the Spanish Alps highlighted in blue, since the rest of France is relatively flat and does not feature any large mountain scapes like we see in the photos.

It is also possible that these photos of Carol and Ash in the mountains are pre-France, set in the US while they were planning their departure via plane, with the only reason being that I don't think I've seen any photos of Carol or Daryl with the crossbow in France (that we know for sure were set in France). However, I'm still leaning towards it being in France because I don't see why Carol couldn't have taken the crossbow with her if they managed to take the rifle along.

Carol is later seen in a clip at Chantier Naval de la Passagère (purple mark on map), placing her right next to Daryl/Crew at Mont Saint-Michel (green mark on map).

The Sneak Peek

The first thing to note with the sneak peek is that it looks like these images from the first teaser (below)...

are not at the same location as Daryl/Crew fighting in the sneak peak (below).

Another thing to note that's different is the people present with Daryl during each fight, which brings me to the next thing I've noticed.

When the back of the truck is opened in the sneak peek, we see three people sitting in the back. After playing with the image a little bit, it becomes a little easier to guess who we're looking at.

To me, it appears that it's Fallou and Emile on the right, and the guy on the left resembles the man highlighted in the image below (from the first teaser).

All of this leads me to believe that somehow/somewhere, Fallou, Emile, and the ??? Man are taken by Genet and her people. This would explain Daryl's desperation during the sneak peek fight to stop Genet/Crew and get to whatever/whoever is in the back of the truck.

However, it gets a little complicated with how the timeline of these two fights relates to the below scene with Carol/Fallou/Codron.

I have two theories about how the timeline can go, but for now I'm just going to break down the one I think is the most feasible.

Firstly, we know that Fallou and Emile leave Daryl/Crew in 01x06, potentially heading back to Paris. On their way, they run into Codron, who's been badly hurt/tortured by Genet, along with Carol, who has tracked Daryl to Paris at this point.

From here, after resting, resupplying, and with the new information that Codron and Fallou gave her about Daryl's whereabouts and what he's been going through to try and get back to her, Carol leaves the Paris group and heads out to resume her search for him.

Sometime after Carol leaves Paris, the Paris group/base could have been attached, leading to Fallou, Emille, and ??? Man being captured.

This leads us to the fight we see in the sneak peek between Daryl/Crew and Genet/Crew, which results in Fallou/Emile/??? Man being rescued and joining up with Daryl and the Nest Crew again.

Here's where I think it gets interesting: Now that Fallout is back with Daryl, he tells him everything he knows about Carol, how they ran into her, how she's been looking for him, and how, right before the attack on that Paris base, she left to resume her search for him.

This would light a fire under Daryl, realising how much danger she could be in because the areas between Paris and Mont Saint-Michel are swarming with Genet's men, and Carol could very likely be unknowingly walking into an ambush that wasn't meant for her.

Knowing that Carol is somewhere between Paris and Mont Saint-Michel, Daryl can now easily track her to Maison Mere, where she happens to be trapped in a car with Ash, surrounded by walkers (image below).

This leads us to the scene from the first teaser, where we see Daryl, Fallou, Isabell,??? Man, and a few others from the Nest, are searching through what we've said appears to be Maison Mere.

In the first teaser, We see the walkers surrounding Carol's car get killed by something/someone that's not visible to us, other than the lone hand we see on the back of the windshield, which we have all agreed strongly resembles Daryl's (image below).

Leading us to our long-awaited life-changing reunion!!

Gaslighting in the fandom

I have some very hot takes here that may piss off a lot of you, but I can't not say anything anymore.

I have been quiet for a long time about a certain member of the Caryl fandom. This person blocked me a long time ago when I dared to disagree with her and the collective because I felt like we did not know the whole story of what went down when TWD ended and the spinoff changed. But I have kept tabs on her misguided rantings though. I have long had a theory about this particular member of fandom. I believe this person had good intentions to begin with, but now it almost appears as an ego trip to prove that her theories were correct when almost all her theories have blown up in her face. (AI Melissa anyone?). I also question whether someone who spends as much time on Tumblr writing bad theories and answering an incredible amount of asks has true ties to the entertainment industry. I know there are others who feel the same way and if you choose to block me or ignore me I understand. I will rejoice when Caryl goes canon by myself if need be.

A direct quote from her most recent post. I do agree that AMC marketing has gaslit fans at times and yes there have been instances when women have not gotten a fair shake. But I heartily disagree that they "punish" talented women. If you think that then you really have not been paying attention to the marketing for The Ones Who Live. Danai has been front and center in interviews and seems to have had full creative control over directions of the story for Rick and Michonne. Same with Lauren C when Dead City promo was going on. I truly hope we hear from Melissa soon, but I also know that Melissa has never been a fan of having to do press, most likely because she doesn't like all the attention. I hope that with the upcoming months we see more of her interacting in the public, but I would not be surprised if we did not.

Another quote: "That's not a show I can support. I admire Carol and Melissa because they rise above everyone who puts them down. I love Caryl because they represent the light at the end of the tunnel. Gimple, Nicotero, and Zabel are 100% NOT on our side and never will be, but I need AMC and Norman to show me that they are."

Honestly...I can't disagree about Gimple. I have been totally glad he has been far away from Daryl Dixon being distracted by his being showrunner on TOWL. But Nicotero and Melissa McBride are incredibly close and always have been. The rumors were rampant about tension on the set the last day of filming TWD and then a few months later, we got these pics from BTS.

Along with Norman laying his head in Melissa's lap. All seemed very much at ease.

I know Zabel has not always chosen his words carefully but it also seems that he is very excited to be working with Melissa as well as Norman. As far as being shipbaity with other female characters....well he talks in typical showrunner speak about that. Let us not forget the whole 10C debacle with Leah being introduced in a 20 minute flashback scene. And that was EVERY BIT on Kang, so spare me the righteous indignation that a female showrunner knows best, because obviously Kang did not. Norman and Melissa both hated that storyline...it was not fun as Kang always likes to say it was. I am glad she is gone from the spinoff.

Well, I think I have said enough now to get the rest of the fandom pissed off at me, so I guess I will sign off for now. Believe what you want, but don't fall victim to someone who is trying to reclaim a self-perceived power position by claiming an authority she clearly does not have. Enjoy the show or don't. But I will be around to spread positivity as we get new promo and interviews with hopefully both Melissa AND Norman.

Hello There! A little conversation about "experience" and trust.

So it's my understanding there are some concerns about the experience Zabel has as a writer and a showrunner. More below the cut.

I have spoken on this before, but I think some of you may have missed it. Zabel has quite a bit of experience with writing and with showrunning shows.

I honestly believe a fresh eyes approach has been what TWDU has been needing for a long time.

Some of you may not be old enough to remember ER, but I sure do. One of the best ships ever was Abby and Luka on ER which was primarily under Zabel's watch. Spoiler alert....Abby and Luka ride off into the sunset together (happily) after Abby's last episode.

I don't know what TBOC will bring. I haven't seen scripts or portions of scripts. But one thing I know is that Melissa AND Norman have both expressed excitement about Season 2 and I too am very excited.

I guess what I am saying to you all once again. Don't let anyone steal your joy based on their attempts to try to maintain their perceived "power" in the fandom (which admittedly seems to be dwindling with every outlandish post... "AI Carol/Melissa"...I still cackle about that one!) You know it was funny that a week after that claim was made, Melissa appeared BESIDE Norman with both of them smiling and laughing about being back together. Melissa also appeared by video link during NYCC to talk about her excitement for filming Season 2.

Bottom line...I trust Norman Reedus. I trust Melissa McBride. I trust David Zabel.

I confirmed this on AMC plus this morning. The teaser from the fall for TBOC was updated to say that it will premiere in Summer 2024!

Do you think AMC is being biased? I feel like they care more about Rick and Michonne show with the way they’re promoting them.

I can see why people would feel that way. But no, I do not think they are being biased, for several reasons.

At the end of the day, TWD started out, based on the comic, as a story about a man searching for his family. That man is Rick Grimes for better or worse. Other characters such as Michonne or Daryl or Carol have stepped to the fore front to be fan favorites as well.

I truly get why they are promoting The Ones Who Live in the way they are. Most studios...do not overlap promotion of other series or movies while in the midst of a big marketing campaign. TPTB never marketed Fear at the same time as TWD other than when Morgan's crossover to Fear occurred. AMC Plus has been doing marketing for the TWD Universe (featuring Carol in her clip from 106 of DD) with all shows in TWDU.

This is purely based on MY speculation alone, but I feel that Melissa probably worked an iron clad contract to suit her interests of what promotion she would and would not do. I feel when TBOC promotion ramps up, we will see A LOT of Melissa along with Norman.

I mentioned the other day that even though there was an agreement with SAG...they basically respected the strikes for Season 1 of DD. There was not nearly the promotion that Dead City got and obviously not nearly as much as TOWL is getting now. I feel that the promotion for TBOC will be VERY different this year. I think that SDCC and the months after will be glorious times for those of us who have been waiting to see Melissa and Norman doing joint interviews or even Melissa doing solo interviews and press.

At the end of the day, AMC cares about profit. And if they realize the gold mine they have at their disposal...they will take advantage of that to the best of their ability. They have proven they are doing that with Rick and Michonne and I believe they will do the same with Carol and Daryl.

So, I told you I would be back. And again, I am sorta back.

I like many of you will be glad to see Rick and Michonne back and reunited, but I also know that some of you, myself included, may be feeling a certain way because of the extremely hyped marketing for T O W L. I have been very distracted because of real life issues. But I totally get the frustration some of you may be feeling.

I am very proud of the Caryl family for being pretty positive on the timelines by making positive Carol, Daryl and Caryl posts. I know the marketing is a LOT right now, but I really do get the excitement about Rick and Michonne reuniting.

I guess I am saying all of this to say, have faith and be patient my dears. Our day will come. I don't know this to be true, but I feel that we will get another teaser at the end of T O W L. Or at bare minimum hopefully a release date. I do feel it will be the fall most likely and you know what, I am really okay with that. It will allow some breathing room between both shows and give each couple the opportunity to shine. Daryl and Carol will have tons of promo and will probably have a SDCC panel which will be AWESOME. (FYI, none of this is official, just my own speculation) I am really looking forward to interviews and media coverage with Norman and Melissa. I do think they will promote the hell out of TBOC as they were unable to promote Season 1 due to the strikes, even though they had an agreement. So I am really looking forward to that.

Meanwhile, I plan to quietly enjoy seeing Rick and Michonne back on my screen as my sister would have loved to watch it. I will miss our post mortem conversations after each episode, but I know I will have fun discussing with all of you.

I'm sorta back

I guess I spoke too soon. The day after my last post, my dad got sick. He passed away on Wednesday, 2 weeks to the day after my sister passed. He was 92 and he was ready to be reunited with all our family who preceded him, so I can't be selfish, but this was admittedly a kick in the guts. I love y'all. and I'll be lurking. I shall return! Thanks for all the support!

I'm back!

Sorry for the conversational hiatus. I had some family issues over the holidays. A lot of you know that my sister developed a severe respiratory illness (not COVID) and passed away a couple of weeks ago. I just want to thank those of you who have reached out with your kind words and your thoughts and prayers. You know my sister is the person who got me into TWD. She told me how much I would love RIck, Daryl and especially a lady named Carol. It makes me sad that she won't get to complete that journey with us, but even after her passing I feel she is sending me little signals. She had an old jewelry box that belonged to our mother with some old family jewelry in it that belonged to our parents. Including a vintage costume jewelry choker necklace that I do not recall seeing. I think it belonged to our mother. Needless to say when I saw the piece, I bawled my eyes out with bittersweet tears.

"it's a double capper, it will bring you luck" I was definitely smiling through my tears.

There not being a lot of news for TBOC right now is understandable with the heavy promotion going on for TOWL. I know some of you are frustrated that Melissa (for now) is not being heavily promoted. I think a lot of us tend to forget that Melissa most likely is just fine with not having the spotlight on her as being in the limelight has never historically been her favorite thing to do. I really do suspect this will change. I think we will see promo ramp up at the latest by SDCC. I feel there will be a TBOC presence there and I look forward to all the McReedus interviews and Caryl promotion that are hearts desire.

So have patience my dears, I know it's not easy right now, but we will get there.

"____ Came Back" --Part 2 for my longwinded ass! LOL

Okay...Now...this brings me to the "Sanctuary" episode in the final episodes of Season 8 of Fear

Remember way back in Season 6 when Daryl met Dwight and insulin was a big part of that storyline?

Well after Dwight left Sherry in Georgia, he returned to Virginia to the home they shared and found a man living there who was diabetic and needed insulin. Dwight went back to the Sanctuary as the bad guys camped out there (not Saviors, just random bad guys) apparently had medical supplies. Dwight gets the insulin and returns to his house but the guy has already died and turned.

The Sanctuary pretty much gets destroyed, but Dwight and Sherry battled their demons there and won.

So after the final battle and in the finale....our survivors go their separate ways. Dwight and Sherry take the remaining Padre kids (good kids, not the little evil ones....again lame season) back to Virginia to rebuild the Sanctuary.

So, my word vomit has a point....

I feel that with Carol's role as sort of filling Lance's position that she will become aware of Dwight reestablishing the Sanctuary as a community. I could see Dwight encouraging Carol to go find Daryl, just like Daryl gave him the chance to find Sherry all those years ago.

Mock me if you must, but this is my newest speculation.

"____ Came Back"--Part 1

So, I have a working theory about what Carol said on the radio to Daryl about "____ came back." This will be a lengthy post as there is a lot of history and context to cover.

My theory is that Dwight is who Carol was referring to. (Or Dwight and Sherry)

So, this entails some knowledge about the last season of Fear TWD and some major flashbacks to different seasons of TWD.

In Season 6, episode 6, "Always Accountable, " Daryl gets stranded in burnt out forest and gets held at gunpoint by Dwight which is where we first meet him, along with his wife Sherry (Honey) and her sister who is diabetic and depends on insulin. Daryl breaks free from them and takes the cooler from them, (not knowing at the time they have the insulin in it for Sherry's sister). Daryl tries to return the insulin to them, but they all get surrounded by the Saviors. Daryl realizes they are in a jam and tries to help them and offers them "sanctuary" in Alexandria, only to be double crossed by Dwight and Sherry at the end.

Now, I am including this next clip, but it's Negan talking about Dwight to Daryl, so if you don't watch I understand...my those were dark times. But, it shows that Daryl is learning why Dwight has done the things he has and also Sherry.

Negan continues to try to break Daryl, but Daryl is unbreakable and he and Dwight agree to disagree (I still say that Daryl would not kneel because of Carol and to protect his family).

So, Dwight switches sides and Daryl almost kills him when Rosita presents him at ASZ. But Daryl ultimately lets him live. Dwight reminds Daryl that Sherry helped him escape the Sanctuary. But Sherry also escaped and left Dwight a goodbye note and now, Dwight wants Negan dead.

So after the war...Daryl doesn't kill Dwight as he vowed to do to avenge Denise and his own torture and imprisonment...he releases Dwight with one instruction, "Find Her"

So, Morgan crossed over to Fear at this point and now we will go into Dwight and Sherry's history on Fear.

Morgan had been on Fear for about a year at this point... This is when Dwight first appears... And yes John and June Dorie were beautiful and i hate that John died the way he did in Season 6.

LIke I said John Dorie was a beautiful character and I love that June and John were the first people Dwight met.

I will point out that later in Season 6 finale, John and June get married and Dwight gives them his and Sherry's rings. Sherry had not yet been found by Dwight.

Now I am including this next clip that has nothing to do with Caryl..but I adore John Dorie and he is such a badass here and I know it's OTT, but I love it. (Pre ZA, John worked for a "wild west" show and did gunfighting/trick shot demonstrations)

Dwight and Morgan reunited.

Dwight really got a chance to redeem himself on Fear and I loved his and Sherry's arc.

This reunion moment was everything. Al and Dwight were scouting for this group that had captured them (too much to go into here). Al was trying to find her soulmate and Dwight was helping her...when he finds Sherry. I loved EVERYTHING about this scene.

So Sherry and Dwight go through some angst related to their Negan /Sanctuary PTSD. I won't share clips cause this thread is hella long already. Suffice it to say they worked through some of it and wound up with Sherry pregnant at the end of Season 7 after they survived a nuclear apocalypse (yeah, Fear got really lame in Season 7 and even in Season 8).

In Season 8 we had another timejump of around 7 years and the Padre villains let a walker bite Dwight and Sherry's son Finch so the villains could have June experiment for a cure to the virus (did I mention how lame it got). Dwight and Sherry had tried to help Morgan save Grace after she got bit and died when Morgan went back to Georgia to put down his walker wife and son. So they were all in Georgia.

Dwight and Sherry separate after Finch dies because they felt like they couldn't stay together.
