anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.

This is an image coming from the Second Intifada, and its a famous image of child fares odeh throwing a rock at an israeli tank. The way israelis redefine the intifada is how they reframe this image. They treat the tank like a backdrop that its something normal in the landscape and the child is the one "breaking the peace." Israeli violence becomes a backdrop. The tank in the village is an act of domination and intimidation towards the unarmed palestinians around it. This show of strength enforces israeli occupation and reminds palestinians that they do not have a right to the land, but to israelis, palestinians must be subjected to this type of violence. Fares odeh was killed in 2000 at only 14 years old for stone throwing

Imagine yourself in this situation...
You’ve just survived death. Running through gunfire and bombs. Escaping by a miracle. You finally reach the US aid zone in Rafah. A city that’s now nothing but ruins, forbidden, lifeless. Every step there could be your last.
After long lines and endless waiting, you receive a small box of food. You and your brother. Finally, something to ease the hunger of a family that hasn’t eaten in a week. On your way back, dreaming of feeding your parents, your siblings, a shell explodes nearby. Your brother is hit. He falls to the ground, screaming, "Help me..."
You look around. No one. No ambulance. No hospital. The closest one is in Khan Younis, 12 km away. And where you are is just silence, dust, and fear. This is what’s happening in Gaza
Please, my family desperately needs your help. Donate to us on GoFundMe or directly via PayPal.
