not a fan of this moral dichotomy some proshippers ive seen online have. like, the two choices are not proship and nazi. antis arent all nazis. some definitely seem well on their way to it. most are just dumb kids who feel the need to make "im uncomfortable with trauma kink porn that i shouldnt be seeing anyway" their personality to fit in, which sucks but they usually grow out of it. and others have been told it's harmful and needs to be recovered from, but theyre polite about it.

i found out about the proship vs anti debate when i was 15. im in my 20s now. today ive seen a 15 year old anti get harrassed by so called antiharrassers and called a nazi for making a anti-chan character or whatever. that kid was in single digits when this stupid internet bullshit first cropped up. just leave them alone ffs. youre not helping anyones case. all im seeing are adults going out of their way to contact children who do not want to be contacted, and thats weird as hell.

if you want to go "dont like, dont look" i think that also applies to you when you see kids on the internet having opinions you disagree with about cartoon ships

Someone saying that they don't want darkshippers interact is fine. Someone saying they don't l0l1/sh0tacons interacting with them is fine. It's the same as you saying 'Antis DNI'. It's a boundary.

The only time it's not okay is they are harrasing and sending threats because of what you depict in fiction.

Yeah, I’ve talked about this before, but I’ve said I’ll do it as many times as I need to. This is an ongoing issue that’s made me (and likely many others) feel unsafe bringing up our experiences while talking about a character.

Fandom will never see fictional sexual assault and rape victims as actual characters and Anya from Mouthwashing is proof of it. Everything you could ever do with her character, regardless of whether or not you try to follow the impossible standards other Anya “fans” have set, will result in someone saying “You can’t do that, she was raped.” Godspeed if you don’t try to follow their standards.

I’ve put fans in quotation marks because I don’t think anyone who defines Anya with her worst moment is a real fan of her. Call me gatekeepy all you want, but if that’s what you do after she said our worst moments don’t define us, you didn’t understand her character even remotely. You’re just pretending you did.

A few takes I don't see enough proshippers consider, because I don't want us living in an echo chamber:

There's zero reason to defend the morality of our taste in fiction, I say this as an avid reader of philosophy and a fellow profic artist. Morality is incredibly subjective and there's no getting around that, you will never convince antis that you are perfectly moral because.. in a lot of Western cultures, we are not moral, make peace with that, it's fine to be "immoral", it has no bearing on your *ethics* as a person. Ethics are evident, if you're not hurting someone or intending to, that's an ethical approach to the conversation. Don't feed into antis delusions about morality, read some philosophy on it if you're further interested in this distinction. :)

My second idea is stop interacting with kids, yes, even if they interact with us first, if they harass us and shit, it sucks I know. I've been personally cyberstalked by ex friends who were antis and my advice on this front is to not feed into the attention they way, a big part of being an anti is attention seeking. It sounds insensitive to say so but there's a reason you see meaningless callout posts from them every week. Message your friend/fellow proshippers privately and tell hem to block them, or encourage the usage of block chains even more.

My last piece of advice is this, if you MUST argue with antis, think more critically about what you are to say. Don't take it lightly if you genuinely want to change someone's mind. Being impolite will get you nowhere and I've experienced this firsthand, another thing important to note is our usage of their hypocrisies. Hypocrisy isn't as easy as saying they like South Park. In fact, one of the worst examples I see being used is "Well you like South park even though it has all these bad things in it" when a little more goes into it that that.

South Park is extremely based on shock humor, it's so far out in its delivery there's no way for anyone to take it seriously, and if you make an argument saying antis are hypocrites for enjoying it you back yourself in a corner and just sound incompetent. This is the biggest example of this I can describe, I hope my delivery makes this understandable.

I would like to see more proship/profic people consider these seriously because it's a bit of a headache seeing my own community fail so many times and make things worse for ourselves. With peace.
