Where are you originally from? I saw that you went to Allen County and I know many people from Iola.
I am not from Iola, I attended ACCC at the Burlingame campus. Did you attend ACCC? Or how old are the people you know from Iola? I also know quite a few people from there.

Guide to loving your body: 1. Get naked and take a good long look at your body. Trace your stretch marks, feel your hip bones poking out, place your hand over your tummy and take a fistful of yourself in. Appreciate your scars and pimples, your uneven, large,or nonexistent breasts. Take pride in your un/shaven, un/cut, fantastically odd private bits. Hold up a mirror to yourself and study your body. Love it. 2. Be Ugly, reclaim words that are used to put you down and shut you up and scream right back at these fascist beauty standard reinforcing scumbags. Give them the finger and tell them to kiss your fat/skinny/somewhere in between ass ‘cause you ain’t got time to waste with their body hating bullshit. and remember, you don’t owe prettiness to anyone. Validate yourself by accepting yourself. 3. Wear clothes that don’t fit, that are too big or too small and show all your “problem areas” that cosmo insists you hide and walk down the street like the fucking fabulous queen you are. Sashay the hate away. 4. Do what YOU want with YOUR body. Shave or don’t, wear makeup or don’t, whatever choice you make is yours to make, and anyone who shames you for your decision can keep it moving. This also means respecting the choices of others, even if they differ from your own. 5. Surround yourself with loving and supportive people. Rid of the toxic bullshit in your life if possible, and immerse yourself in a community that embraces body positivity and diversity.

My First Week of Class
My first week of classes on the KU campus was nerve racking to say the least. I went to orientation less than one week before school started. I woke up early that day so I would have plenty of time to get ready and arrive to class on time. When I left that morning I was so excited, I had butterflies in my stomach. I finished my associates the previous December at Allen County Community College (Go Red Devils!) so I was aware of how college classes are and what is expected but the sheer immensity of the campus can be intimidating. I came to KU to gain knowledge and not to sound cheesy but broaden my horizons. When I arrived on campus I first had to go to the Burge Union and purchase my parking permit. When I finally figured out how to print my temporary permit I was off to my first class which was Women Gender and Sexuality Studies at Bailey Hall, I had some idea where my classes were but no idea what buses ran by what buildings so before I even got to class I was nervous about getting on the wrong bus. When I finally parked my car down by the Kansas Union I walked to the nearest bus stop and hopped on the first bus I saw hoping I was not late to class, when I got on the bus I had no idea what a ride I was in for. I ended up on West Campus with 4 minutes until my class started and I became overwhelmed and worried. When I arrived back on main campus I got off the bus immediately and started walking. When I arrived at Bailey my first class was letting out. I was devastated and returned back to my car and started crying. I decided to go home and try again Wednesday. Wednesday went much better, I arrived early enough to get a delightful parking spot. I had mapped out my classes Monday went I went home. I was much better prepared that day. I arrived to Bailey hall early. I found my WGSS very interesting, we discuss everyday topics pertaining to body image, media influence, and stereotypes based on race, body image, gender, and sexuality. My second class was at JR Pearson, it was the class I am writing this blog for. PRE 101. I figured taking an orientation seminar my first semester would be helpful teaching me better techniques for studying and keeping me organized and I figured the field trips would be a good way of learning campus. My third class was 2 hours after PRE 101 so I went to building where my next class was, it is BIOL210 Intro to clinical laboratory science. It is in Dole Center for human development. It was incredible and I liked talking over the syllabus it was interesting. I really like science and learning about the field of my major. My last class is College Algebra 101 it is at 6:30pm in Strong Hall. There are two and a half hours after my third class. It is exactly as it sounds. We went over review of basic math skills and talked about how we would proceed in the first unit. I was honestly bored the entire time and am still to this day. My first week was stressful for even only being 2 days and missing the first day because I left due to it being so overwhelmed. My favorite part of my first week was seeing the beautiful campus and my least favorite part was being on such an incredibly big campus with no direction or ideal of where to go.
