Adaptations: Track 9 and 27

Although you're unable to see in the images above, I have stuck pins through the back of the board poking through to the front to depict the pain I felt whilst listening to track 9, the continuous screeching and unnecessary sounds were uncomfortable and painful. The green in the background is a depiction of track 27, peaceful, calm rainforest. Track 9 is again explored through the solid red string through the middle of the ‘rainforest’ as it’s unnatural and not supposed to be there, which to me, represents the annoyance of track 9.

Project
Adaptations. We were asked to create an artwork/s based on sound from a list of 27 random exerts of songs, spoken word, speeches, ambient noises etc. and show our reaction to them/it. After listening to all of them, I was most drawn to the sounds that irritated me because I couldn't seem to escape them. After hearing one, it seemed like every second sound was a screeching noise of some kind. I wanted to contrast this sound and how I felt listening to it with a peaceful sound of outdoors of some kind. I decided on track 9 and track 27 as the contrast.

Studio Technologies: 50 Project With the expectation to create 50 of ‘something’ I decided to draw 25 portraits of people that have no relevance to me with the exception of a few and take 25 photographs of someone who has the most relevance to me (my sister). I displayed the drawings in an A5 sized journal because I wanted one person at a time to look at them, in hope that they would almost feel like they were apart of what was in there, yet I displayed the 25 photographs on a wall for everyone to see in an attempt to work with the opposites of things. The subject matter in those photographs means the most to me which is a personal thing yet is displayed not so personally for everyone to see, whereas the people in the journal (at least most people in the journal) don’t have a meaning to me yet are displayed in an intimate, personal way.
