oh? whats the specific thing that was retconned? i havent noticed anything of the sort myself so im honestly very curious!

whenever people say Apollo has "multiple backstories" its kinda funny to me a bit but not only because of the fact its actually just one backstory that doesn't contradict at any point (which is a post ive already made lol), but rather because of other facts:

Apollo has basically no backstory in the game named after him. His family gets some kind of backstory yes but he is pretty much left out of it to focus on Thalassa and Trucy and Phoenix more than anything, he's pretty much mentioned VERY little in that backstory. So it's not even one of his backstories, I'd say. It's more Trucy's.

In DD, he literally just gets a friend. Having a friend is not a backstory lol. Like yes Clay did come from nowhere but it does NOT count as a backstory. Literally all we get from his past with that friend is a small scene that tells us nothing but how their friendship works. No further story than that.

All in all, Spirit of Justice is literally the only game that actually gives him a backstory in any sense of the word. And it is literally about the one detail that is pretty much skipped over in the first OR second game where he didn't even get much anyway. It is not giving him "another" backstory, it's filling in the blanks what the first game didn't bother to care for much by actually giving him his first and only backstory.

So yes. Apollo HAS a convoluted backstory. But it is ONLY ONE, and is only ever shown at all in the game where people took to complaining that he has multiple.

Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1

The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.

So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.

So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.

Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.

And the probe is working again.

From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.

oh DANG i truly forgot to respond to this but yeah! it is indeed very helpful to know!!!

my problem originally was truly just, being wary of language like "this group of people is genetically disposed to X" which, in humans, is always entirely wrong and an excuse for bigotry, whatever way it might show.

so hearing the same kind of wording talking about dogs and animals in generals, i kinda got weary of that, because i thought something similar was maybe happening.

this was very helpful!

ok so ive already talked about this with a friend a while ago but id like others opinions. maybe like, science side of tumblr? or like, pet/animal side of tumblr? dunno how its called but yeah, that.

so maybe im like, too skeptical to something thats actually really simple and i shouldnt be skeptical about but i always find it a bit iffy when people say certain dog/cat/animal breeds have a specific personality.

like even though animals follow their instincts way more than humans do (yes, i know we humans are animals too) and are just simpler creatures than us, it is STILL way more credible to me that each individual member of a breed has its own personality, and the "personalities" we see may be us pushing stereotypes on them or causing them to act certain ways due to how we treat them and then pushing that onto them as if it was BIOLOGY and NATURE

like so many stereotypes for dog breeds are like "this breed is EVIL and WILL bite you" which to me just seems like that particular breed is treated in more abusive ways so theyre more likely to have defensive and aggressive traits. it doesnt feel like an innate thing. i mean there are always examples of even the ones most considered "the most aggresive breeds" that are just, cute and cuddly and adorable, right?

but yeah, dunno if this makes sense or if i explained myself correctly and stuff??
