Do you think there’s a specific tenet in Survivorism that said if you have illegitimate children you have to take good care of them? Because Lord Harms is very concerned about making sure Marasi has every possible opportunity to have a good life even though he doesn’t seem particularly even like Marasi at all. It reeks of “I’m only doing this because I have to”

Kaladin: So, Taln, your therapy is going really well. Let's talk more about your life before Heraldry. Were you happy back then?

Taln: I just miss the horses. That was my job, you know, taking care of the horses. They're such calm and gentle creatures. I struggle to think of something more peaceful than a barn filled with the sound of whinnies and the rustling of hay. I haven't felt true joy in 4,000 years, but there is something truly contagious about the joy in a horse's eyes when you brush their mane.

Kaladin: that is literally the most horrifying thing I can fucking imagine.

I do think that people in the Stormlight fandom underestimate how exhausting it is to live through a war. Which makes sense, because I imagine most people don't have that experience! (Including me— I'm pulling from family and community history here.). But it's normal to go through hell and just be tired at the end of it. To be ready for it to be over and just live, even if it means compromising on some things.

To me, Rlain's choices and allegiances are the most understandable thing in the world. After years of being alone and vulnerable and afraid, after watching his people die, for Rlain to be like "these people have carved out a place for me where I can just live and they genuinely try to make it a good place, so I don't care what color their uniforms are"? Like, yeah. I buy that completely.

And honestly, saying "I'm tired of fighting, let's try something new" can be an incredible act of bravery.
