I may have written something terrible for sormik. I don't know if I should post it. I feel like I may be charged with fandom crimes if this is the first and perhaps only thing I ever post into its ao3 tag.

I've gone through 16 pages of Zestiria's section (and almost all of the art on pixiv) and haven't come across this premise yet but I cannot have possibly been the only one to think of this. I was expecting to find several takes on it by now and I guess I'll be both disappointed and impressed if I never find another take on it through the remaining 91 or whatever pages if I make it that far.

It's not written in much of a formal style (basically My Sister's Husband all over again in that regard), so I'm feeling kind of bad thinking of posting it in the first place regardless of premise. That kind of thing seemed fine in Destiny because that game's fandom and by extension the S/L ship is an inactive desert in which I can carelessly kick dust every which way because there's nobody to give a crap and if someone does come by, they can eat the slop I've served up or continue starving.

Waaaahhhh the Tales of Link artbook was uploaded.... I have some things to say...! I'll compare with the art ripped from the game, since the game crops them kinda harshly sometimes. (I'm sorry, I'm a freak who's really only interested in Stahn and Leon, so I'm only covering them. You can go look at the book, though!)

One problem this whole artbook has is that a lot of the art overlaps... Even though these ones are meant to since they're UAs, I wish they had been separated far enough to not overlap. Plus it just happens with all kinds of art on most pages, so there's still details we'll just never see.

This one has their layers swapped so Stahn is in front. Stahn's legs look way too long... Wow... Whoever the Link artist is also consistently goes absolutely wild with Leon's cape. Physics and conservation of mass be damned.

I think Crestoria may be the only entry to ever try to make Destiny's waists not ridiculous...

I need you to examine Stahn's pelvis. Look at his protruding hip bones. And now look at where his butt presumably meets the ground. That is one LONG pelvis. I cannot see this art the same way again.

Art that was unused. ahm... um... that back arch though... (´艸`) hmmmhmhmmmMMM... Is this a piece of art that agrees with RM that Stahn should have a respectable bum?

This one isn't in decent res anywhere. Such a shame. Stahn looks so excited here that I have to smile... Leon's cape seems to have changed its shape entirely yet again. Link artist is wild. S68L also pointed out that it's actually a terrible pose for Leon because his arms overlap in a way that make it look like one broken arm if you look at it wrong. When I saw the group art before, I kept thinking they were both posed in like the perfect way for Leon's arms to be around Stahn's neck lol

Art that was never used. And with the other image's cape blocking almost half of it, the silhouette is entirely lost. I have no idea how to perceive his legs. Even his left leg, which is only obscured by the cape belonging to this image, seems nonsensical to me. We'll never know unless they release another, better laid out artbook or decide to recycle this, I guess.

They don't have full ref sheets in this book, which sucks. I don't know where to find the ref sheets for Link like Asteria and Rays had. But I know they must exist somewhere since someone even translated Leon's halloween one. Speaking of, that one's design notes were sure to specify that Leon's torso should be very flat. And yet here, within the same game, there's a curve to it. This is why when I write about it, I add the detail that his clothes are specifically tailored to hide the curves of his torso and make a straighter silhouette. (But then the school uniform also from this game is tailored to fully accentuate the intake of his waist... You'd think the halloween costume that was magic'd into existence and that he didn't even like, and had a CORSET, would have been the one to accentuate his waist, rather than the uniform that he had control over.)

It's also yet another completely different depiction of Leon's muscle mass. The PS1 demo interviews insisted he was RIPPED. That weird board game looking poster that promoted the PS1 version stated that he doesn't have much muscle or strength and thus can't wield heavy weapons. The PS2 remake's dialogue for the hot spring sidequest says he's mistakeable for a woman when clothed in just a towel wrapped around his chest, but his bare-chested sprite (while less muscular than Rutee's) still has very defined pectoral muscles. The manga based on the remake (and the artbook with the hot spring sidequest) flip flips all over the place, Kasukabe not really sure whether to draw him thin as a rail or with a decently realistic amount of pretty masculine looking muscle mass. Rays Gekijou goes right back to him being soft and mistakeable as a woman when clothed in chest towel. Dear Bandai Namco.... please decide once and for all what Leon's body is like........

The scaling of this is so off. Stahn's head is so much smaller than Leon's, and if he stood up straight, would not match the height difference they're supposed to have. And yet, if you scale his art up to where their heads are about the same size, the height difference puts the top of Leon's head around Stahn's chest rather than his ear like it's supposed to be. I'll... make a separate post with all the edits I've done to this page. I did a lot of very bad indulgent edits.

I hate the one pantleg rolled up. I hated it on Luke, I hate it here. Please justify why he has only one pantleg rolled up to show off his ankle like a HARLOT

Also the detail of Stahn wearing a watch... He probably does lose track of time easily, so I could see it being not-so-gently suggested to him until he finally got a watch. But I wonder if he even remembers to wear it most of the time... Hm hm hm.... Did he get it himself or was it a present from someone...?

And finally, this freaking suit. For the sake of that one sprite edit, I tried to find a full view of this art or one with the coat's tail fully visible so I could make the sprite edit accurate, but the closest I could find was one from Asteria (which also has a shorter tail than this one...), which had him turned away in such a way that I couldn't determine if it had a vent or not. And I didn't think to look at the gameplay chibi which could have told me sooner. I ended up erroneously giving him a vented tail... I need to go back and fix that eventually.

...I wonder what flavor the drink is. Or if he should even be drinking it. You are 16, put it down. You won't like it anyway, it's probably too bitter or sour.

Since Leon's got body issues, and it's literally different seeing someone in a mirror or photo than standing in front of them, I wonder what he'd think of Judas's body?

The issues you have with your own body can look just fine in someone else. That abdomen bump looks cute on that person whose body is shaped and even presented almost exactly like yours, but on you it's an unsightly mark of sloth and gluttony! etc.

Judas's suit leaves very little to the imagination, highlighting any curves he has, so I'm making a big wild guess here that as Judas, he doesn't have the same hangups about his body (or that trait hadn't been decided yet as of D2's release, idk). (though that costume does add to his shoulder width sometimes depending on the specific piece of artwork, so maybe he still has some insecurities. wow i'd like to play D2 to find out.)

So would Leon also see Judas's form as being inadequate? Would seeing him trip the same thought process as when he sees himself? Too short, too curvy, too slender, too soft of a face. If Judas doesn't have those hangups, perhaps he carries himself differently, which can also greatly change how people perceive someone. Maybe it doesn't look so bad on him since he seems to own it. Well, Leon knowing or not knowing who Judas is would also be a big factor. And if he knows, maybe Leon would just be upset that that's still what he looks like.

(I've written stuff based on other media where two of the same person meet and just tear each-other apart based on both their bodies and their choices. It's fun to explore!)

Listening to some choice music and thinking about how sometimes it just isn't fair. Sometimes there's just one or two people who don't get their happy ending. Not that that's inherently a bad thing in fiction.

So I'm thinking about mourning again. Harsh, ugly, in-the-moment mourning; and quiet, gentle, envious, years-later mourning.

My choices were this town square or one of the back rooms of the factory. They would have taken a tour. I went with this. ... The following week, we did the ghost sidequest, where NPCs noted moaning noises coming from the back rooms...

I was so happy with this pose that I immediately re-used one of its variants in a Destiny locale.

I got angry from this point on, so I also kind of decided "f*ck it" with this picture. So I'm sorry that it's a little goofy.

This marks the spot where I had to think harder about where they went, because it's a little difficult to not notice Sudden Onset R*cism Disease. And if they did notice, they'd definitely get involved. I could only pick from places we had been the previous week, so my options for how to best keep them from noticing the plot became even more limited...

I didn't know they'd turned the peach pie into a low effort nothingburger of a meme at the time.

It's a joke. It is non-canon to the roadtrip. Sorry for re-using a pose. I'll do it a few more times. (And I kind of plan to re-use some of the poses I made specifically for this, but in Destiny locales)

Why this? Rebirth spoilers...

Balka is an island that can only be reached by boat. I didn't want to put them on a boat if I could help it. I also didn't want them in Balka because too much plot was happening there at the time for them to avoid it. But then one week, we were literally only in Balka, so I had no choice but to use it because of the rules I'd set for myself. So I re-used this gag pose and put them on the throne. I figured it was too silly to be taken seriously.

Plot just doesn't stop happening at Balka, so they never go to Balka. (Mad about this! There's a nice garden room that Leon would have loved!!) They interpreted the night of Goldba and the exploding dragon as just a combo eclipse+meteor shower!
