my opinion about studying disabled people and their rare disabilities is this:

even if you are the only human being on earth with a specific medical condition, you should not be expected to spend your singular only lifespan being studied, examined, tested, and written about. it can be asked of you, but you should be able to say “no”.

even if it’s for the “greater good”. even if it’s to “advance science” or “save future lives”. you should have to consent to being studied every single time.

idk where all of this weed-smoke discourse erupted from, but “weed is fine and you shouldn’t be a snitch about it” and “don’t burn plant matter in public spaces where someone you don’t know might have, like, a lung condition” are two sentiments that can and do coexist. i have asthma and i hang out with stoners pretty much constantly. i’ve never felt the urge to snitch and no one has ever blatantly disrespected my avoidance of smoke. they’re always eager to help keep it away from me when needed, which isn’t difficult to do. i hate to say this, but my only takeaway from a hypothetical scenario in which a stoner is blasting weed smoke in public like a dragon and an asthmatic feels the need to involve the cops is that both individuals are unpleasant and i don’t want to be around either of them lmao

in order to unlearn racism u have to be willing to accept that u are racist. it’s not a bad thing to want to change for the better. it’s not a bad thing to say hey, the way i’ve been acting is racist and i don’t want to be racist anymore. when people of color are telling u ways in which u have been racist, it’s actually not cool to brush it off and say, well i didn’t mean it that way.. u actually have to make an effort to stop doing those things if u want to be able to actually say ur anti-racist. u can’t just say ur not racist because u don’t wanna be seen as racist. that’s not how unlearning racism works.

slavery is honestly kind of an insulting word to use to describe what white people did to black people in this country and I think it boils it down to something that doesn’t even scratch the surface. You’re not recovering from that and everything that came after in just a few decades. People always want to say well the Chinese Americans and Italians or whoever tf else recovered from their oppression why can’t black people and it’s like just so eye opening to know that so many people cannot fathom what chattel slavery in this country was like. For 400 years. And they spent every year afterwards trying to recreate slavery in a way that was legal. It disgusts me to no end and even black people aren’t exempt from belittling what was done to them.

Shoutout to my dad who asked me what asexual meant and when I told him he said “it sounds like you need to get laid” and to my mom who asked me what being genderfluid was and then said “why does any of that have to do with gender. Just do whatever you want” and then to my dad again who I told I wasn’t cis and who responded “I think more important than being a man or a woman is being an adult” and then right back to my bio mom who said “if you want to be a boy just do it already. Why do you care what I think. You were cooler when you were 8 and didn’t give a shit about anyone’s opinion”. Neither of you get it but you’re still pretty chill

I think they're neat! I see the appeal in their dynamic and they actually have some great chemistry, angst and all. While they're not exactly my cup of tea I find their budding relationship (if Jax didn't mar it with with his self sabotage, but we know Pomni will fight for it we know she would) to be rife with so much potential, with or without Jaxs' redemption.

[ TSG Jax - Design Sheet ]

I decided to make a 'little' visual guide for my Jax design in the "To Stay Gold" fanfiction, which explores a different ending than the canon episode 6. :] For my own sake when drawing him & for others as a reference how his design changes throughout the story. I figured a new design for this AU would be more fitting than re-using the AEOY design, since they're two different universes I don't wanna mix too much.

Aside from design differences he's essentially like canon Jax, especially personality wise (in the first iteration, that is) - reclusive asshole that doesn't want anyone near for the fear of abandonment and/or losing them again after being there for 2 abstractions already.

The second design takes place after the Award's Show, where after his panic attack he realizes his left eye had abstracted, leaving him with patches of black abstraction matter that slowly spread the more emotionally aggravated he is.

The abstraction patches are vaguely reminiscent of the nightsky, with black and blueish hues as well as star-like, glowing patters in them.

The abstracted eye always glow, and he has the same vision as Kaufmo in the pilot in said eye - blurry, oversaturated, overstimulating. His other eye has it's normal vision, leading to issues with his sight from time to time.

Some parts of his body adapt: His tail gets longer and messier, his fur becomes unkempt and his posture sufferes, making him slouch even more. Also his claws grow out further, making them sharper and more curved.

Loses his typical grin in the abstracted design, as well as his eyes changing shapes. He can have abstracted eyes appear in the black patches when he's angry.

Carries everyone's keys around a chain on his hip & his own key around his neck. After abstracting he hides everyone's keys and his own from his own sight, as he doesn't trust himself to keep them safe - and he's afraid of people entering his room, so he locks the door and keeps it locked.

Also removes his piercings when he abstracted, as they oversimtulated his senses. He's incredibly antsy and aggravated in his abstracted form, and loses his patience/temper quickly even if he doesn't mean it.

The recovered stage hasn't started yet in the story, so I'll refrain from giving out too much about it - just know he's still a lowkey asshole, but not as much as before.

Mane grows longer in his abstracted form as part of his emotional distress.

Quiet noises actually calm him down in the abstracted phase.

Displays animalistic behavior during the abstracted phase when aggravated or confronted with loud noises/bright lights.

I was inspired to draw them as I finished up the third chapter for "To Stay Gold".

Also a third sketch under the cut, as idk if it'd be taken as suggestive, so I'm just making sure. Nothing too bad, just partial nudity & "blood".

Abstracted Jax Ideas

Building on top of the idea of his left eye abstracting I was like "Hey... what if he became some sort of hybrid later on that's still sapient but also lowkey a huge cat with the biggest protective instinct ever". Adding some monsterfuckery into my favorite queerplatonic ship YEEHAWW

This motherfucker comes with everything a huge ass cat needs, can't speak in that form but can make various noises, similar to what Kaufmo sounded in the pilot - but he can also imitate noises, such as echoes, cries and purring.

He'll be appearing in writing in my "To Stay Gold" story most likely >:]
