what_kind_of_games_do_you_er
Strategy games, mostly. In college, I was a professional poker player—if only just for the money. On a more casual level, I was a Starcraft fiend when it was more vogue, getting some minor infamy in the amateur scene, and I’ve garnered a few tournament tops in MTG and Yu-Gi-Oh. I play a lot of Legends of Runeterra these days, and I’m learning Flesh and Blood now.
Beyond that, it’s an inconsistent smattering, mostly games with strategy elements. Arknights, Factorio, League of Legends, Civilization, Pokémon.
Are you a gamer, as well, or were you just curious?

Saryn. Oooh, I like hunting things for sport! Especially over real harsh terrain like a desert or a tundra! Maybe shoot real close to em!
Well met, Saryn. Pardon the delay, I’ve been occupied by
✧・゚: *✧・゚ science ✧・゚: *✧・゚
against my will for days. Not actually against my will, it’s just a case of my roommate not telling me about things she’s volunteered me for.
A hunter, are you? I’ve hunted a few times, but I take it you’re a much more experienced hunter than anyone I’ve gone hunting with. Certainly more daring. What do you usually hunt?

I do not mind little reminders like that. To be honest, they are quite silly and, well, just little reminders of yourself and it’s quite nice. I have yet to meet someone who had any kind of… malicious intent behind it. And yes! Business is fantastic, blooming, even. It’s quite popular due to my connections around town and in general people just liking me. T'is the life of a daughter of some Gods heh… Yeah, I suppose Stardew is kind of strategistic if you decide to pull the spreadsheets out. I have not played Factorio though, is it good? Would you recommend it? I’m planning on purchasing the newest game that they are to release soon. I feel like it’s quite a fitting start to begin with a brand new game with brand new lore and cute designs to boot. Plus, as my favorite cousin is a violet enjoyer, I feel like I should purchase Pokemon Violet just because of that.
Pardon the delay. I succumbed to exhaustion, and was extremely busy the next few things. It...will happen again. It’s why my online presence is as spotty as it is.
I’m glad your business is well. To do what you love is a blessing—to be loved for it even more so. I’d ask some deeper questions, but botany or gardening aren’t among the fields I've ever dabbled in. Not that I’m not interested, it’s just not something that I know much about.
Factorio is excellent if you’re a...certain kind of person. It’s a management simulator for people who enjoy building and maintaining intricate systems, and are satisfied by the refinement and optimization process. Watch some gameplay of it. If it piques your interest, I would absolutely recommend you give it a try, but it’s not for everyone.
Scarlet and Violet seem like they might be fun. I’ll probably try them out, as well. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Sword and Shield on-release. The story, the world design, and the designs of the individual Pokémon weren’t as appealing to me as some earlier titles, so I initially gave it a poor review. But I actually found myself appreciating a lot of the mechanical depth of the metagame as time went on, and I gave it another shot. I enjoyed competitive battling for the first time in a long while. I’ll keep an open mind. I’ll probably go for Scarlet, myself.

It’s more about what I can put myself into the headspace of having the hots for, even if I don’t actually myself. I’m curious how you mean, if you don’t mean fucking. What are you going to do, feed me a snack and go “Yep, sure is swallowing it. Must be a throat in there.”? Scientific inquiry may be difficult, lets keep it to fields I do know how to explore. And either I’m not following your joke, or you’re grossly overestimating how hard I am to satisfy.
Ah, no, you were not the subject, there—but I don’t think the joke was good enough to be worth giving more time to for an explanation, so I’ll leave it at that.
I didn’t mean scientific inquiry, either! I’m not a physicist anymore, and even when I was, I was concerned with mathematical models, simulations, and exotic states of matter. I’d have no idea how to do anything remotely scientific, I just think it would be novel to touch something solid that isn’t matter, or see someone undergo non-biological change. I think you people are so used to magic on this website that you forget there are many of us who’ve never seen anything like it.

...Your pulls are literally pulling people off the streets for labor.
That’s such a hilariously dystopian and evil concept that I’d have preferred if it just ran with it, instead of trying to justify it by reassuring you that it’s justified by your special power, which can keep them safe from the psychosis-illness that’s threatening the setting.
If you want your players to do unspeakable things, stop grasping at straws to justify how they’re not atrocities. Just go full Frostpunk!

The biggest issue I’m having is that the game’s narrative vibes are atrocious from the onset. Gameplay-wise, it’s enjoyable so far—but the core conceit of the character you’re playing as is...woof.
You’re a police chief, and all of your units are inmates you’ve arrested and forced to fight for you. Pulling units means sending out squads of thugs to grab people off of the street.
I’m not joking.
You supposedly don’t actually treat your inmates like inmates, and the story mode has had compassion for each of the people arrested, but...good lord, does that concept fail the vibe check.
I’m hesitantly giving this game the benefit of the doubt for now, because I had the same initial impressions towards Arknights. Arknights looked like it was a game about putting down popular revolts, and changing the world the right way—read: the bootlicking way, by working with the police. But Arknights was setting up for a bait-and-switch, and its approach to politics has a lot more nuance than you’d expect.
That said, this is quite the large hole that this story has to crawl its way out of in order to even get on neutral territory in my eyes.
Trying a new game. Path to Nowhere came out today—a gacha TD in the vein of Arknights. It’s been nice, so far, but…I’m reminded why the most successful tower defenses use bright colors and cartoonish, 2D spritework.
Arknights is so much more readable at a glance.

Slurps my tea. I would assume the latter. I do think it’s also just straight up magic. I mean, I guess if you went to a priest and asked if souls are made of magic they might give you a funny look, but. At the very least when I was Sired he took my soul out of my body and pumped magic into it. … Or maybe he didn’t take it out first. I wasn’t exactly conscious at the time. I can’t be subdivided at all. I can’t just split my body apart. I mean, maybe a Wrath demon could, but it would follow that “Wrathful” destruction of my form wouldn’t preserve the function of it. And I can only do things that I can internally rationalize as Lust related.
Not even if someone has the hots for it, hm? Shame. Well, I suppose that’s probably all I’m going to get out of this line of questioning—not like I can do anything with this information, anyways. It was pure curiosity.
I would like to see your body in action, sometime. That’s not innuendo—not that I’d be averse to that either, it’s just not relevant to the current conversation topic.
At least I’ve learned that there’s someone out there I’d be able to satisfy better than a literal succubus for a solid 15-30 seconds.
