Honor teases its first foldable, the Magic V
Former Huawei sub-brand Honor has teased the launch of its first foldable smartphone, the Honor V. An image shared on its Weibo and Twitter accounts teases the design of the device, showing a telltale hinge between the two halves of the device. The Weibo post says the “folding flagship is about to be released,” though no exact launch date has been announced and Honor declined to comment.
Honor has been open about its desire to release a foldable for some time. As early as 2019, the company’s CEO George Zhao told CNET that he was interested in producing a foldable under the Honor brand, but expressed concerns that the device would be too expensive for Honor’s younger target market. In June this year, reports emerged that development of such a device was underway at the company, and that its folding display panels were being provided by BOE and Visionox.
There aren’t many details on the exact form the Magic V could take, but a report from The Elec suggests it could have an 8.03-inch folding inner display paired with a 6.45-inch outer screen. That suggests a device that resembles Samsung’s Z Fold devices (which unfold from a phone form factor into a tablet) rather than its Z Flip (a phone that folds to become more compact). That’s also the form factor used by Honor’s former parent company Huawei with its Mate X2, though now that Honor has been independent for a year it’s unclear how similar its upcoming device might be.
Honor joins an expanding list of companies that have either released, or are planning to launch their own foldables. Samsung and Huawei were two early entrants, but more recently we’ve seen foldables from Xiaomi, Motorola, and Oppo, which officially announced its Find N phone earlier this month. As well as Honor, Google is also rumored to be planning to announce as many as two foldables of its own in the near future.

OnePlus 10 Pro: these are the new Hasselblad camera features
OnePlus 10 Pro: these are the new Hasselblad camera features
OnePlus shared some more details on the second-generation Hasselblad camera that will be present on the latest OnePlus 10 Pro flagship device. The company shared the official design not long ago, and it also revealed some of the specifications. The 10 Pro features a triple camera layout, and it comes with several new features and advancements. OnePlus talks about how the partnership created the company’s most impressive camera to this date. New features include the new 150-degree ultrawide camera, Movie Mode, more colors, and Hasselblad Pro Mode with RAW+.
Second-Generation Hasselblad Pro Mode:
The OnePlus 10 Pro comes equipped with the second-generation Hasselblad Pro Mode that is supported on all three rear cameras (48MP, 50MP, and 8MP). The new software allows the sensors to capture photos in 12-bit RAW, complete with Hasselblad’s Natural Color Solution. The new Color Solution supports 10-bit color that can deliver more colorful and natural photos, and the 10 Pro now supports over one billion colors. OnePlus says the new camera can capture photos with a 25-percent increase in DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and it can process 64-times more color than its predecessor – the OnePlus 9 Pro. The new Color Solution is also supported on all three cameras.
The OnePlus 10 Pro’s Hasselblad Pro mode also supports the new RAW format called RAW+, which provides more flexibility and higher quality image files with greater dynamic range, improved noise reduction, and more that allow users to edit their important moments.
150-degree Ultrawide Camera:
The ultrawide sensor offers an impressive 150-degree field of view, more than the 110-125-degrees that come on other competitive smartphones. The new ultrawide camera also supports a Fisheye Mode that can replicate the fisheye effect and provide a unique perspective to the image. OnePlus also mentions that the new sensor allows users to record video in the traditional 110-degree field of view, taking advantage of the AI distortion correction feature.
Movie Mode:
Original on the left, RAW+edited on right
OnePlus 10 Pro will also support the new Movie Mode feature that allows users to adjust the ISO, shutter speed, and other settings before and during video recordings. Movie Mode will also let users film in a LOG format without a pre-set picture profile, providing videographers with a blank canvas for editing. All video capture using the LOG format will offer a greater dynamic range and more detail in shadows and highlights.

OnePlus 10 Pro LTPO 2.0 Demonstration
OnePlus' CEO, Pete Lau, has just confirmed that the brand's upcoming 10 Pro flagship will be unveiled in early 2022. Now, the exec has taken to Weibo again to tease the smartphone's display in terms of what may be one of its most advanced features direct from its supplier Samsung, dubbed "LTPO 2.0".
One of Pete Lau's latest Weibo posts had hinted strongly at a January 2022 launch for the 10 Pro, currently touted as this brand's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered top-end smartphone. Now, the executive has returned to the social media platform with a new teaser for this phone's display.
Lau prefaced this new official spec leak with a short history of OnePlus' role in spearheading mobile screen technology, such as its early adoption of 90Hz QHD+ AMOLED back in the days of the 7 series. The company then progressed to "next-gen" LTPO technology in the 9 Pro, a spec now revealed to see an upgrade in the 10 Pro.
This "LTPO 2.0" will be incorporated into a new premium display panel, once again supplied by Samsung. According to Lau, this will enhance the "smoothness" of the UI to be found on the 10 Pro (possibly the first phone to ship with OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12).
Finally, the CEO referred to the 1-120Hz VRR technology found in the flagship 9 series, thereby possibly hinting at the same again for the 10 Pro. All of these potentially interesting properties are tipped to act on a ~6.7-inch 1440p AMOLED display.

The Xiaomi 12 Pro’s main camera is absolutely massive, Specifications, Price ...
Xiaomi is at it again — putting another fantastically huge camera on a flagship phone. This time, it’s the Xiaomi 12 Pro with a 50-megapixel main sensor and f/1.9 standard wide lens. It’s not the very biggest sensor Xiaomi has used in a phone, but the combination of a wide aperture lens and sizable imaging chip makes it... well, just look at the thing.
On the technical side, it’s a Sony IMX707 chip, which Xiaomi says it’s the first to use in a mobile device. Gizmochina points out that the 707 appears to be a very light refresh of the IMX700, which makes that claim a little less exciting. Either way, it’s a large 1/1.28-inch type sensor. Sony combines its 1.22μm pixels, which are already fairly large for a mobile camera sensor, to create even larger 2.44μm “4-in-1” pixels for better low-light photos.
The 12 Pro includes two more 50-megapixel rear camera sensors: an ultrawide and a telephoto. The Xiaomi 12 features a slightly smaller 1/1.56-inch type sensor, a 13-megapixel ultrawide, and a 5-megapixel “telemacro.” In addition to impressive hardware, the 12 and 12 Pro include camera software improvements like reduced shutter lag, burst shooting improvements, and subject tracking for human and animal faces.
On the non-camera side, the 12 Pro and its 12 sibling have all the trimmings of a modern flagship with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets and 120Hz OLED panels. The Xiaomi 12 offers a 6.28-inch screen and a 4,500mAh battery; the 12 Pro includes a 6.73-inch screen with 1,500 nit peak brightness and a 4,600mAh battery with 120W fast charging.
If you’d like to become the proud owner of a really, really big smartphone camera, both go on sale in China on December 31st. The 12 Pro starts at RMB 4,699 (about $737) for 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and the Xiaomi 12 starts at RMB 3,699 (about $580) for the same 8GB / 128GB configuration.
