something to be studied abt how certain types of (usually usamerican, sometimes australian, canadian, etc) terfs are obsessed with having their own "land" and having "women's land" and the idea of owning a restrictive piece of "land" where "men" aren't allowed to go with the idea that this area of "land" they've fenced off for themselves with will be a place absent of oppression with some sort of healing connection between the women and the "land". plastering over anything that might have happened with that "land" in those places to make a historyless blank-slate homesteading fantasy fenced off for only a specific group of people who meet certain "biological" criteria you deem "safe" for you on "your" "land"

I have three jobs that are all unstable. I live in complete poverty as a sole provider to a family of three in the global south. I am on maintenance medicine for hypocalcemia, type II diabetes and hypothyroidism for the rest of my life. My mother is a full time wheelchair user with very low movement, my father is managing a chronic kidney disease, and my sister is autistic with a low frustration threshold. I am their sole provider, and now dealing with nerve damage post surgery- a quarter of my face, and nearly my entire neck has not healed properly- its numb and painful and makes it hard to work for me as it limits my own movement somewhat. like I think it is good and important to be able to criticise porn and erotica for the relationship to the political environment/context of creation etc, but I think that’s not too different from criticising any other art on these grounds. how is the erotica speaking to conventions of the genre? what is the author trying to tell you in what they hold up as attractive? what might the author be saying that they’re not necessarily aware that they’re saying? how does the narrative relate to other dominant cultural narratives? these are all valuable questions to ask and can be answered in nuanced ways that do not involve kink-shaming & do not involve calling people degenerate perverts. yknow.
