ik the “well they arent talking/replying in chat” -> “how do i know theyre new and not just an asshole troll” worry is sth ive seen ppl bring up but its like. 1) theres lots of sprouts who play on console and dont have keyboard set up so between “pausefor 2 minutes to type a sentence” and continuing to fight, theyre probably gonna choose the latter, esp when theres also ppl who get impatient when someone doesnt pull or “stands around doing nothing”. more often than not ive seen ppl get called “trolls” when its abundantly clear theyre just new players who are confused and panicking. 2) if its an honest to god troll being an ass then whatever u can kick them. if the vote kick doesnt work (eg multiple trolls voting against) document the encounter and send in a report and be done with it. as an experienced player that knows the game thats ur privilege lol

like. dont be a pissy asshole for no reason, dont take out ur anger on new players. if u arent willing to deal w new ppl then u shouldnt be playing a multiplayer game? if u arent having fun then log off, and dont take out ur frustrations on other players esp not new players who r still trying to figure things out…

i do think some long time players rly need to take a step back and remember to act like a normal human being

like i get how its easy to get caught up in the monotony of doing daily/weekly ffxiv tasks -> autopilot it but also dont forget that theres other ppl playing this game and they dont have the exact same level of understanding as u. theres newer players who do not know the game as well as u/have not picked up the unspoken “rules” or whatever. eg the expectation of wall pulling dungeons, or mt stance on/dont aggro fight, others that i cant think of rn but apply. new players have to learn somehow and silently Expecting them to just read ur mind and then getting pissy when they dont is weird behavior lol

honestly stormblood is p shit and i do think its funny ppl try to be like Umm aksually its good. like endwalker theres Parts that are like genuinely good and im not denying that there was potential in what it tried to present. but overall stb ended up pretty shit lol

my constant bitching abt ffxiv is actually rly funny to me bc its like yes i do enjoy this game a lot yes i do like bitching abt its many flaws yes i love to complain w friends and take apart our interests piece by piece to scrutinize whether negative or positive. no i would not in good conscience recommend that my friends play this

i am still annoyed at the ways certain story bits in enw not only detract from the impact of its Own themes, but retroactively fuck w the potency of /previous/ story themes as well, shb in particular. but also im not as annoyed as i could be bc tbh enw being as messy as it is also means that its like. kinda easy for me to just not take it seriously

its inherent “feels like a shitty fixit fanfic” style means that its actually p easy for me to go back and replay shb and be like. this is rly good its a great isolated story :) (forgets that enw exists)

(2000+ hours in an ongoing game a decade old) (constantly bringing out the dead horses to beat wrt the ways storywriting/mechanics/design choices couldve been better) (10 alts to replay the game) (thinks up hypotheticals where structuring couldve been improved to not suck) (replays shb and drk quest 7+ times on ng+) (incapable of not bitching about 92638562 things in the game that are annoying)

the msq 82(?) solo duty is a good example of the way a duty’s structure and scripting can be genuinely harrowing and well made despite the backdrop it is placed in being pretty dogshit. the msq 87 post dungeon cutscene is an example of how a cutscene can be rly poignant despite the duty and story leading up to it being a joke

all in all it rly is best summed up by “the epic highs and lows and highs and lows of enw”

they need to make subsequent completions of the manderville weapons cutscene skippable on god or im going to kill someone

the rf series has a special place in my heart bc i literally grew up w this series (along w bokumono) and despite several things that werent great i have more or less enjoyed each of yhe entries

i didnt knlw there was maint today so literally just tried to log in after work and found out that there was maint… was so sad… so i went to play on my switch instead and saw that 3 friends were online -> all 3 also major ffxiv gaymers

i still and will always think ppl who get for real mad at video games like 13yr olds on cod throwing slurs without knowing the meaning are cringe and embarrassing and need to log off but i say yhis while understanding that the assmad is So real. and its because i understand that i say logging off is an absolute necessity

ffxiv pvp is my bane bc the thing is i firmly believe that if u play a video game and constantly get pissed/stressed to the point of true assmad then u need to stop like u seriously need to log off

and yet i still log on ffxiv and go into pvp. “itll be better this time” “ill get bh5 and maybe we’ll win and itll be fine” i say as i load into seal rock. and then my team (north) gets double fucked by both teams being Up Our Asses for 10 fucking minutes while we have zero points
