'People are panicking about AI tools the same way they did when the calculator was invented, stop worrying' cannot stress enough the calculator did not forcibly pervade every aspect of our lives, has such a low error rate it's a statistical anomaly when it does happen, isn't built on mass plagiarism, and does not obliterate the fucking environment when you use it. Be so fucking serious right now

5. What's your interpretation of Lottie's mall hallucination in S2?
8. Who was she planning to apologize to before she died? Why do you think that?
13. Was Travis' death an accident or more sinister? What do you think happened?
28. What's your overall favorite Lottie headcanon?
Also (I'm so sorry) 24. What is your most controversial Lottie opinion? (You can dm if you don't wanna start discourse lol!)
Drink water and I hope you have a good day!
EYOOOOOOOO. we talked and you said that just answering 8 is fine, so that's what i'm gonna do teehee!
8. Who was she planning to apologize to before she died? Why do you think that?
you know, i think it's really interesting that it's not clear who this apology is for. i've seen some people interpret the apology as being for shauna. i've seen some people interpret the apology as being for lisa. hell, i've seen people interpret the apology as being for deadass travis!
what's more interesting to me than who the apology was for is actually the transition directly after lottie's mirror scene. the show takes us back into the trial in the teen timeline. this is maybe... my favorite scene of lottie? don't hold me to that, but!! it's definitely up there. during the trial, misty is questioning lottie. she gets lottie to confirm that lottie is aware people (most of them?) don't believe in the wilderness. they have their anecdote about history & how lottie is apparently an ace in class, and of course-- the acknowledgement that, famously, people have enacted violence when they didn't conform to belief systems.
misty gets going on questioning lottie, moving through the idea that anyone who didn't believe in the wilderness might have burnt the cabin down & then chasing the possibility that maybe lottie burnt down the cabin because she was upset "it" didn't want her to be the leader anymore.
at first, lottie tries to defend herself. she says she didn't burn the cabin down, but she's cut off. misty tells her that one could infer from context that she has motive, and lottie... well, she doesn't even try to argue that isn't true.
it's interesting because through misty's questioning, the whole group has to come to the conclusion that if all of them technically had motive to burn the cabin down... then how can they convict ben? lottie confirms that she doesn't think it's fair.
i'm not sure that i have the--AHHH-- the intelligence???--to say exactly what i want to say here. but it's always struck me as interesting that lottie has never denied that she's hurt people. in season 2, nat tells her she started all this! she says, "maybe that's true." in the teen timeline, misty tells her the same after javi's death. she doesn't try to deny it. travis calls her "bullshit!" she doesn't deny it. akilah does the same. she doesn't defend herself. shauna punches the SHIT out of her. she puts her hands behind her back and lets herself get demolished... lottie feels that she's wrong, even as she's trying desperately to be right. she's moving through the spiral of her mind and she's trying to do right by everyone, but she keeps getting it wrong!
honestly, the fact of it is that lottie is not the only one to blame for what happened in the wilderness, and it isn't fair that she's the scapegoat for the other girls, who were present through every step of every escalation. nevertheless, even as lottie can recognize ben shouldn't take the fall for the cabin, which really can't be pinned on anybody... lottie never gives herself that grace. how can she? every message from every person around her is that she is WRONG.
to me, it doesn't matter who lottie's preparing the apology for. i think the biggest takeaway from the scene is that lottie is sorry. her whole character is sorry. she tries and tries and tries, and she never gets it right. she tried to be the conduit for the wilderness and she never wins. she gets punished and she gets punished and she gets punished. there's never truly any reward to this game, even as she's fighting a cosmic battle her delusions have led her to believe are in the best interest of her team. she is so fucking sorry for letting her team down...
some people have interpreted this scene as manipulative?? i don't really think so. to me, it reads as helpless. she's so used to saying fucking sorry, and it never gets through that she is. i think she's trying to channel the apology as hard as possible. like please fucking believe me! like, how can i make you understand that i'm sorry? how can i make you understand that this whole time i was trying? how do i deal with the fact that you hate me when i love you so dearly?
oh my fucking god, lottie matthews.

Things my rewatch of a league of their own has made me think about
How the players had noticeable age differences. Like some of them act and appear like teenagers, some like college kids to mid 20s and the older players appearing like they were in their 30s
The gay history that took place in such a conservative time period — specifically the gay communities that existed and how each person has a different story/relationship with their own queerness
The 40s in general and how it’s romanticized despite being absolute shit (god i hope no one romanticizes the 2020s)
Speakeasies. Speakeasies being romanticized. Speakeasies being raided. Speakeasies that were the original safe space for certain individuals.
#aloto#a league of their own#I could write a whole political essay on this shit#and how time repeats itself

my favorite part of derry girls was just how accurately it portrayed being a normal person in a time of crisis. obviously the events in derry are very much real and ireland has experienced decades of political conflict, and this DOES impact the main characters in a lot of ways, but they still also…. go to school. worry about their friends and birthday parties and being together. because they’re just teenage girls (+ james) and that resonated with me a lot, especially now

tumblr leftists being surprised to see middle aged white women with signs or hats saying "deny defend depose" really reinforces for me that tumblr leftists don't actually talk to people lmao. like I did a lot of canvassing as a teenager and you know who the best most reliable political organizers are? middle aged women. you know who's bloodthirsty after watching rachel maddow every night and sharing HuffPo articles on facebook? middle aged women. maybe sheryl from iowa who's been voting religiously for democrats for the past thirty years IS more hardcore than you, tumblr user who did a write-in "protest vote." what are you going to do about that.

I would like to add that another reason this is so terrible is because individuals will not be buying this land. Individuals cannot AFFORD to buy plots of land (at least not in my state). So who will be buying all of this public land? Billionaires. People like Bill Gates. And if people like that buy this land? Well, we are screwed. They already have a monopoly on everything else. What’s going to happen when they own all the land too? They’ll control the ag industry and in turn they will control food, oil, lumber, clothing. Now imagine what the world could look like when a bunch of greedy old men control the ag industry. It’s already on the brink of collapse and this will not fix it. So yeah, if you think the economy is bad now, just give it a couple more years.
THE ENTIRE WEST IS BEING PUT UP FOR SALE AND I AM BEGGING YOU TO CALL YOUR SENATORS

Trump’s budget bill has many, many things in it, but buried amongst it is the MILLIONS OF ACRES OF PUBLIC LAND FOR SALE.
This is the entirety of the Arizona state forests, the entire Cascades mountain range. Swathes of pristine desert around the national parks in Utah. On the doorstep of Jackson Hole.
THIS BILL IS BIG, BUT IT CAN BE AMENDED AND ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT PASS AS IS please.
If you have ever enjoyed the wilderness, we stand to lose it all forever.
CALLING your senators - NOT JUST IN THE WEST. ALL SENATORS, is CRUCIAL.
Outdoor alliance has a great resource for reaching out.
I don’t have a huge following but please, everywhere I have ever loved, the forests I grew up playing in, the land I got married on, is all at risk and I am begging.

It’s funny, most people can be around someone and then gradually begin to love them and never know exactly when it happened; but Ruth knew the very second it happened to her. When Idgie had grinned at her and tried to hand her that jar of honey, all these feelings that she had been trying to hold back came flooding through her, and it was at that second in time that she knew she loved Idgie with all her heart. That's why she had been crying, that day. She had never felt that way before and she knew she probably would never that way again.

You ever just get pissed off at men? Like I barely have any men in my life. I limit my time around them to only if absolutely necessary. And yet?? They still find ways to get on my last nerve

they should invent a bus that never gets stuck in traffic because it's on its own path separated from the roads. and then chain multiple of them together and put it on rails. has anyone had this idea before.
