Tories today: “we are concerned that our message hasn’t been reaching you since you haven’t killed yourself yet… 🤔 maybe we haven’t been direct enough. Kill yourself? Okey? 🥹”

I was unemployed completely for a few years, and am now back in work part time, but I still receive benefits. Every time I have ever worked full time I have become suicidal and ended up in crisis, being signed off for weeks at a time. I am doing my best. It is not sufficient. If these rules had been in place a couple of years ago things could have ended very badly for me. This does not matter.

It is just rather disheartening to receive the message, continually louder and clearer, that the government would kiiiiinda like it if I just killed myself instead of living off benefits in any way. I mean, if I did, it’s not their fault that I was a failure whose best recourse was death… but like, seriously, have you considered topping yourself today babes? xoxo - British government

“We want more people to try therapy etc. instead of receiving financial help” oh really? Where are you gonna magic all that therapy out from? The NHS is already overwhelmed due to under-resourcing. The fact that people can’t access help when they need it is part of why there’s more, and worse, health problems in the UK today than in the past.

Not to mention that therapy isn’t a “cure”, won’t work for everyone, and CANNOT SOLVE POVERTY OR SOCIETAL ISSUES

It’s cartoonishly evil. It’s just a very direct attack on disabled people, couched in language of “reforms and improvements” that aren’t practically achievable. Christ on a bike

Went to the Farne Islands the other day!! I took a couple of unimpressive photos but mostly I just took… ✨memories✨

Saw puffins, kittiwakes, gannets, guillemots, razorbills, shags, black-backed gulls, sandwich terns, and grey seals!!
