Wendy Via Organizer AMA Audio Now Available
Last Tuesday we spoke with Wendy Via, co-founder and CEO of FTH supported org, Global Project Against Hate and Extremism. We heard about how hate groups are using the internet to mobilize and connect with one another in new ways, and also about the two most reliable pathways for fighting organized hate: forcing social media companies to constrain or deplatform hate speech (either through direct pressure or through government policy), and building inclusive communities in our own neighborhoods where we can have the hard conversations together.
Wendy emphasized that the most effective way for individuals to affect policy is to CALL our representatives, and she also emphasized the importance of local involvement, including letters to the editor of your local paper, and attending your local city council meetings, town halls, and school board meetings. You can listen and download the audio of our conversation here.

FTHA living room hangout this Tuesday
Hi friends,
In the spirit of "try something new and see what happens," we want to try out a new way of being together and supporting one another through difficult times.
Over the past few months, we've held a couple of AMAs in the same Tuesday evening timeslot (and we have another one lined up for mid-May -- more details coming soon!) Since that's shaping up to be a regular gathering time for us, we thought it might be nice to get together during the weeks when there isn't an AMA, just to check in and catch up.
So tomorrow night (Tuesday the 22nd) at 9pm ET/6pm PT, we'll be gathering on the FTHA discord server for an informal chat and hangout. And if it goes well, we might make it into a regular thing.
We hope you can come by!

Starting shortly!!
Our next Activist AMA is coming up!
Join us Tuesday, April 15th at 9:00 Eastern/6:00 Pacific for an AMA with Wendy Via, CEO and Co-Founder of Global Project Against Hate and Extremism. We're extremely honored to host Wendy on the FTH Action Discord Server.
We'll talk over video with Wendy about GPAHE's mission, her history as an activist, and the kinds of things we can do to get involved or support their work.
We will have some questions ready, but we also want to ask yours! You can leave a question as a comment on this post, or you can bring it with you to the AMA on Tuesday.
About GPAHE
GPAHE was on of FTH's supported orgs for 2025. GPAHE believes that to protect and advance human rights, particularly those of marginalized and underrepresented communities, build inclusive democracies, and solve global challenges, we must expose and counter the far-right actors and movements that undermine those values. GPAHE exposes and disrupts racist and other hateful transnational movements, holds tech companies accountable, advocates for policies to eradicate hate and far-right extremism, and builds multinational coalitions to protect communities.

Bingo time!
Back in mid-february the @fthaction blog set up a bingo card generator with a bunch of activities to help give direction to our urges to Do Something. There's a list of about 35 activities from which the 25 for each bingo card are randomly pulled. I got my card, and have been looking for opportunities to mark them off. Some are things I already do or have been interested in doing. Others are new to me. Either way, I appreciate the nudge :D You can get your own individualized bingo card here, and join the fun!

My progress so far:
1. Signed up for the News Literacy newsletter(s) 2. Signed up to assist with the Citizen Archivist Project 5. Attended the AMA with Kat Colvin of ProjectID/Spread the Vote 7. OTW Open Doors 17. Subscribed to both propublica and whatthefuckjusthappenedtoday 19. Regularly volunteer with the friends of the library 22. Attended the 4/5 Hands Off protest in my city
Next up I'ma see if I can knock out 16 and 23. And I'm going to look for a community fridge ... there aren't any 'in my area', but there are some where the boychild goes to college so the next time I'm there ...
Yes, I'm aiming for a blackout. No, I don't have a competitive streak, per se. I do, however, have a bit of a completionist streak.

Activism bingo players: we've got some fun graphics you can use to mark off squares on your card!
Whether you're planning to kick things into gear for bingo week (starting tomorrow!) or if you're going to take it more slowly, these can be a fun way to mark your progress.

bingo week fuck yeah
I am doing the thing! And in order to keep track of it myself and to make sure I don't fall off the wagon midweek, I am posting my @fthaction bingo card here:
My goal for this week is to get a strikethrough along the top line. (I went to one of the Hands Off! protests downtown today, so even though it's a few days early, I am gonna give myself the top right square.) But I am also going to make it a personal goal to black out the entire card by the end of May.
Some of these are things I do regularly; others are things that are on my radar and which I mean to do frequently, but only get around to doing very occasionally or not at all; some are things I've never done at all. But I like the idea of all of these, and I am going to try to use this card to push myself.
(Each card is different, btw! They're randomized, and there are about 35 items. Here's the direct link if you want to get your own)

Let's play Bingo!
A few months ago, as part of our blitz rollout of FTHA during the leadup to this year's auction, we shared our Activism Bingo Cards.
Now that FTH2025 has come and gone, we're getting serious....
.... WE'RE PLAYING BINGO.
The week of April 7th-13th is our first-ever BINGO WEEK here at FTHA. If you've been sort of halfway meaning to do something -- to find a way to help, to join up with others who are already doing the work, to counteract your own despair -- consider this your sign from the universe. And luckily, this sign comes with some organizational structure and a community to do it with!
How to play:
get yourself a bingo card, if you haven't already.
strategize. Which of the items on your card would be easy to knock out? How close do those items get you to bingo -- and what other tasks would you need to complete to get there?
Use the next couple of days to gear up for the more challenging tasks. This might mean making accountability plans with a friend, or procuring information or supplies, or just psyching yourself up. Whatever it is, you can do it!
Once bingo week starts, post about the things you've done! You can post a picture of your card with one or more tasks crossed off, or just make a text post in which you talk about what you did. If you tag us (fthaction) in the post, we'll reblog it! Be sure not to include sensitive information in these reports!
Tell us when you've hit bingo! We'll reblog that post too -- and we hope you'll use it to share a story about the most rewarding thing you've done along the way.
You can blacklist the tag "activism bingo" if you want to... but wouldn't it be more fun to play along instead?

We have already collected a few of these! You can find them on our blog by looking through the #activist stories tag.
calling progressive activists on tumblr!
We at @fandomtrumpshate are relaunching our action blog, which aims to help people get involved in progressive causes in practical, concrete ways. We've got thousands of fans who have been raising money for a host of progressive causes over the past eight years, and we know that many of these fans would like to go beyond fundraising to start doing some of the work themselves.
Making that leap can be hard, though, which is why we'd like to offer some examples. We're hoping to share stories -- your stories -- about how you got involved in activism and what it means to you.
If you're willing to share your story, please make a post that answers these questions (or some of them; no need to answer all of them!) and tag us -- @fthaction -- and we'll reblog it.
when did you first get involved in activist/community work, and what motivated you to do it?
how did you get started? how did you find your niche?
what was something you struggled with early in your activist work, and how did you learn to manage/overcome it?
what's a setback you've faced, and how did you make it through?
what is the thing you're most proud of?
what are the unexpected joys or benefits that activist work has brought into your life?
what's the one thing you really want to say to people who are thinking of getting involved?

Introducing Activism Bingo Cards!
Do you enjoy crossing things off lists?
Does gamification help you trick yourself into doing things you’ve been halfway meaning to do anyway?
Do you just like themed bingo cards?
Then our activism bingo cards might be just what you’re looking for!
We’ve put together a varied list of tasks – some of which are entry-level, some of which are more of a stretch – to help you challenge yourself to grow as an activist. A handful of these items have embedded links to external resources that will clarify what they’re about or will help you get started.
If you get a bingo – or even if you cross out a single square in a way that you’re proud of – we’d love to hear about it! Make a post on tumblr and tag us (@fthaction) and we’ll reblog it. (Be sure that post does not contain any sensitive information! Please be as vague as you need to be to avoid creating a paper trail.)
Get your very own individualized bingo card here.
