I remember the first time I played DMC 5 (completely blind) I was like "lol why is he saying that he's glad to see her look so well, he has no idea who she is". I guess the phrasing threw me off, specifically. And now it's one of my favorite moments, because it means that Vergil's human side remembers what Lady went through in DMC 3 (and them teaming up against Arkham when he finds out he was deceived)

Something about how post DMC4 Nero, after meeting the love of his life and finally accepting his own self, dresses more punk and with his own style. He doesn’t wear the order’s symbols, or the coat style, instead has his own coat with a hood, comfortable sweaters and a hairstyle that doesn’t hide his face.

It’s such a great transition seeing that after being an angry teenager that life gets better. He likes edgy music and punk clothing and he loves his girlfriend and he can be himself.

Nero's Devil Trigger Horns

Here I am, back from the dead and posting about something in a fandom I've never written about before.

I've never really liked the horns for Nero's DT in DMCV:

They looked too much like the horns of the various Angelo-type demons we see in the games, and to me it felt as if one of Vergil's worst experiences had somehow influenced his son's DT. A little cruel, honestly.

But out of nowhere, I suddenly thought of deciduous hoof capsules, a.k.a. those things Mother Natures puts on the hooves of gestating foals so they don't injure their mothers on the way out. These things:

Little soft keratin booties that can either slowly flake off or shed all at once, depending on circumstances. Am I the only one who kind of sees a resemblance?

Yeah, I doubt Capcom did this on purpose. But it's cute to think maybe Nero's DT still has his protective horn capsules because he's the baby of the group. Dante and Vergil had to fly the nest waaaaay too early, so they shed theirs much earlier than he did. But Nero? Perhaps when Nero thinks he's taking his badass demonic form, Vergil's head is going "That is a baby. You are beating up a bab--okay, you are being beaten up BY a baby, good job me, best dad ever."

Just possible headcanon things that'll probably never show up anywhere.
