The Regrettes - Hey Now (Feel Your Feelings Fool!)
“Hey now
How are you?
I want to know your life story so tell me everything you do
Oh, hey now!
You’re so much fun
Hey now,
You’re as bright as the sun.”
If you haven’t heard the new The Regrettes yet, you’re in for a mighty fine treat. The critically acclaimed punk rock and garage pop quartet bring us a wealth of their spunky, punchy personality on California Friends, a gnarled chugging, feisty rioting indie rock treat that’s loads of fun. We bop along to the rowdy anthem, engrossed by its carefree video. California Friends’ larger than life attitude and swashbuckling melody are so epic that they even remind us of Bleachers’ anthemic tunes, but with a bit of Best Coast’s rhythmic guitar lilt and vintage charm. By the time the song is done, we’re not only dizzily jubilant, but we also find ourselves wishing we were “California friends” with this LA crew. Though The Regrettes have been on tour a lot since the release of their 2017 debut Feel Your Feelings Fool! and this year’s Attention Seeker EP (and by all accounts, they’ve been amazing, so we’re sad to have missed out on them), they’re hitting the road again today as part of Alt Nation’s Advanced Placement Tour.
