Transformation!
How could Cybertronians transform?
Tumblr media
This skill is their kinds characterizing feature, which defines the rest of their biology, so it will be hard to describe it!
But one thing we can understand is how could their skin/outer cover change colour and texture!
To describe that I will have a look at an octopus and its skin!
Tumblr media
So… Octopuses can change their skin texture and colour practically without boundaries! They use it to camouflage themselves in between the rocks.
So how do they do that?
First “layer” :
Tumblr media
First thing that allows octopuses to change colour are pigment-filled cells, which the octopus can stretch with their muscles.
Those cells have 3 pigments: Red, Yellow and Brown. When octopus wants to show off some of those colours they stretch the cells with muscles(its like stretching a baloon with paint in it-the more you stretch the more you see the colour)
Second “layer” :
Tumblr media
But what if octopus wants to change colour beyond Red, Yellow or Brown?
This is why under those first cells octopuses have reflective cells which reflect different light, like Blue for example.
Of course octopus can mix all those colours showing some off more and some less.
Third “layer” :
Tumblr media
The last element of octopuses skin is a reflective layer below the reflective cells. This layer reflects all the light from around the octopus
Extras:
What is even more interesting, octopus doesnt have to think about changing anything!
They have light sensitive genes in their skin soo… THEY SEE WITH THEIR SKIN!
That means that an octopus can change colour and texture because it wants to or automatically JUST LIKE WE BLINK.
Could Cybertronians do that?
Why not? That would explain some of their skills, but Total change of shape…? Not yet…

I trust him in ways that are completely foreign to me. He cares as much about my well-being as his own, maybe more. That kind of connection is the stuff fairytales are made of. ❤
