My heart is still melting at how Song Joong Ki’s still listening to the Vincenzo OST on repeat in his car, esp Ombra mai fu, Un diavolo scaccia l’altro, I’m Always By Your Side and Adrenaline, and how he’s also suffering Vincenzo withdrawal with us, rewatching episodes and flipping through the photo book.
It’s also so sweet how Jeon Yeo Been has been posting throwbacks to Vincenzo on her Instagram, sharing memes and videos with us more than a week after the last episode.
If the ending wasn’t exactly happy, at least the cast and crew were happy while filming it 🥲

Potential storylines for development in Vincenzo Season 2:
1. A shift in the underbelly of Vincenzo’s dark mafia world linked to a new case in Korea brings V back to his motherland once more. By this time, with the power of the Guillotine file and Agent An and Cho and Director Tae’s help, V can no longer be traced to the villains’ deaths and can safely return.
2. Possible connection to Vincenzo’s biological father later down the road. He could be anyone and anything! Which leaves room for any kind of storyline. I personally think it’d be interesting for V to connect to his young persona and discover the possibility of another kind of life. Or if he realises his own father is a villain. How will someone like V deal with this?
3. Which leads me to: Vincenzo’s heightened internal conflict between the prospect of having a normal life by washing his hands off of murder and blood, and his built-in mafia instincts and mafia-related history. Seeing his own evil reflected in his father’s might just put everything under a new perspective.
4. Chayoung’s mum and her past with her. More insight into her internal world and how her past villainous partnership with Vincenzo has coloured/tainted the way she fights for justice in her work, and how loving someone like V has impacted her.
5. Chayenzo’s relationship and how their LDR has affected them. Also possible development on what it means to be both partners in work and life. Major potential for more iconic moments and catwalks.
6. Since Geumga plaza is still very much intact thanks to Chayoung’s iron-clad protection, we can see how they might’ve changed and their reactions to V being back in their lives again.
I know that the prospect of Vincenzo season 2 lies very much in the hands of writer Park Jaebum, because he holds the keys to the world and can do whatever he wants. But all I’m saying is if a pigeon and his crew can save Vincenzo when he was literally at the precipice of death, anything is possible. So if ever inspiration hits and he has something more to say, I feel like where we left off in the story won’t make his job an impossible task.
#vincenzo#chayenzo#hong cha young#jeon yeo bin#song joong ki#still wondering what the pocket watch and byebye balloon was for#maybe pjb abandoned his former happy ending for a more open one?#can’t get over the sadness of the ending#the worst endings are when they provide no certainty about the fates of our beloved characters

Still thinking about how literally EVERYONE, whether villain or otherwise, had already known and sensed that Vincenzo and Chayoung were special to each other. Hanseok kidnapped Chayoung knowing full well Vincenzo would risk everything, even his own life, to make sure she was safe, and that he would not be in the right frame of mind to devise a backup plan. Hanseo also distracted Vincenzo with "Lawyer Hong Chayoung!" because he knew it'd work, and no one expressed surprise or shock when Vincenzo ran to Chayoung and embraced her tenderly when she came to see him off.

In the same way, Vincenzo and Chayoung had probably already sensed each other’s love since a long time ago, not by grandiose expressions of affection, but in the slow but steady undercurrent of deep love and companionship both shared so intimately every single day. Everyone could see it, even the villains, because the quietest love is always the loudest.
That’s why when they shared their first real kiss on those steps a year later, it felt like they had already shared that kiss a million times over.

I don't know if somebody highlighted this already, but besides the kiss, this series of scenes is my favorite scenes from the final episodes. It convinced me that they love each other and that they share a mutual respect for each other's priorities, and their characterization is consistent until the end. This will be quite long so bear with me.
Below we see how Cha Young made Vincenzo promise to not call her when he's finished. She doesn't want to burden him. She doesn't want to be the one who will hinder his plans. She's the one who understands him; she knows he blamed himself all night for what happened. She wants to support him. And that for me is so lovely and bittersweet at the same time.
After Vincenzo finished his 24-hr task of killing punishing Myung Hee and Han Seok, we were greeted by this scene. Vincenzo wants to call her. He can't stand the thought of leaving without her knowing. But he made a promise and we've seen from the start that he always does what she says. Her words, to him, are like words written in stone. They both know that if Cha Young asked him to stay, he will. And no matter how much Cha Young wants him to stay, she respected his priorities.
In the end, he kept his promise to not call her. Because she said so. Because he, too, doesn't want to burden her.
And just when all thought that they will not see each other before Vincenzo gets to leave, there goes Cha Young, just like how she initiates the first move all those previous episodes. She came to see him before he leaves.
She needs to see him not to stop him, but to support him, to let him know that she's fine and she will be strong even without him. And we also saw this on their final scene together. Vincenzo, waiting for Cha Young to signal him that it's okay; Cha Young letting him know that she will be fine.
What they have is a love that transcends all understanding. And it pains me that this is the situation they both are in. I agree with Joongki, this is not a happy ending. It is sad, and I understand him. It is bittersweet. How the hell do you live every single waking day of your life without that one person who loves and understands you for who you are and whom you cherish the most? Vincenzo has a life to live in Malta and Cha Young has her own life to live in Korea. And can we commend both of them for being so strong?
And you know what else is sad? It's that Vincenzo and Cha Young could not have what they have individually, together right now. It's like trying to merge two different worlds and one has to sacrifice. Eventually though, I know they would reach a compromise. And this what I like to believe - that eventually when all else is done, they can be together once again.

Wanted to point out that the first time Vincenzo used informal language with Chayoung was in this scene:
Vincenzo got jealous and bombarded her with all sorts of questions about Chayoung’s get-together, first in their normal formal language:

Then eventually for the last two questions, in informal language, in full boyfriend mode:

Vincenzo has always used formal language with Chayoung till now (albeit the lowest level of formal language), but now after the airport scene, he’s so whipped he doesn’t even bother to hide it. It also goes to show Chayoung is really the closest person to him now and he’s fully admitted to himself that this woman has broken down all his defenses.
Kinda poetic too how these were the last words he said to her before she got shot, being his shield and wall.

Did anyone else notice the sound of a noose tightening little by little in the background when Hanseok came to find Hanseo in his office and pointed a gun at him? It was like Hanseo was once again back in a metaphoric chokehold thanks to the tyranny of his psychopathic brother, symbolised back then with his high collars held up by pins and gelled hair.
The music and sound effects combined with the stellar cinematography seriously make the show.

That sound Vincenzo made as Chayoung collapsed in his arms. Like a wounded animal. Like he had been shot himself. The way his hands desperately grasped at every part of her that was slipping away before his eyes. Episode 19 was the first time I saw actual terror in Vincenzo’s eyes.
