Happy National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day!
The Project
1 out of 6 Americans goes hungry every year.
You can change this by donating jars of peanut butter or jelly to benefit Catholic Charities and the Light House Mission.
Why Peanut Butter
It's packed with protein
It has a long shelf-life (2 years!)
It meets most religious restrictions on food
 Why Now?
When you think of food drives, you normally think of the holiday season, right? Bingo. Less donations occur during spring and summer months
When the economy suffers, overall donations suffer too
Americans go nuts over peanut butter. Like, they actually go crazy.

Snowed In!
Tumblr media
Oh no! FPC has been bombarded with all of this crazy snow!
We've been buried under this heavy white stuff and the TV keeps cutting in and out.
Sigh.
Well, in case you're like us here at FPC, here are some things to keep you busy.
Baking:
Did you know that Peanut Butter and Jam Slam is going on? Well, it is and if you're wondering what people could do with all that peanut butter, here are some recipes.
First, you can make a classic PBJ. White bread, peanut butter, jelly, peanut butter, and white bread.
Or, you can make Peanut Butter cookies.courtesy of SimplyRecipes.com!
eanut Butter Cookies Recipe
Add to shopping lis
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 egg
1 1/4 cup flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
METHOD
1 Beat the butter until creamy, 2 minutes. Add the sugars, beat for 2 more minutes. Mix in the peanut butter and egg. Mix together the dry ingredients - flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Stir the dry ingredients into the sugar butter mixture.
2 Wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate at least 3 hours.
3 Preheat oven to 375°F. Shape dough into 1 1/4 inch balls. Place about 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten in crisscross pattern with a fork. Bake until light brown, 9 to 10 minutes. Cool on baking sheets for a minute; transfer to rack to cool completely.
For chewier cookies, bake at 300°F for 15 minutes.
Cookies not your thing?
Try peanut butter pie from foodnetwork.com
Ingredients Crust: 25 whole chocolate sandwich cookies, such as Oreos 4 tablespoons butter, melted Filling: 1 cup creamy peanut butter One 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar One 8-ounce package whipped topping, such as Cool Whip, thawed Directions For the crust: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Crush the cookies until they're fine crumbs. Pour the melted butter over the top and stir with a fork to combine. Press into a pie pan and bake until set, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. For the filling: Beat the peanut butter with the cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Add in the thawed whipped topping and beat until smooth, scraping the sides as needed. Pour the filling into the crust, evening out the top with a knife or spatula. Chill for at least an hour before serving. Warning: This is ultra, ultra-rich. Cut small slivers-your guests will thank you!
After you finish baking, drop off your delicious treats to a local charity! It's fun and rewarding and a good way to break free from your cabin fever!

It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time!
It's been a while FPC-ers, but don't worry , we've got news for you!
Did you know that 1 out of 6 people in America goes hungry every year?
Did you know that 5 in  6 can help change that?
Again, Do Something has another amazing campaign that the FPC is going to partake in! It's the Peanut Butter and Jam Slam! It's a massive collection of peanut butter and or jelly for those in need.
Now, you may be wondering why peanut butter? Well, look at these awesome reasons:
It's packed with protein
It has a long shelf-life (2 years!)
It meets most religious restrictions on food
And now you be wondering, well why collect these items now?
Well Do Something Says:
When you think of food drives, you normally think of the holiday season, right? Bingo. Less donations occur during spring and summer months
When the economy suffers, overall donations suffer too
Americans go nuts over peanut butter. Like, they actually go crazy.
It's true, Americans love peanut butter. It's the equivalent to Nutella in Europe! And, even though you're down on your luck, you don't have to sacrifice your religious dietary restrictions! It's a true super food that keeps life going!
I know that I met my best friend over a jar of peanut butter in fifth grade. We had two spoons and one jar, and two happy peanut butter filled bellies!
What's the perk of Peanut Butter and Jam Slam?
Well, for every ten jars you collect, you are entered to win a scholarship! So, not only are you doing good, but you're gaining potential money to pay off those college bills!
Want to be a part of our awesome campaign?
Join us March 19 - May 14 and start collecting those jars!
Let us know how your collections go or, if you want to join us, contact us!
See ya guys!

Be My Valentine
We all like getting those little heart shaped boxes full of chocolates that have odd fillings, but not everyone has a special someone to share that candy with. This Valentine 's Day FPC will be making Valentines for the Lighthouse Mission, spreading our love to the people in our community. Why Valentines? Well, you know that warm feeling you get when someone cares about you? Full Plate wants everyone to have that feeling on a day when it feels kind of crummy to be alone. On February 10th we are going to finish making our cards and add the cute little bows to our goodie bags. We'll drop our gifts off on the by13th and on the 14th they will be passed out to all who come for dinner. Want to join in the fun? Well break out all of your craft supplies and make your cards! Pass them out to local shelters, or even nursing homes. Make someone your Valentine.

Happy New Year!
2013 is finally here! We rang the bells, be banged the pots, we dropped the ball, we kissed our loves - 2013 is here for 365 days and we're going to make the most we can with this limited amount of time!
It's day one, and I know that at the beginning so naturally we go hard. Unfortunately, we also tend to fade away at times. It's just human nature. So to keep us going, here are some quotes that you can use when you're losing steam.
"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined." ~ Henry David Thoreau
"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
"By being yourself, you put something wonderful in the world that was not there before." ~ Edwin Elliot
"Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they may lead." ~ Louisa May Alcot
These quotes are some of our favorites, and we hope that they keep you going! Don't ever stop, let the spirit of the new year last through out these short twelve months. May your energy be used constructively and may you be happy while you make a change.
Happy New Year,
The FPC

Should old acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind ?
News Year's is upon us. Today is the day 2012 comes to close and we'll return to school not knowing how to write 2013 on the tops of our papers. It's brought pain, it's brought happiness. It created hope and it created uncertainty. And now here we stand on the brink of a new year, wondering if we will be able to handle what it has to throw at us.
Like anyone, Full Plate has our own resolutions. We hope to see a measurable change in our community. We are going to promote hunger awareness and make people more conscientious about the community that surrounds them. We hope to have more projects that benefit the Wabash Valley. We're going to have three times the amount of fun we had in 2012.  In 2013 we're going to make a change, no if's, and's or but's about it.
Let's do it! Let's make 2013 be our year to shine and to be an example for all youth-driven organizations. We are capable of being amazing, no doubt about it. We are driven enough to be a front runner with other groups. We may be small, but our hearts are full with good intentions.
Thank you all for an amazing year! We wouldn't be who we are without you. We wish you all a happy, healthy, and blessed New Year!

Reflecting On an Amazing Year
It's three days until the new year and here at Full Plate we have a lot to reflect on. We began earlier in 2012 with high hopes and a handful of people. We wanted to host a concert benefit with national performing artists, but being a young group we were unable to meet the goal. While it's easy to be discouraged, we had to remember that things take time.
So we began smaller projects such as food drives, clothing collections, and raising awareness around the Wabash Valley. We made ourselves known in our area and promoted ourselves through media outlets. We've served and volunteered at soup kitchens, met with the people we are helping, and have made meals.
We were able to keep in contact with amazing people such as singer/songwriter Justin Nozuka, who donated signed merchandise; rocker Will Black who promoted our cause to his fans, and Emmy winning writer Brian Meehl who also donated to our cause. Without amazing supporters like these men, what would FPC be?
The Full Plate Campaign has had an amazing first year, and we hope to continue with our progress. 2013 is going to be the year of FPC! Are you ready for it?

Bake-A-Palooza
It's time to break out Grandma's secret chocolate chip cookie recipe and crank that oven to 350 degrees, it's Bake-A-Palooza time! On January 13 The FPC will be hosting a Bake-A-Palooza and we are encouraging you to take part and dish out those sweet treats, too!
Why a Bake-A-Palooza? Can goods and entire meals are crazy important for soup kitchens, but sometimes it's nice to break away from the mundane and throw a cookie  in the mix. Or a cake. Or brownies. Or even a pie.
You can be creative with this project. Go out and buy sprinkles, frosting or food coloring to give your treats some flare. And don't do this alone, recruit your friends and family. The more people you have, the more you bake AND the more you have fun.
Not much of a bake from scratch person? You can buy pre-made cookies that you can just pop in the oven. When they're done, your only job is to stack them in traveling containers or if you're feeling adventurous, you can decorate them and them store them away.
Now you have the choice when storing cookies whether or not to just put them in a Rubbermaid container, or putting them in individual bags. It all depends on the quantity and your personal preference. If you made hundreds of treats, it would be in your best interest to deliver them in simple containers. If you made a few treats you can put them in plastic baggies, two to a bag.
What next? Take pictures and document this awesome occasion. Deliver them to local soup kitchens and charities. Serve them to people if you're up to it! Be involved, be proactive, be awesome!
So, on January 13, spill the beans and tell us what happened when you unleashed your inner Paula Deen!

Audio
Carry On by fun. is an amazingly inspirational song and here at FPC it's what we blast when we're in need of a boost. It's cheerful yet poignant. We consider it to be our anthem of sorts.
We thought today while we're trapped in our headquarters because snow decided to pile up outside our door, we would share "our" song with all of you FPC-ers!

Teens for Jeans
I love the way you hug my curves and flatter my redonkulous booty, but Levis you are just too clingy. It's time for you to meet someone new, someone who could benefit from your charm and compliments. Have you considered Teens for Jeans?
You're totally ready to meet someone new, consider it a jeans dating service. It's really simple! I'll take you to Aerospostale starting January 16th and donate you. The people at Aeropostale will treat you nice, make sure you're healthy, and then take you to local charities so that others can meet you, try you on and take you home. And what do I get out of it besides knowing that you're with someone who will love you more than I could? Aeropostale will give me 25% off my next purchase of jeans for every pair I donate. I'll make new jeans, jeans that make me feel confident all over again.
Now, I know what you're thinking: what happens if Aero jeans aren't my thing? Well, I can opt not to take the coupon and just feel good about the donation, or I could take my coupon and give it to someone else. I could even buy a new pair of jeans and donate them to the cause! There are so many possibilities out there! I'm actually feeling really adventurous, Levis! I am going to get my community involved and my school!
How? Well, I'm going to sign up on DoSomething.org and they'll give all the information I need. If I get five people, including myself, to sign up for my school, Do Something will send me a banner to hang and promote my cause. I'll canvass my neighborhood and pass out flyer's to get the news out. I'll list drop off sites and instructions so that no one is confused.
And what other benefits are there?
Well, the school that collects the most jeans across the entire country will receive a party from Do Something, $10,000 for your school, and Aeropostale hoodies for you entire school! Awesome? No. AMAZEBALLS! This is an amazing opportunity for me to give back to my community, and even if I don't win at least I'll know that I helped someone.
So, Levis, it's time to split up. This may be a permanent goodbye for us, but it's a whole new beginning for you to meet someone who will appreciate your caress. Think about it, it's awesome, trust me. I promise you.
