rhys, US, they/them. Multi fandom trash. Guardian to two cats (Percival, Won Ton). 5E D&D Dungeon Master and occasional adventurer (usually a tank). Chaotic queer. Bookworm, writer, avid gamer, artist. Theme park lover. Thedas and Elder Scrolls lore historian. Former scenic design artist and cosplayer. Force sensitive and ready to fight. Alchemist bodyguard-for-hire at ren faires. User name is a reference to how many times I almost died but … just … didn’t. I will reblog approximately 900 things within 3 seconds then disappear back into my cave for 14 hrs, like some kind of cross between a gatling gun and vampire, but for, like, fandom content.

I can't articulate how utterly inhumane it is that we've not only normalized, but valorized, sleep deprivation. We treat it like an achievement.
Sleep deprivation increases your risk for a myriad of serious illnesses like heart disease, kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke.
And that's just to name a few.
Some of the most important cellular work we do all day happens while we're sleeping. When we don't get enough quality sleep and rest, our cells literally can't effectively repair themselves.
It literally damages every system in our bodies.
Capitalism lies.
Getting enough sleep is actually one of the most meaningfully "productive" things we can do.

Art forgery is the best crime tbh. It requires absolutely incredible artistic talent, technical skill, and attention to detail to make convincing fakes. Does anyone get hurt from it? No! The only people who suffer for it are the extremely wealthy who want the prestige of having original paintings in their own homes. It’s full of international intrigue and mystery. Perfect.

hello derin i wrote an essay analysing your short story "how to escape the well" for my ap english literature class and i got a very high grade on it but also my teacher was amazed by your story, and is considering teaching it as part of her english classes so that's fun! she kept saying how good it was and how much complexity and nuance it had. thought you might want to know that a random canadian hs english class may be taught your work :)
Fantastic, it's very important for teenagers to be permanently altered by a fucked up short story in English class. Congrats on your grade!

Coolest thing about lord of the rings? The king of horses shows up. It appears he is no different from all other horses

Knitting! Nope gotta untangle string first
Crochet! After I untangle some string
Weaving - untangle lots of string
Cross stitch - hold up, string is tangled and I am full of rage
Sewing: string tangled into tiny knots of hatred

Fun fact: There are lots of free fiber arts books and patterns at the library. But watch out.
[Video Description: A woman browses books on a library shelf. Text box reads: POV: When browsing the craft books section turns into...
She spots a small ball of white yarn on the ground and picks it up. She notices that it's unwound so she starts following the yarn, winding it as she goes. The video speeds up as she travels through the stacks until she comes across a cardboard Baker and Taylor box propped up by a knitting needle, with the full skein of yarn, more knitting needles, and knitting books underneath. The box drops with a clack and the video cuts to the same woman sitting on a bench in the library, a knitting project underway in her hands, surrounded by a loom, a bag of yarn and a crocheted unicorn, a completed blanket, and open craft books. Text box reads: Obsession...?
She looks around with mild consternation, then shrugs and continues knitting. The end card has the Lake County Public Library logo on a black background. White text appears as if typed and reads Don't say we didn't warn you. A small pink ball of yarn appears in the lower corner, its trailing thread twisting into a heart. /description]

When I was growing up and complained something sucked and was difficult (school, paperwork, etiquette rules, etc.) a lot of the time adults told me “noooo no it’s not difficult! It’s easy if you put your mind to it.” Or maybe a kinder “nooooo don’t say that, you can do it!”
And setting aside the fact that I had executive function issues I wasn’t aware of at the time, I think what I usually needed to hear was “yeah. yeah it does suck and it is difficult. but it’s important that you do it anyway.”
Like yeah in the moment it WAS difficult to learn my multiplication tables or to get college scholarships or to apply for jobs. It DID suck a lot but I did learn to do math, and go to college, and get a job. And I just wish somebody had told me that’s how it would feel to look back — not like “that was actually easy and fun once I tried it,” but to say “wow, that sucked. but I did it and I’m glad I did.”
