This is also what I do.... The second annual Hirsch award. This award is given in honor of Dr. Erwin Hirsch’s memory, the first Chief of Trauma Services at BCH/BMC. This award is given to an individual who contributes to the care of trauma patients here at BMC in an exemplary fashion. We are happy to announce this year’s winner is Rusti Pendleton, the Trauma Response VIAP person. Rusti responds to all gun shot and stab wound incidents 24hours/7 days per week. Rusti embodies family centered care as he focuses on communication with the victim and their family members following these critical incidents. He often arrives at the time of the ambulance if not before from incident alerts he receives from the police. He meets with the victim and provides trauma informed support as he awaits family members to arrive.
