NOTES: OMORI and Persona 5 are my favorite RPG games and I wanted to combine them together somehow. I saw SO many parallels between Sunny and Futaba (both of which are my favorite characters in their respective games and I highly relate to) and I thought: What if I make a Persona 5 OMORI AU?So here we are. I have some of the plot planned out, as well as the cast of Persona 5 characters who will be in this fanfic and replacing the roles of the OMORI cast. I'll try to stick with a weekly or every other week update schedule because I really, really want to see this AU through to the end. With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy!
Within inescapable darkness, two girls clutch each other. With each passing second, a heavy, cacophony static noise grows.
One of the girls, her hair tied in a high ponytail, gently stroked the back of a long-haired girl. Beside them were discarded glasses, tiny shattered pieces of the lens scattered on the ground.
"We're going to be okay..." The ponytailed girl whispered, swiping a loose strand of the other girl’s hair behind her ear.
The despairing cries of the long-haired girl resounded around them. Her body violently shook as she buried herself deeper into the other girl's body in a desperate attempt to be as close as possible.
"No matter what happens, we'll always have each other. So promise me that we'll be together forever..."
The ponytailed girl’s voice was beginning to be drowned out by the droning noise.
The darkness dripping from above was like rain, pouring steadily at first then soon crashing down, filling the empty. It came up to their knees, then their chests, and finally their necks. The ponytailed girl felt the other girl begin to panic against her, gasping for air, straining to keep her head above the water.
"I’ll protect you. Nothing’s going to hurt you."
Then, the darkness swallowed them.
Welcome to White Space. You've been living here for as long as you can remember.
Alibaba languidly blinked herself awake. She made a loud yawning sound, snuggling her favorite fuzzy blanket one last time before pushing it away and standing up.
There was no end to White Space, at least, that's what Alibaba believed. The further she wandered away from the black square border in the center, the red hands would eventually find her and pull her back. White Space was an enigma she hoped to solve one day. Even so, it will always be her home.
Morgana, her black cat, brushed against her leg. She bent down to gently pull at his cheeks, the cat making a noise of protest.
He then meowed, "Waiting for life to change?"
Alibaba scooped him up in her arms, eyes flickering to her open laptop nearby. She sat in front of the screen crisscrossed, tilting it to a good angle and turning it on with Morgana purring on her lap. There were only two applications against her monochrome wallpaper: the trash bin and journal. Simplistic and easy to navigate. She clicked on the trash bin first, finding it empty. After that, she clicked on the journal, the entries saying she either spent time in White Space or saw her friends. Everything was as it should be.
Her attention shifted from the screen to a pile of stuff on the floor. She could just make out some comics, books, and her DS with a pouch of game cartridges sitting on its side. However, for some reason, the DS never seemed to work. It always displayed a black screen when she powered it on. Weird, but it didn't bother her that much. She was much more interested in the book she began reading a few days ago simply titled, "Cognition".
She drew Morgana close one last time, nuzzling his fur before he stepped off her lap.
The last item in her room nearby was a desk lamp. She bent down, staring into the pitch-black lightbulb. Even though it was impossible to tell, the darkness within seemed to be darker than usual.
A black door behind the lamp towered over Alibaba. Suddenly, an idea popped into her head: She wanted to see her friends.
Then, the floor beneath Alibaba shook for a moment and she heard a heavy clang noise in the distance as if something had dropped from the sky. Curiously, Alibaba ran around the outside of the black edges, almost tripping over the long wooden handle of a shovel. Strength was something she didn't have much of and she struggled a bit with lifting it up. After a bit, she got the end of the shovel over her shoulder, sighing in relief.
She faced the black door once again. After a moment, she twisted the doorknob and entered a room full of vibrant colors.
