Month 12: Final Project & Thesis Mastery Journal
Goal: Explore ideas for a blog. • Strategy: Some of best blogs in public relations (Home, 2019).
Goal: Publish a blog. • Strategy: Blogs are a way to get your brand out in the world (Hoffmann, 2019).
Goal: Write an exceptional thesis paper. • Strategy: Topics for a thesis paper in public relations (Advertising and Public Relations, 2019).
At first, I was worried that this was going to be a hard month and I would not survive. However, I made it! I love to write so I was looking forward to this month most. Luckily, it was just pulling it all together and making the puzzle complete. I have learned a lot about writing and a lot about me personally.
I have learned to stop doubting myself. I have learned that knowing how to do research is very helpful. There were times I really was not sure how to express myself and research played a part in helping me. I do not like talking about myself but having to introduce myself and give some background has put me out of my comfort zone and I overcame the fear.
This month, I have overcome obstacles like deadlines that I was afraid I could not make, revising a paper that I was not sure how, and most of all completing this program. It has been an amazing month.
Honestly, there will be many assignments I have done in this program that I will never use but it was nice to see that I am able to do the impossible. I am so excited to see what the future holds and what career I will find. My dream would be to be in public relations at a children’s hospital and one that is close but I am willing to relocate for that dream.

REPUTATION MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES- Month 10
As I am getting close to the end, anxiety has gotten strong. My motivation has lessened, but I see my eye on the prize. I have said it from the beginning, these courses are nothing like what I expected when I started the program.
When I started my goals and expectations looked so different. Here I am, learning something new.
At the beginning:
• Goal: Do not lose who I am and don’t damage my reputation. • Strategy: Remember that our reputation is all that we have so we do not want it to be trashed (Doorley, & Garcia, 2015).
• Goal: Be able to stay positive even in the most difficult situations.
•Strategy: Being negative leads to losing clients and much more (Sickler, 2019).
• Goal: Learn to stay strong and stay away from negativity. • Strategy: Others see how you behave, and it influences their thoughts on you. It is your responsibility to show management skills (Kim & Park, 2009).
After Month 10:
Each month, my goal is to succeed but also take away something from the course and sometimes that something is small. I have never even thought about a crisis manual, crisis communication, or crisis anything except that problems will arise and when it does a plan needs to be in place.
I have achieved knowledge of a correct way to deal with a crisis. My first instinct would be to deal with it with emotions. Now I have a better understanding of why emotions do not belong in a crisis plan. I also have better concepts to use when dealing with a crisis and why it is important to know ahead of time what employees are responsible for what. When a crisis happens that is not the time to come up with a plan.

Mastery: Month 8 Media Relations
Mastery: Media Relations (Month 8)
What I expected month 8th in Media Relations to be is nothing like what I expected. I knew that I would eventually have to do projects and videos, but I do not think I really knew what all I was getting into.
When I started my goals and expectations looked a lot different.
At the beginning:
·      Goal: Understand what I need to know about the media audience. Strategy: Media builds a strong leader, communication between employees and marketing (Jiang, Luo, & Kulemeka 2017)
·      Goal: Discover new ideas that I have never explored before.
Strategy: Using different avenues besides the typical television (Crain, 2002).
·      Goal: Learn to adapt to new ideas or technology that I am not use to. Strategy: Knowing information evolves to help make the industry better (James, 2019).
Now, my main goal is to get through this class and learn the new skills to help me in the future. Honestly, this month has been the most challenging for me. I am usually up for a good challenge, but I feel this month was a setback.
I have learned different terms used in making videos and learned what a b-roll is and means. It is difficult to see where knowing this will help me in my future because I want to do more press releases and speeches. However, I have got more practice on writing press releases and editing my work. It is harder to edit my work versus editing other people’s work. Even though, some aspects of this course may not pertain to me, knowledge is power and may help me to help another colleague down the road.

Mastery: MCA (Month 7)
“My first post ever on here”
Before I really knew what I was getting into, this was my goal:
MARKET AND CONSUMER RESEARCH ANALYSIS (Month 1)
• Goal: Prepare myself for how reports are done. • Strategy: Most reports are done now through technology instead of by hand. Most people do not realize that technology plays a huge part of the industry (Northfield, 2017).
• Goal: Gain information on what reports help. • Strategy: Situational analysis is used to examine both internal and external strengths and deficiencies as well as opportunities to improve or change a plan (Hendricks, 2019).
• Goal: To learn what it will take to make a company grow. • Strategy: How to Establish a Public Relations Campaign (2019) describes that it takes money to make money and that will be the only way to make a company grow.
MARKET AND CONSUMER RESEARCH ANALYSIS (Month 7)
Fast forward to many months later. It has taken me multiple tries to get through this class. The number one reason is because life just keeps getting in the way. My biggest problem was finding the time to get it all done and feeling overwhelmed.
I have learned so much this month that I am not sure where to start. I mostly have learned about myself. I am always afraid to ask for help and not sure where to get it on my own. I reached out and feel like I succeeded. If nothing else, I made it through this class and hopefully pass.
Secondly, what is an infographic? I had no idea, but now I do. Am I pro at them? NO! But I have an idea on what one is and where to go to do one.
Thirdly, I thought it would be all about reports. The only report that I know about it the one that took me four weeks to write and came out being 2o-something pages.
Goal: Prepare myself for time management • Strategy: Learn to say no
• Goal: Gain information on what reports help. • Strategy: Research, research and a lot more research.
• Goal: To learn what it will take to make a company grow. • Strategy: It is not as easy as 1,2,3. There needs to be a business plan in place and followed.
