W/C 18. 11. 2024
Module Launch
Today's session was the launch of the Futures Lab. I had a little idea as to how this project may be structured, this being with the main outputs of the project being our individual employability materials such as; CV's, Portfolio, Cover Page, Websites and official social media accounts.
We began the session with the powerpoint introducing this project, and identifying what the futures lab meant. Focusing on the 'critical engagement with the creative industries, preparing [us] to design [our] own personal approach to building sustainable future employability.] In this project we are also encouraged to develop our professional identities, by constructing a variety of self promotional materials, such as a CV, cover letter, portfolio, and linked platforms such as a website and social media platform such as instagram and LinkedIn.
We moved on from the brief to understanding the learning outcomes of this project. It is broken down into two parts,
Learning Outcome 1: Synthesis and reflect on the material delivered to inform your understanding on how to build your future employability.
Achieved through: A mock job interview, with a supporting digital presentation e.g PPT, PDF
Learning Outcome 2: Construct self promotional output that is aligned to your future employability.
Achieved through: A selection of self-promotional employability materials suitable to you - CV, Cover letter, Portfolio, Website, Instagram, LinkedIn. All evidenced in a process log.
After we were shown a job advertisement that had been created in order for us to respond to it in the same way that we'd respond to an external offer. It had been made to adhere to the kind of practices and skills that we have learned over the past two years and so was an appropriate form for everyone to respond to. It also enlisted the kinds of materials that we would require should we 'apply' for said job. These materials are; a CV and Coverletter, we were also informed at this stage that we'd attend a mock interview in which we'd perform in a constructed interview environment in the same way that we would a regular interview. This improving our interviewing techniques and familiarising ourselves with the process.
I began looking over my previous CV and employability materials that I had. I had created a portfolio, instagram account and CV which was a good place to start however, I could see where the improvements were required.
