the more i think about 28 years later, the more deranged i am becoming over it
love love love love love the showcasing of a part of the world i am extremely fond of, and am slooooowly getting over the absolutely ludicrous geographical implications*
absolutely the most visually beautiful film i can remember seeing for a while, helped by the locations but just really really nice to look at and also to listen to (i keep coming back to the causeway chase, just stunning in all possible ways, big fan)
nice that the film really embraces the concept of memento mori, would 8000% visit the bone temple were it a real place, a beautiful peaceful twist on cemeteries**
and cannot tell you how much i loved the pacing, and the avoidance of "we must have one final over-extended climactic action scene before winding down" which is something that bogs down almost every movie ever made these days
the ending? batshit. but this is alex garland's world to which we are mere visitors, and i trust him enough that i am willing to wait and see where it goes
i currently have a lot of time on my hands and limited money but unlimited cinema trips - maybe i will see this for a third time instead of bothering with f1.....
*but if you buy me a drink then i will happily rail all day about them
**if i'm on holiday, i'm finding a cool cemetery to visit, cemetério dos prazeres in lisbon is my current number one recommendation
#28 years later#also#i did see f1 this afternoon#it wasn't bad!#too many car chases#but tobias menzies was having a lovely time

“If I had time travel I’d kill Hitler” “If I had time travel I’d stop my favourite politician getting assassinated” you’re all thinking way too small. If I had time travel I’d stop Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin from dying on the moon due to Soviet sabotage, kicking off the Great Nuclear War and devastating half of the planet.

"I go now to my fathers, in whose mighty presence I shall not now feel ashamed."
One of my favorite characters and he is such an underrated one, honestly the films would not have been half as good without his iconic moments.
