Daylight Portrait’s The daylight portrait’s we have to try and recreate each lighting technique, these include, Direct lighting, Flagged lighting, Reflected lighting and Window light. As show in the images above each different lighting technique gives off a very different yet effective feel, I am personally drawn towards flagged lighting images, however it can be difficult to achieve an effective look, however the image shown above as an example has used the use of the flag very effectively and there for adds to the atmosphere of the image.

Who am I plan, Part 2
In relation to the first idea, i didn't like the shots i needed up with after countless tries, so i have decided to start from scratch with my 'Who are you?' project.
Equipment;
• Tripod
• Nikon D3200 camera
• Standard lens and a 55-200mm lens
 Reflector's and Flag's
A. For my self portrait i plan on doing this in a bar, with shallow depth of field with bottle's of liquor in the back ground but due to the chosen depth of field, the bottle's will be out of focus but still able to slightly make out what the back ground is.
B. For my Location shot, i aim on taking a shot from a low angle along the front of the bar, with all the drinks and mixer's in the back ground, i aim on using leading lines for this image to try and draw the eye in.
C. For my object image, i am going to try and get an action shot with a mix of a fast shutter speed and a slow shutter speed, set on a self timer of myself in the process of making and mixing a cocktail.
I am doing all of my shots in the bar so they are all uniform and have something in common with each other, i plan on having them as all landscape orientation or portrait orientation.
This is relatiable to me as i work part time in a bar making cocktail's at functions.

Who are you? Why choose photography? Eureka Moment.
Tumblr media
My name is Fiona White, I come from a small town central scotland called wishaw, quite a small and deprived area, when i'm not at college thriving in a photography based environment, I am our working one of my 3 jobs, in my spare time I enjoy going out with my friends and socialising, I enjoy going on spontaneous trips out to get pictures on nice days. The thing that got me insterested in photography was initially my hair dresser, he had used the model Kate Moss to style her hair and at the bottom of the page on the magazine his name was on it, having this in the back of my mind I was very interested in being able to produce a similar image one day, we had went on a family holiday later that year to Egypt and I had just to a few snaps but when i started to look at them I was really enjoying it and decided to take it up and a hobby from there, however I am wanting to further this skill and hopefully make it my career. The above images were taken between 2011-2013 just on an ipod, however having said this, these are the images that made me realise i did enjoy taking pictures and using the likes of composition.

5 Inspirational Self Portraits. 1- By Annegien Schilling, I like this portrait as her deep hidden away feelings are drawn onto her body to get across the point of mental ill heath. 2- By Andrzej Dragan, I like this image as it is a controlled portrait however it is helping to convey his personality within this image. 3- By Spiegellicht, I really like how sharp this image is and all the tiny details are so sharp mixed with the harsh lighting. 4- By Unknown, I like this image as it tried so put across his personal hobbies and interests such as construction, however making the viewer aware that it's not straight forward and that there is an element of risk. 5- By Steve Pontibraind, i like this image as it has a very deep and mysterious mood to it, this has been put across very well by using effective lighting.

Post Production Task 3
For each of our portfolio prints, we downloaded an A3 canvas off my city, this was extremely helpful as it meant each our prints were all the same and on the same canvas. We simply changed the image to A4 size (21cm by 29.7cm) then free transformed to fit the the correct size on the A3 canvas and sent to print, ensuring that our resolution was 300ppi.

Create and Emulate-
For my portfolio print i sharpened the image slighting to add more attention to detail as well as creating more black negative space to the right side of the model. I feel that this was very effective as i feel with the negative space being black it raws you into the bright colours of the model creating a contrasting effect.

Create and Emulate
Image 1- Raw image
Image 2- Filter Image
Image 3- The raw images layered with the filter to create a Daguerreotype image.
I moved my transparency right down to 41% so the original image is still visible.
Evaluation.
Out of all the processes this one was the simplest and more effective with minimal work required to complete the effect. I started with the original image and got a daguerreotype style filter online and set it as a layer and brought my transparency down to 41%. I feel like this process has been very effective in creating the specific look I was aiming for.

Portfolio Evaluation.
Q. How effective was your choice of images and the retouching techniques used in your images?
I feel like my choice in images has been very strong as I have shown a broad range of photography areas that I have learned and different techniques that I have taken on board and put into practice to produce some strong images that I have put forward for my portfolio.
Q. How effective was your choice of presentation and layout options in creating visual impact?
I feel like my choice in layout was extremely effective as I had laid them out in colour order, so all the dark and dull images together and the brighter more vibrant images together to help each individual image pop out a little more.
Q. How effective was your choice of print process?
I personally took a while to decide on which company I wanted to go with to print my portfolio images and I ended up ordering all my images from Loxley colour as they offered reasonable prices and quick delivery options. I was not let down with loxleys and they couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating to my individual needs, especially when I had to go a pick up my second order they were extremely helpful throughout the whole ordering process.
Q. How would you improve on any of the steps you made in retouching, layout, and printing of your images?
I felt like I had wasted most of my time deciding on a layout and order of which to set my images out, I personally felt I had spend a decent amount of time during the editing process on each image however I most definable spend too much time on trying to organise my images.

Evaluation of Bridge and Lightroom.
Discover your flow.
Adobe Bridge-
Bridge is mainly used as an easy file browser, You have easy navigation via the bar along the top, it is ideal for using the step by step along the top bar. You are able to import files by dropping and dragging into Bridge, this is the most convenient way to import files if you already have them open in a folder or wishing to import a folder. An ideal feature with Bridge is that it had built in camera raw which is extremely quick, easy and convenient. You can easily select multiple images to edit or move, however it is extremely handy that you are able to see the metadata of each individual image, with this you are able to see all the information about a specific image such as shutter speed, aperture, resolution etc. Bridge makes it extremely convenient to open images in photoshop from bridge or to create a contact sheet. It is very easy and ideal to be aware of. You are able to use a batch review mode, in this you can easily delete and star rate your images to help you narrow them down to the best few. Adobe Bridge is Quick, easy and extremely convenient. However you can also link it with apps such as adobe in design via mini bridge.
Adobe Light Room-
Light room unlike bridge is NOT a file browser, however you are able to preview your images during the import stage before you actually import the images, during this stage you are able to easily apply your copyright to each of them images quickly and easily. In the Develop menu there is a tool bar along the top similar to camera raw in bridge. One draw back of using light room is that its only designed for some file types such as Jpeg, Tif, Raw, Png or Video files, You cannot access illustrator, Design or Photoshop files using light room. You can easily add geotags to images make a book, slideshow print or add to web page. Light room is defiantly similar to bridge however light room is the more efficient processor for a photographers purpose as it is much more convenient and time saving tan Adobe Bridge, Light room has a faster work flow but over all it more organised as you can add images to a collection and easily create copies of an image to edit it in many ways.

10 before and after images edited on Adobe Camera Raw.
I liked using adobe camera raw because you can change most aspects about your image and you can see a before and after of what you've changed and who different the final image looks in comparison to the raw image.

Portfolio Printing.
For all of my portfolio prints i ordered directly from Loxley Colour.
I have ordered twice from this company and they had reasonable prices available to suit.
For my prints i decided i would have A3 photographic prints with the type of paper A3 photographic Lustre.
For the first order of nine prints it worked out at £47.17 (Including VAT)+ £4.20 for DPD standard delivery.
and my second order of 2 prints came to £10.30 (Including VAT) and £0 delivery charge as i had left this until last minute as therefor didn't have time to wait a few days for the delivery however the staff were very accommodating as they had advised that if i had placed my order by 1PM i could collect the same day from their store in Cumbernauld anytime after 3PM.
I would highly recommend Loxleys as they were very helpful in advising the best way to get my prints quick. Their prices are rather reasonable also.
