You know who deserves better? Bellamy Blake.

I don’t know how many times I have to say this. This boy was 6 years old when he was told that the rest of his life would be spent protecting and taking care of his new baby sister. 6! Not a young adult, not a teen, not even a preteen. He was literally a child just out of his own toddler years. He then spent the next 16 years fulfilling the commitment he never volunteered for, and he did an amazing job. He was abused by the guards and lost his own job and chance at a better life to try and keep his sister safe and happy. He went past his obligation of keeping her safe by trying to fulfill her dream of leaving the room. He wanted her happy.

He then willingly risked his life, by shooting at the chancellor to get onto the dropship. If he failed to get on, he would be floated and killed. If he got on the dropship, he knew there was still a high chance of death, and you know what? He still did it.

On the ground, while at first he acted all cocky and full of it, he slowly accepted all the delinquents as family. His original commitment to his sister was cemented by the new threats of the ground.

To Bellamy, love is unconditional. To Bellamy, love means giving your life up without a single thought for a chance at the happiness and survival of a loved one. He doesn’t care whether he’s looked upon favorably or whether the love is two sided, as long as the ones he loves are safe.

Bellamy Blake is not selfish. He is driven by how he knows to love.
