We Were Lions - Horizons EP
The second EP Horizons put out by Essex 5 piece We Were Lions was released June 2014, this release contrasts their first EP Rebirth with a much mellower and relaxing sound. After the departure of their original guitarists, and the subsequent addition of James and Rob, We Were Lions made a comeback with the release of this EP.
The 4 track release starts off with 'Find', a short but sweet song that really gives you a good insight into the tone of the EP, it’s clear to see they’ve changed things up a bit in comparison to the previous EP Rebirth.
The EP then goes into 'I'm Not Angry', a catchy little number that appears to be about post-break up emotions. The track is very relatable, along with 'I Still Have My Health', a slower but strangely upbeat tune.
The Final Track on the Ep is titled ‘Guadalajara’ with heavier riffs and catchy lyrics, it’s clear to see what we can expect from these guys in the future.
Overall, Horizons is calming and catchy, with songs that will stay stuck in your head for days. Keep an eye out for these guys, I predict good things to come from them! You can listen to the EP at http://wewerelions.bandcamp.com/album/horizons

We Were Lions - Rebirth EP
We Were Loins the Essex 5 piece that formed in late 2011, made up of Lloyd Coombes (Vocals), James Martin (Lead/Rhythm Guitar), Rob Cole (Lead/Rhythm Guitar), Phil Lamont (Bass/Vocals) and Dan Vinnicombe (Drums). With influences like; Fightstar, Don Broco, Yashin, A Day To Remember, Young Guns, and Deaf Havana. These 5 guys are defiantly ones to look out for.
Their first EP Rebirth released May 2011 starts off with the track Silver Medal, this song starts off with a heavy with riffs and screams, and then as you get into the song it slow down a touch, and the lyrics become clear, this song has meaningful lyrics while keeping the heavy beat and rock sound throughout.
The next track on the EP is a song titled Backseat; this song has a heavy sound throughout keeping it clear about what you can expect from these guys, with heavy riffs, drop beats and catchy lyrics.
The third song on the EP titled End Of The Road is more mellow then the previous 2 tracks while still keeping up with the riffs and catchy lyrics this song.
The final track with a much more mellow and relaxing sound, is titled Even Hero’s Need To Be Saved, you get a feel about the song from just the title, this track is the most diverse track in the album, as is keeps a slower beat and very meaningful lyrics, with no screams. This song is a calm song and a good track to end the EP on, as it really gives you a feel about the sound of these guys.
It’s clear to see these guys have real talent and potential.

Download Festival - Fall Out Boy
Stephen Sutton (Main) Stage. Pop punk giants Fall Out Boy, hailing from Chicago and consisting of Patrick Stump (vocals/guitar), Pete Wentz (bass guitar), Joe Trohman (guitar) and Andy Hurley (drums).
They have come to claim Download as theirs, after storming the music world with their return last year. Fall Out Boy were top. No other way to put it. After what I felt like was a bit of a shaky start, their confidence and presence on stage was made clear.
You could see the fellas were perfectly at home on stage, performing a variety of songs old and new. The crowd went crazy, screaming the lyrics back to them. They were highly popular with everyone at the festival, not excluding Jaret Reddick of Bowling For Soup, who stopped during his acoustic set to marvel of the wonders of the main stage. ("I don't want to alarm anybody, but I think I just saw Pete Wentz on that big screen over there!")
The set had very little flaws. The dudes enjoyed themselves; the crowd enjoyed themselves, what more can you ask for really? It just proves that even after all these years, FOB are huge. And their album, Save Rock And Roll, is still a banger 14 months after its release. Seeing this band again is a must!

Download Festival - Bring Me The Horizon
Stephen Sutton (Main) Stage. Bring Me The Horizon, for those who don't know, are a 5 piece metal core band hailing from Sheffield, made up of Oliver Sykes (vocals), Lee Malia (guitar), Matt Kean (bass guitar), Matt Nicholls (drums) and Jordan Fish (keyboard).
They had a lot to live up to after winning 'Best Live Band' at the most recent Kerrang! Awards. Frankly, BMTH weren't the best band I've seen live. Not even the best band I saw that day. Whilst they conquered the stage and made the crowd their own, I couldn't help but come away ever so slightly disappointed.
They weren't at their best, perhaps from lack of practise recently? Also; I expected a bad attitude from these guys, but is spitting in the direction of your fans really necessary? We don't all worship the ground you walk on. We're also not cunts. The whole badass non-caring swearing at the audience thing is fair enough, but eventually it just gets... well, old.
Despite this, I still thoroughly enjoyed their set. Cracking out several tracks from their most recent album release Sempiternal as well as some older classics. They had plenty of energy on stage and brought some pretty hefty SFX with them. Whilst it’s the band that makes the show, it has to be said that some flames always makes things more impressive. If BMTH are like this on an off day, then I hope I one day get to see them on top form.
I am intrigued to see how their show at Wembley Arena fairs, best of luck to them!

Download Festival - Bury Tomorrow
Stephen Sutton (Main) Stage. Bury Tomorrow are a 5 piece melodic metal core band hailing from Southampton, consisting of Dani Winter-Bates (vocals), Jason Cameron (guitar/vocals), Davyd Winter-Bates (bass guitar), Adam Jackson (drums) and Kristan Dawson (guitar).
They originally formed back in 2006 and were finally given the opportunity to prove their worth on the main stage, following the success of their recent album release, Runes. Suffice to say these lads lived up to the hype, delivering a smashing stage performance.
They made their presence well known to the people of Donington, with the familiar riffs of Man On Fire to be heard throughout the festival site. They put their full energy into their set and it most definitely paid off.
The on-stage 'banter' however, left much to be desired. We know what a circle is Dani! And whilst an all-girl mosh pit sounds hideously fun, unfortunately some would consider that pretty sexist, and that’s not cool. But the crowd were fully immersed in the music, which was on form.
I wasn't big on Bury Tomorrow before, but after seeing them this weekend, I'm giving Runes another listen and so should you! These guys are not to be missed and I would definitely recommend you go see them on their headline tour in October.

Download Festival - Chasing Cadence
Chasing Cadence the 5 piece alternative rock band made up of Jack Harris(Vocals), Rob Barlow(Guitar), Frank Muir(Guitar), Dan Seager(Bass) and Alfie Powell(Drums) from Hertfordshire, UK.
Chasing had been given the opportunity to play the Red Bull stage at Download this weekend after getting shortlisted into the top 8 bands over at Red Bull Bedroom Jam.
With influences like Taking Back Sunday, Funeral For A Friend and Young Guns these 5 guys had the stage presence, confidence and talent to get the crowd going and keep them pumped throughout the set.
Not hearing about these guys till shortly before download, we were not so sure what to expect. They definitely surprised us, playing early afternoon at a festival as big as Download for a band just coming into the limelight can be a bit daunting for some bands, but obviously not for these guys, the raw talent, stage presence and energy was clear to see with the crowd dancing and singing along to songs from the EP ‘Pages’ and a few other tracks that the crowd happily sung along to.
The band released three singles with accompanying videos in 2013 as well as releasing their EP 'Pages'.
These guys are definitely one to look out for, with their fan base always growing, they even have a fan base outside of the UK, we expect big things to come from Chasing Cadence in 2014.
