Cool? Am I really? This must be a pretty boring world if climbing a tree makes such a good first impression...
Dismissing the thought with a light clear of her throat, Xion musters up what she hopes is a polite smile and nods along as the information is pretty much... well, dumped on her. Still, it made sense to try to get to know each other a bit better before anything else.
"Um.... right... it's nice to meet you, Kairi." She allows with a small nod. Talking about herself would be more difficult, all things considered, but she could at least try, right? As long as nothing too important was divulged, anyways.
"My name is Xion and, uh... I live really far away. I like.... ice cream. And sunsets. I don't really go to school though, I don't think..."

"Right now, it is," Kairi replied with a twinkle in her eyes, making it clear that she already cared for the girl. "Oh! You’re totally right, sorry about that. A-hem!"
She coughed into her fist for dramatic emphasis, then bowed her head in greeting (not difficult, considering the girl was still more or less directly above her - her neck was starting to crick a little). “Hey there! My name’s Kairi. I like swimming, sunbathing and reading, my house is over there-” Here, she pointed over in the direction of the mainland- “And I’m in my second year of high school!”
She smiled again, then looked worried. “Ah, but you don’t have to say that much about yourself,” she laughed semi-awkwardly, rubbing her head. “I guess I’m a little excited to be meeting someone so cool for the first time.”

It was almost a little daunting just how nice this stranger was being towards her. Patience and kindness were things Xion had measured knowledge of, even fewer first hand experiences with, and she's not quite sure what to think of all of this. Was this sort of behavior normal and her own situation strange or was this girl simply... different, strange, an outlier? It was so hard to tell these days.
At any rate, she hardly sees what's so brave about climbing a tree when she's done oh so much more admirable things in the past for little to no praise. Ah well.
The prospect of friendship, however, does manage to catch her attention and she can't help but think to Axel's explanation of it all. Xion knew she had best friends but... regular friends seemed to evade her. A shame too, really.

"Is it really that easy...?" She inquires with a light rub at the back of her head. "I didn't know it was something you could decide, just like that... I mean... I-I don't even know your name yet..."

Kairi couldn’t keep the flash of worry off her face as she saw the black-haired girl try to hold on. Reflexively, her arms went outwards, willing to catch the girl if she dropped.

Thankfully, the girl had a good pair of arms on her, and the worried frown faded away into another happy smile. “Yeah, you are. I’d never dare to try and climb up there without someone looking out for me.”

The girl’s meek, worried response put Kairi in mind of a little mouse, crouched low and shuffling back. There was no need for anything like that; not here, and not anywhere else if Kairi could help it. People should be happy, proud and relaxed, not worried and tense.
"No, you’re not. In fact, I’ve been a pretty lonely on the island, lately. If anything, I’m glad to see you!" Kairi laughed lightly, then brought up the star-fruit. "Wanna be friends?"

Xion's default weapon gear is the wild gear, thus her most commonly used Keyblade is Midnight Roar.

Let's talk about how Roxas and Xion can both use the Aubade, a Keyblade named after love songs or poems exchanged by parting lovers when day breaks.

In all of her fretting, Xion had somehow managed to overlook that... well, she wasn't exactly alone. At the stranger's voice, she can't help but jolt in surprise, very nearly losing her grip on the trunk of the paopu tree in the process. Thankfully she manages to keep herself from falling into the water and, naturally, becoming a soggy mess.
Leather coats don't dry too well, you know.
An awkward glance is spared in the direction of the girl, Xion unsure of what to say at first. Her interactions with kids her age were painfully limited and even then, not all that... normal. She didn't want to come off as too terrible offputting to someone she just met.

"Uh... um... I... am?" She mumbles with a small tilt of her head. A compliment. They always felt so strange, what with the stark contrast they stood to the things her peers tended to spew at her. No point in looking into that too deeply though.
"Er... I'm not in your way or anything, am I? I didn't even know anyone came out here, really..."

Kairi had gotten into the habit of not spending a lot of time at the Island ever since her fifteenth year began. Somehow, being there felt… off. It was stupid, and Tidus, Selphie and Wakka were all good friends, but… It felt like someone was missing.

Still, Kairi didn’t stop going entirely. It was still a great place to explore, run, laze around and swim. And anyway, if this strange feeling of loss only popped up when she was at the Island, she might even remember more about it, in time.
On this day, however, there’s a newcomer at the island. The person - closer inspection revealed it to be a person who looked like a girl, with short black hair and a weird overcoat - was so focused on her adventuring that she apparently didn’t notice Kairi’s boat rowing over.

She’d just made it off the pier when the girl had started climbing up the paopu tree, daringly going up. She couldn’t see anyone around looking out for her - this girl was pretty gutsy.
When the little star-shaped fruit tumbled out of the girl’s hands, Kairi decided to make her entrance. Kicking off her socks and shoes, she stepped out into the shallows, picking up the fruit from the sand where it lay. And besides, it looked like a pretty cool cloak. Surely the girl didn’t want it getting wet, right?

"Hey!", she smiled up at the girl, still clinging to the tree. "You’re pretty good at climbing, you know that?"

Welp, there goes another display of senseless, supernatural violence. She should expect it of humans by now, really, but that doesn't stop Xion from yelping a bit and jolting back in surprise, hands raised defensively against... everything, pretty much.
She had to admit, Mikoto's magic seemed far stronger than her own--
"W-Wha...?!" Quickly shaking her head, Xion glances between the other girl and the collapsed heap of a boy a few yards off. Her thoughts briefly go to Larxene and her brutish shows of strength. Thinking on it too long does well to prompt a shudder.
"N-No, I don't! I... have no idea what just happened, really! Or what he was talking about or... or..."
One-Way Trip [fxrget-me-nots]
Mikoto didn’t really hear Xion’s stuttered attempt at replying. “Oh…? A ‘tomboy’…?” Her eye twitched, and she raised a hand. The punk had maybe a second to realise he’d made a mistake and reflect on his errors, which definitely wasn’t enough time considering the number of them.

Blue lightning arced out, curling jaggedly from her palm and slamming into him, shocking him. He was blasted backwards, tumbling into a pile of rubbish bags, smoke gently rising from his unconscious body.
Mikoto blinked and appeared to snap out of her anger. Damn. I always go too far when I get angry like that. She sighed and turned back to Xion, not sure how to begin to explain everything that had just been dumped on her.
"Uh… you know what espers are, right?"

What a loud and brash girl. The draw of a weapon is enough to encourage Xion to take a few steps back, more out of wariness than anything else, as sharp blue eyes focus on the stranger. A fight would be bad, especially what with the confusing rules of this world. Best to avoid it if at all possible.
"Um... I guess I was trying to fight that Heartless? But... my weapon wasn't really... doing much..." She explains, as if that wasn't already painfully obvious to anyone with a pair of working eyes. Perhaps she just wasn't sure what other sort of answer to give.
Cocking her head a bit to the side, her gaze flicks to the large spear in the other girl's hands. "You must be really strong to take something like that down so easily though."

"Have you listened to a lot of music? Who's your favourite composer?" The real question is if they've listened to any music at all tbh.

"I have." She admits with a little nod. "Um... a lot of the worlds I've been to, I've heard people sing or play instruments. It's a little funny-- the sound is always different depending on the place but... mm, humans tend to sing about the same sort of thing? Like love or sadness or anger. I wonder why that is...."
There's a pause as she seems to mull something over. "One of my comrades also plays music but I don't think I like his as much. It seems... more empty, I think."

The island was such a strange place, Xion had to admit. Or, at least, it was strange by her own standards. Every world in the multiverse was vastly different, that much was obvious-- she had seen boys that could fly, whales the size of a small town, twisted jungles and barren deserts and thousands of other sights.
But this? This was almost painfully... well, normal. And that normalcy was probably what made it so decidedly weird for a girl like Xion, raised and reared in the unknown.
Needless to say, she's been snooping around rather curiously since her arrival, almost childlike in her actions to anyone else who may be watching. Half an hour is spent inspecting sand, even longer with her trying to grab some of the strange fish that swim in the shallow end of the water. Much longer, however, is spared trying to retrieve one of the strange star-shapes from the funny trees that twist and turn from the ground.
Why did it look so familiar? What was it? She was determined to find out.
Shimmying up the tree itself is no problem but dangling over the waves it overlooks makes her a bit... nervous. Probably the underlying knowledge that she's not a particularly strong swimmer and she's not sure what may be in the ocean in the first place. Ah well. Eventually she squirms up to the end of the trunk, glove clad fingers finally snagging one of the not-stars from a branch.
Only to drop it into the water below.
"A-Ah...! No, nooo!"

What was your favorite aspect of hanging out with Roxas and Axel?

"Um... probably that they're nice to me, I think? Not... a lot of people at the castle like me very much. So it's was nice having people I could talk to! Roxas and I are a lot alike so that's pretty neat and Axel is really smart about a lot of stuff so he'd teach us a lot of things. But... mostly I'm just glad I have people who want me around, I guess."

Quote
A savage desire for strong emotions and sensations burns inside me: a rage against this soft-tinted, shallow, standardized and sterilized life, and a mad craving to smash something up, a department store, say, or a cathedral, or myself.

Oh boy. Here it comes, the part when everyone starts getting violent and loud for seemingly no reason. That was always a constant with humans, it seemed-- their emotions were so sloppy and haphazard that Xion can't help but wonder if it's really worth it in the end. Still, that was something she'd have to wait for Kingdom Hearts' completion to decide.
Upon the realization that the thuggish boy was talking to her, Xion jolts a bit in place and takes a few stepds back as a bit of a safety precaution. She could take him, if need be, but that was an outcome best left avoided.
Especially since it was becoming progressively more and more clear these weren't average civilians.

"Er... I don't... really know what you mean. Sorry." She mumbles out, a hand rubbing at the back of her head. "I've never heard of a level three and I'm... not sure how I'd go out if we're already outside. I'm just passing through sooo... I should... get going, I think."
One-Way Trip [fxrget-me-not]
The last sentence sparked a kind of suspicion in Mikoto’s head. The way Xion (a weird name, but not a bad one) acted was starting to remind her of… one or two things. Moreover, the hand she was offering out felt unused to contact, which meant social failing. Hmm.
She smiled again, still trying to put Xion at ease. “Don’t worry, Xion. Whoever it is you’re running away from, I’m not with them. I’m just a normal pers-“

Her words died in her throat as a large hand clapped onto her shoulder.
“Hey, girls. How’re you doin’?”, the teenager behind her drawled.
Mikoto didn’t have to turn around to know what he looked like; a red bandana around spiked-up bleached hair that was supposed to make him look cool, denim shirt with ripped sleeves - just a completely normal street punk with no sense of politeness. Perfect.
"Well, actually, we’re in the middle of something," Mikoto answered in a too-sweet voice, turning her head to look at him with a suspiciously wide smile. If someone were to be looking at her closely, they might see a little blue crackle of sparks around her temple, signifying her irritation. "So if you’ll just-"

She sprang into action, slamming a sideways fist into his stomach Her spinning motion meant that as her doubled over, her other hand was coming around and caught him in the side of his head, throwing him backwards.
"-Then that would be great."
The punk stumbled backwards, regaining his footing five steps away. “Hmph. You tomboys aren’t really my type. Your little girlfriend, on the other hand…” He grinned and looked over Mikoto’s shoulder at Xion, sticking his hands into his pockets and began to hover slightly, a slight gust starting up. “Hey, girlie, ever gone out with a level three before?”, he said, clearly boasting.
