Twitter analytics follow a specific set of rules. For trending to happen, the best hashtag is one that was never used before and is tweeted all at once by as many people as possible. It can’t be tweeted alongside another hashtag (only one hashtag per tweet) and retweets count just as much as an original tweet. Account with big following have the most impact on trends.

1. We will be posting a hashtag in our Twitter account @DarkMatterFTL.

2. We the fans will need to spread this hashtag out at a very specific time window. IT’S SUPER IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO NOT USE THE HASHTAG BEFORE THE TIME FRAME.

3. When the time comes, post your tweets with ONLY ONE HASHTAG in it.

4. Retweets are important and they’re are as good as tweeting.

In order to maximize our reach in the U.S., we had to schedule our FTL Friday tweet storms at times that proved…inconvenient for many of our international fans. We apologize for that but, again, this was really a result of a need to LOUDLY target a potential new U.S. home for the show (since we already have nice comfy homes overseas and in Canada). (x)

Please tell everyone you can to do this. We need to be heard that we want the show on Netflix, and we need to have the numbers to prove it’s worth it to them!

If you email or call, frame it not as “saving” Dark Matter but instead of think of it in terms of why Netflix should want Dark Matter. It’s a great show with a fantastic overarching plot, great characters, a diverse cast and characters, a solid 2 more seasons of story, and a lot of fans! Let them know you want them to support Seasons 4 and 5!

We have a better chance with Netflix than we do convincing Syfy to renew, so please do this!

Dark Matter Cancelled

It is with great sadness that I confirm the news.  Syfy has cancelled Dark Matter after three seasons.

To say that I’m incredibly disappointed would be an understatement.

I’ll save my comments and field your questions in a future blog entry.  For today, I just want to extend a heartfelt thanks to my amazing crew, my wonderful cast, and to all of you, our incredible fans.

You all deserved better.
