Hi friends! Long time no see.
By now, you’ve surely heard the news regarding Josh Klinghoffer’s departure and John Frusciante’s return.
We’re seeing a lot of mixed emotions: feelings of sadness for Josh, joy for John, confusion for the way the band has chosen to handle this, and on and on and on.
We’re also seeing a lot of hate being spewed at Josh, a man who has been with RHCP for a decade.
We think he deserves better, and FYRHCP would love to share some positive memories and thoughts.
That’s where you come in. Send us a message and we’ll share your (positive) thoughts with the rest of our little RHCP community here.
What’s your favorite memory of Josh?
What’s your favorite RHCP song with Josh?
Did you see them live while Josh was still in the band? What was that experience like?
Do you enjoy Josh’s other projects? What’s your favorite thing he’s worked on?
Literally anything else as long as it’s POSITIVE.

“John… so, very special person to me, special person to many people. But my experience with John was… one of the most wonderful and easiest people to make music with. We could sit down on the floor, John and I, and I could take out a piece of paper and I would say “okay I wrote these words” and he was like “let me see those words” and he would take the words and he would read them and he’s like “okay!” and then he would start to play something and I would start to sing it and I would say “Can you play something that feels like this?” and he’d say “okay let me try this” and then we have a song.
So, never did I meet someone who was so easy to write songs with and really good songs.
If I called him up and I’m like “I’m very sad today” he’s like “Come over right now, we’re writing a song” so I’d bring my sadness to John and “sit down! get the notebook, start writing your feelings!” and then we have a song…”
Do you miss him?
“I miss him, but I also accept the separate lives…yeah… but I miss him…”

Dark Necessities
Coming on to the light of day we got
Many moons that are deep at play so I
Keep an eye on the shadow smile
To see what it has to say
You and I both know
Everything must go away
What do you say
Spinning Knot that is on my heart is like a
Bit of light in a touch of dark you got
Sneak attack from the zodiac
But I see your fire spark
Eat the breeze and go
Blow by blow and go away
What do you say
Yeah
You don’t know my mind
You don’t know my kind
Dark necessities are part of my design and
Tell the world that I’m
Falling from the sky
Dark necessities are part of my design
Stumble down to the parking lot you got
No time for the after thought they’re like
Ice Cream for an Astronaut
Well that’s me looking for we
Turn the corner and
Find the world at your command
Playing the hand
Yeah
You don’t know my mind
You don’t know my kind
Dark necessities are part of my design
Tell the world that I’m
Falling from the sky
Dark necessities are part of my design
Do you want this love of mine
Darkness helps us all to shine
Do you want it, do you want it now
Do you want it all the time
But darkness helps us all to shine
Do you want it, do you want it now
Pick you up like a paper back with the
Track record of a maniac so I
Move it in and we unpack
It’s the same as yesterday
Any way we roll
Everything must go away, what do you say
Yeah
You don’t know my mind
You don’t know my kind
Dark necessities are part of my design
Tell the world that I’m
Falling from the sky and
Dark necessities are part of my design
