"The Good and the Bad: How Social Media Affected Me as a Gen Z Individual"
Social media affects me as a generation z individual in both negative and positive way. Considering that I spend almost the whole day on the internet and almost forgot to do my usual stuff to do at home but I do recommend staying active on one's health than spending all your hours behind a screen which would be unhealthy. Plus this generation is full of people who compete in social media for likes and attention. It influences me by depending on the internet, highly engaged to social media to the point that it makes me lazy, the different side of me begins to appear as the result of playing too much online games and it affects my relationship with my family and friends by not giving them enough time. Additionally, social media changes our attitude and the way we think, it is because of what we read and see online.
But on the brighter side, it helps me to understand more about how technology works and makes my life more convenient somehow particularly when I need to seek an information because there are some words that I'm lacking at and whether if it's accurate or not, and other many things that I've experienced by the use of it. Also, its good or positive side is that we Gen Z individuals, sees social media as a way to connect both to our friends and to a more diverse group of people. Eighty-nine percent of Gen Z teens surveyed said that social media helped them interact with people from different backgrounds and experience; it helped them gain access to different points of view and helps them show their support for causes and issues that are important to them, which is mostly true to our part. Let us all control ourselves in using these platforms to avoid addiction and health problems, caused by too much usage.

“The Digital Divide”
Digital divide is the gap between demographics and regions that have access to modern information and communications technology, and those that don't or have restricted access. When we were having a vacation in Bohol, I really cannot access the internet because of the signal; we stayed in a rural area. People there are not really familiar with the new technology and do not know how to use it. Also, especially right now that we are currently experiencing a pandemic and we cannot go to school so we have to utilize the new technology. There is a great impact felt in the communities where privilege does not extend because of this pandemic. Because of lack of resources, there are students who cannot continue their study. According to UNESCO, around 1.5 billion learners in 188 countries are affected by school closure which represents over 91 percent of the world’s student population. There are also students who are struggling and having difficulty just to cope up with this new way of learning.
And as a student, situations like this can be settle through teaching them on how to use it so that the gap can be lessen and in order for the digital immigrants to appreciate the use of these materials particularly that we are in a modernized generation where technology can be seen everywhere. Let’s equally encourage our friends, families, and accomplices to follow in our footsteps. Let’s understand everyone who is affected by this digital divide. Let us not discriminate or shame those people, because of this inequality but instead appreciate them, teach and educate them on what is digital technology. Also, if you have the privilege and resources you can share it to others who are less privileged. But I am still a student so the best thing that I can do is to educate them on what is digital or new technology, because everyone should experience a better life with the help of technologies.

“The Setbacks of Piracy”
Piracy is developing, and should be halted before it is considerably wilder. As per BSA (Business Software Association) found that there are several thousand sites that are right now encroaching copyright law. Piracy is illegal and can send you to jail. Under the Cybercrime Law, acquiring any digital copy of any copyrighted material is now punishable by a fine between Php 200,000 (US$4,470) to Php 500,000 (US$11,175) and six to 20 years in prison. The Intellectual Property Code and the Anti-Camcording Law were previously in place to combat piracy in the Philippines. We should not tolerate piracy because it is discrediting the hard work of the original producers and the people behind a certain work who worked really hard to create that content. Pirating affects the artists and producers who worked so hard on “free” media. Pirated things are far from the original. The quality is low and not really good.
Product duplication is depriving the legitimate owners of hard-earned salaries. The government implemented the Copyright law in order to protect the original content wrote by the owner and the government’s actions answered this issues that evolve in the copyright law by subjecting the violators to pay a fine. On the internet, piracy is an act of copying and distributing software without any consent or payment. The setbacks of piracy is that the clients of pilfered or fake programming could insight: Increment the odds that the product won't work accurately or will flop totally; Relinquish admittance to client care, redesigns, specialized documentation, preparing, and bug fixes; Have no guarantee to secure themselves; Increment their danger of introduction to a crippling infection that can decimate significant information; May find that the product is really an obsolete rendition, a beta (test) adaptation, or a non-functioning duplicate; Are dependent upon noteworthy fines for copyright encroachment; and Danger expected negative exposure and public and private humiliation.

"The Role of Print, Broadcast and New Media"
It all started with the print media. Where you can read and find information of text or materials printed on paper and then physically distributed. Print media allowed mass communication; it reached a large scale in terms of disseminating information. Books, magazines, and newspaper are examples of print media; these are prevalent in most parts of the world today despite the increasing popularity of Internet-based media. After print media, broadcast media came into existence. It comes in two forms, radio and television. With the invention of the transistor, radio and television were also invented. Broadcast media are also called “household” media because they are found everywhere in your home. Information’s in broadcast media are disseminated over the air unlike the print media. Thanks to radio and television, huge number of people can receive information in real time. This is so useful for those who don’t have access on the internet to acquire information.
Lastly, new media came it is digital and internet based. Anything that is associated with the internet is called new media. We are still dealing with these Medias today. For example is when you are having a business; you’ll use poster and billboards as print media, advertising commercials on television for broadcast media and promote over the internet for new media, this also helps the business in productivity. For us, new media is the easiest in acquiring information, as long as you have the access to the internet, you will be updated as soon as possible. The print, broadcast, and new media shares a significant role which is to inform or update the people around the globe however they have a different features that stands out or sufficiently worth of attention from the people. All of these Medias are important in their own way. Without them we won’t be informed about what is happening around the world.

“New media is theorized to eventually replace print and broadcast media. What do you think will happen in five years’ time?”
Print media has been our sources for our news before along with broadcast media. Print media includes Newspaper, Magazines and all the static categories of media that exist. On the other hand, broadcast media includes Television, Radio. Those are the medium for receiving messages or reports from the two media. What I think about the concept of “new media is theorized to eventually replace print and broadcast media” is something possible. We really cannot deny that new media is the most used type of media all over the world because of its advantages. But I also think that print and broadcast media will still be relevant because there are people who prefers using these types of media in getting information and news; and not all people knows how to access or use the new media. New media can be accessed if there's a presence of the stable internet connection in which we can easily access to social media, video games, and related digital platforms.
But in the present times, it is true that the introduction of new media which includes websites, blogs, email, social media networks, music and television streaming services, virtual and augmented reality has slowly hindered the use of Print and Broadcast media to a large extent and it is continuing to do so rapidly. The new media also has tons of advantages and disadvantages to the users of the said platform. In five years’ time, I think that new media will slowly replace the print and broadcast media. Especially right now that we are in the new normal where new media is really necessary and efficient. In five years’ time people will use more the new media because it is much easier than the traditional media. And then eventually new media will replace print and broadcast media. But we can’t be sure because people might continue to use and give importance to both in quite a balanced manner like today.

“Understanding the Relevance of Information and News Literacy in the Midst of Social Era”
We are right now in social era wherein people can easily find, disseminate and receive information in social media or on the internet. People nowadays will believe and judge a given information or news without even thinking twice if it is really true or false. I say we need to be alert and always think twice before assuming on certain news. Lot of people are in to social media these days since we all staying at home (mostly some people are at work) then again always be a responsible cyber citizen. The relevance of the information and news literacy in the midst of social era can assist us on keeping in touch or updated to the happenings in our country and world. We should be able to differentiate information and news literacy from the fake and legitimate because in social era we can express our thoughts and information to the community using the social media platforms.
If you have the ability to recognize if an information is needed and to evaluate and effectively use information then you are an information literate individual. While being able to use critical thinking skills to judge the reliability or credibility of a news report is a news literate individual. These skills are important to be taught on people because having both of these abilities will help you and your fellow people to avoid misinformation, disinformation and mal-information in various social media platforms especially that we are in the midst of social era. These literacies could help people to connect with others not just things but also ideas. They will also help us identify untrue, old, or false information and judge the reliable news and information that are present on the internet or other sources of information which is beneficial to our society. Nowadays, people tend to surf more in the social media to find and read articles about the government related news. In the media where we can distinguish whether the news are legit or false because as we all know spreading false information in the media is very common and we need to be more thorough of what we read in this platform. Media and the Government are so powerful that they can control us citizens. They can manipulate us and change the way we think. Media and Government are also there to help and assist people. Media is the one who informs us and keeps us up-to-date in knowing information, issues and happenings. While the Government is the one who leads and governs us. There are 2 sides on a particular government; the one who loves and cares for the community and the other one who doesn't care and hates everyone (probably corrupt also). Almost every country has one of those.
As what the title says “Media and Government: A Love-Hate Relationship” is true. There are times that they are one and is a complement to each other, there is also times that they differ in preferences, decisions and then fight. The latter can cause misinformation to people and is not good. But even though they can mislead, confuse and brainwash us, both are still very important to the Country and its people. The media and government has a love-hate relationship where the people in the government loves the attention they get from people in the media but also afraid to be exposed if they did something wrong that could affect the government or the community/lies because it could ruin their reputation by just one article or news and that's why some of them bribe the witnesses or reporters just to cover up their wrongdoings and preventing from exposing in the media.
